KIEHL'S EPIDERMAL RE-TEXTURIZING MICRO-DERMABRASION

I am very excited to write about this next product, especially as my first review on a product from Kiehls was literally "nothing to write home about" or should I say "blog about".
I did blog about it though!

I was more, than a little disillusioned with their Over Night Biological Peel, so to be honest,
I seriuosly wondered if Kiehls was a brand that would suit me at all.
It can happen, where you invest in several products from a house, with "high hopes" that your skin, will feel and look great...after all, your friends "rave" about the very same products, but for whatever reason they just "don't do it" for you!
This will happen from time to time, so move on, and find a range that does excite and work for you!

Fortunately I did move on, but luckily, onto another Kiehls exfoliating product .
My doubts and fears were soon put to rest, when I tried The Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion and this Kiehls product is most definitely worthy of a "glowing" review
 (pun intended)
What am I making a fuss about? you may wonder.....Well, exfoliaters are my passion and very, very rarely do I come across one, that really blows me away, and this one, really did "blow" me away..socks and all!

Kiehls Re-Texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion

Product Claims:

An advanced polishing cream with effective gentle exfoliating quality.
The skin texture feels significantly smoother and clearer.
Will also help to reduce the appearance of facial lines and discolourations.

Key Ingredients:

Micronized Shells:
A naturally occurring crystalline silica derived from diatoms, unicellular microscopic algae. This fine silica powder is a natural exfoliant.

Shea Butter:
Shea Butter is the natural fat obtained from the fruit of the African Karate tree and is widely used in lotions and cleansing products for its hydrating properties. Protects skin from dehydration, restores skin's suppleness and improves the appearance of dry skin.

Willow Herb:
Derived from a plant commonly known as fireweed or willow herb. This plant is known to have anti-microbial and soothing properties.

Application and texture:

Squeeze a small amount of the product into the palm of your hand, then using your fingertips apply in circular upward and outward movements...to a clean, but damp or wet skin.
They recommend that you massage for 30 secs, but no more than two minutes or until you achieve the desired effect. Rinse with cool water and gently pat dry.Avoid the eye area, but this product can also be used on the neck, decollete, elbows, hands and back.
I experimented on all these areas and it works perfectly!
I used the product once a week for several weeks and I soon realised that if you are looking for a more gentle exfoliating treatment, then add more water to the paste and if you really want an invigorating scrub then use less water.

I must say right now, that even though, they say it is "gentle" I found it to be quite, a stimulating, yet very effective scrub, which may not be enjoyed by everyone, especially if you are looking for a light exfoliation or you are prone to any sensitivity!
Some redness is to be expected as the skin is being re-texturized. Moisturization is imperative to soothe the skin after use, so don't miss this step out.
Kiehls recommend using this formula in conjunction with Kiehl's Dermatologist Solutions' Centella Skin-Salve.

Size:
75 mls

Overall Impression:

I absolutely loved using this product, as my skin felt extremely polished, invigorated, smoother, brighter and, to put it very simply, it felt great, so much so, that I really wished I could use it more often, but I must administer some constraint here, as it does, very effectively re-texturize the skin and you "can" get too much of a good thing!
It is by far the most active "home" exfoliater/scrub/polisher that I have ever used.

Please be advised that this product can make your skin more susceptible to the sun, so a high SPF cream is recommended! I would not use this product on acne, acne roseacea or recent scaring.

Will I be "ditching" my usual exfoliater?...not likely!, but this product will work alongside my existing exfoliater, on an alternating weekly basis....so I guess "The Queen of Exfoliation" has now scored two great exfoliators, albeit both different types!
I think that's called "Success".

Available at Edgars Sandton City only, but you can order online through Edgars

  1. Very interesting! I quite like my overnight biological peel because scrubs tend to make me break out. I guess my skin is sensitive. I would definitely try a sample of this and see what happens.

  2. I think the key is the amount of water you use or how wet your face is when you apply.Try it and let me know what you think!

  3. That’s right! Don’t ditch your usual exfoliator, just because you have found something that say it's as good as the other. Actually, I’d like to advise you against overusing exfoliators. Yes, it’s good to keep your skin clean and free of dead skin cells, but make sure it’s not taking away your skin’s natural moisture in the process. Well, I guess the key here is to replenish the lost moisture by keeping yourself hydrated all the time. Take care!
