MONTHLY FAVOURITES {SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER 2016}

I have to say that September and October have been very busy months and they seem to have flown by, but here are some of my "Faves" from these past 2 months.

Enjoy!

1.

This Tweexy has been such a find and I can't believe that after all of these years of precariously balancing different shaped nail polish bottles, I finally have a stable aide to painting my nails.

2.

JT ONE PRETTY PAINT

I have seen the nail polishes in Woolworths over the months, if not over the years and rather foolishly just dismissed them as being cheap, so therefore they can't be that great.
Well these have been such a great find and how wrong I was...

3.

benefit Suagrbomb

Yet again another benefit product appears on my monthly favourites post.
I am really enjoying using this sugarbomb blush/powder and it seems as though its going to be long-lasting, as it hasn't worn down very much over the past month of use.

4.

Buff Beauty Parlour

This isn't a product but was most definitely one of my "faves" of October and I highly recommend that you visit Buff Beauty Parlour in Umhlanga New Town, whether it be for treatment or just a donut and a coffee.

BENEFIT SUGARBOMB {REVIEW}

If you follow me on my other social media platforms
(if you don't you can click on the icons on the right hand side bar)
you will no doubt already be aware of my current love affair with benefit and I think I can now officially bestow upon myself, the name...

benebabe
(due to the amount of products I now own and use on a daily basis)

I had been looking for sometime for a new blusher and benefit have a good selection of blushers, powders and bronzers on offer.
After a consultation with Natasha, the counter manager at Red Square Gateway,
(who is a true benebabe with lots of passion and enthusiasm for her brand)
I opted for the dual purpose sugar bomb, which can be used as an all over powder or just on the cheek area.

benefit suagrbomb R385

This square packaging consists of four shimmering shades of peach, soft plum, pink and rose, which together gives a natural colour and radiance to the cheeks.
It gives an instant sugary flush that looks both natural and flattering.
I very rarely rave about the brushes that come with cosmetics and more often than not I recommend you to throw them away as they are not fit for purpose.
However ignore my previous advise and keep this soft natural bristle brush, as it's an absolute pleasure to use,it picks up the colour nicely and the shape of the brush makes for a really easy application.
It is on the pricey side retailing for R385, but so far I'm very impressed with all aspects of the product and would look at repurchasing the same again.

DERMACEUTIC - PANTEHENOL CEUTIC - NOURISHING RESTORING OINTMENT

Before I tell you of my experiences with the product here is some background to the cosmeceutical brand

DERMACEUTIC

Dermatologists and surgeons specialising in facial rejuvenation wanted to offer technologically advanced skin care products for their patients, to accompany general medical and cosmetic procedures.

Their research led to the development of DERMACEUTIC – a range of cosmeceuticals to prepare, optimise and maintain the results of all medical and cosmetic procedures.
Hence you won't find this brand in any mainstream stores or beauty salons.

The DERMACEUTIC home care range focuses on the three essential areas of skin
 rejuvenation:

Stimulation
Protection
and
Repair

DERMACEUTIC Nourishing Restoring Ointment 30g R450

I was lucky enough to be sent, sometime ago, their Nourishing Restoring Ointment to try.
Not having had any medical or cosmetic procedures I really haven't been able to review this product fully, but what I can say - if I were to have any procedure DERMACEUTIC would, without a doubt be a range that I would reach for to help care, restore and comfort my skin following any aesthetic procedures.
After reading about their products and history and previously experiencing their
DERMACEUTIC Advanced Cleanser it's clear to see that this company are the trusted experts.

This colourless, non fragranced, hypoallergenic, paraben free ointment has been formulated using high concentrations of active ingredients to provide long lasting hydration, protection and more importantly, immediate skin comfort.

With sensitive and very dry skins in mind this product does feel far heavier than what I'm used to and initially I thought that this gel ointment would sit on the surface of my skin, but I was amazed at how it was readily absorbed and left no greasy surface residue.
I personally would advise that you use less rather than more as a small amount really does go a long way.

I recognise all of the ingredients below and again it reassures me that
DERMACEUTIC products are the way to go.

Panthenol 5%
A restoring complex to provide an immediate calming effect on irritated skin.

Bisabolol 1%

A highly tolerated restoring antioxident active to soothe skin and restore comfort.

Shea Butter and Beeswax
Intensely hydrate and nourish the skin.

Vitamins E

Renowned for it's antioxidant properties, vitamin E combats the signs of photoaging and limits their appearance.

Next week I'm off overseas to a wintry UK for 3 weeks and I will pack my tube of rescue ointment to give my skin some TLC during its "shock" phase, which it will go into after leaving the hot and humid Durban spring temperatures of 25c+, to be plunged into temperatures as low as 5c.
On a side note this ointment is also great to use on dry lips and on any skin irritations that need to be either soothed, calmed or nourished

BUFF BEAUTY PARLOUR - UMHLANGA

Despite this new beauty parlour being literally on my doorstep I hadn't heard anything about its
arrival via the beauty "grapevine".
My first knowledge of Betty Boops Wonderland in Umhlanga was when Buff Beauty followed me on Instagram and I promptly followed back, only for them to un follow me!
I love it when people do that...

Luckily for both of us my curiosity got the better of me and just a short drive from home led me to The Boulevard, 19 Park Lane, Umhlanga Ridge.
The Buff Beauty Parlour "where miracles are performed daily" so they claim, is a sister salon to the well known Teremok Spa in lower Umhlanga, which immediately indicates to me that good salon genes have been passed down!
Buff is well worth a visit for both Buff Girls and Buff Guys.

Their treatment menu is specific and focuses on perfectly polished nails, precision waxing and all things lashes and brows. I did experience a pedicure last week, which I will write and post soon, but in this post I wanted to let my photos show you why this little haven of retro Hollywood delight is a must visit and soon...

BENEFIT FAKE UP HYDRATING CREASE CONTROL CONCEALER {REVIEW}

I cannot emphasise to you how much love and passion I have developed for benefit since the brands re launch into South Africa in 2015.

I have been doing series of review posts over the past few months on budget concealers and just to point out that this award winning fake up Hydrating Crease Control Concealer from benefit  at R335
does not fall into the budget category, but more high end.

benefit fake up Hydrating Crease Control Concealer

fake up
is a fragrance free "stick" concealer which gets my approval straight away, as I feel that I have more control with the application and I can see exactly when the product is coming to an end.As you can see from my photo the concealing colour runs down the
centre of the bullet with the moisturising element surrounding it.

This hydrating crease-control concealer contains vitamin E & apple seed extract and
glides beautifully onto the skin, however you will need to blend in a little with your finger or blender to ensure that there are no streaks and the colour is evenly distributed.
Even though I apply an eye treatment every morning I liked the comfort that the double product layer provided. At no point during the day did my foundation or concealer crease under my eye, which can sometimes happen with non moisturising concealers, so on that claim benefit fake up scores top marks.
    fake up
is formulated to hide dark circles and diffuse fine lines for a silky smooth, ultra-natural look and again on this point it scores highly on the cover factor. It soon becomes apparent with use that fake up is more than a concealer it's a 2 in 1 concealer and an under eye hydrating stick, hence the price.
     Available in three shades
    01 Light/02 Medium/03 Dark
I bought the 02 Medium which is a good colour match for my under eye skin tone.
If you are looking for an extremely hydrating concealing product that doesn't cake or crease and provides good coverage, then check out fake up.
