BEAUTY PRODUCTS CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW {JUNE 2018}

It's nearly the beginning of a new month, so here are 4 products that I will be
putting to the test during June.

1/2

These 2 L'Oreal products are not available in SA and were part of my recent UK haul.
The L'Oréal Bonjour Nudista Awakening Skin Tint,
on paper looks like the kind of "no make makeup" product that I've been looking for,
quite some time,so fingers crossed that this is the end of my search.

I spotted the L'Oreal True Match Highlight online and just added to my shopping list,
so it wasn't on a wish list or anything, but it sounded interesting.

3.

This will be my fourth product review on the French brand LA ROCHE-POSAY
and I do love a good Micellar Water, so hopefully this will be just as good as
the other products I've reviewed.

4.

Caudalie is a French face and body care range based on Vinotherapy.
This is the first product that I'm trying from this brand, but I have to say
I've already earmarked a couple of other products that I'd really love to try.
I am a huge fan of facial mineral water sprays/mists and this
Caudalie Grape Water
appealed to me, so look out for my review during this month.

GARNIER MOISTURE BOMB FACE MIST {REVIEW}

This product was part of my UK Haul that my London "Kiddiewink"
brought over for me in March this year.
It was a product I had seen on a previous visit and I was curious, as it sounded
perfect for people like "moi" living in sunny climes.

The Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb Protect forms part of their Moisture Bomb
collection of products, but this particular product isn't available in South Africa,
 not as yet anyway.

On the surface this seems to be an interesting multi-tasking product of note.
However, call me "Old School", I'm always sceptical
and doubtful when beauty products have been formulated to do
so much...

Advertised as
A new generation of mist that instantly refreshes skin and protects it from daily aggressions:
UV Pollution and oxidation.
It combines antioxidant pomegranate, hydrating glycerin and UV Filters SPF 30
in a texture as light and invisible as air.

It's presented in a handbag friendly on-the-go spray format and can be sprayed
anytime, anywhere either under or over make-up.

Whist the concept of this protecting product is somewhat unique and
I had high hopes that this could become a daily spritz type product
for my skin in the Durban climate, I unfortunately I have two problems,
which were "biggies" for me!

The spray is too forceful, its similar to the spray nozzle on a
deodorant/anti perspirant.I seriously had difficulty in blasting this product
onto my face, as it seemed so alien and it also had that awful deodorant chemical
propellant smell, which sadly just made it a NO NO for me.

Garnier Moisture Bomb Face Mist can, lid on sitting on ice

I personally think it's misleading to call this product a mist,
as for me it was definitely a spray and not a mist format.

I was also a little wary as to how even the distribution of the product was across
my face. They recommend you shake the product well, close eyes and
hold the container 15 cms away from your face and spray in a Z shape.
It also claims to be non greasy, however I could feel the
hydrating glycerin layer on my skin for some time after application.

I'm a daily user of mineral water sprays and they form an important part of my
daily beauty regime and I was hoping that this would take that a step further
with the added protecting benefits.

Perhaps it is a great product that works well,I don't know, as for me it stumbled
at the application step...
Let me know in the comments below if you have tried and liked.

Here's a video from Garnier that sells you on the benefits of this type of
convenient spray product.

Despite normally rating Garnier skin care products I was disappointed
with this product, however here are some of my other, more positive reviews.

BIONIKE DEFENCE ROSYS SOOTHING MASK {REVIEW}

Apologies, as this review is long overdue and has been hiding
amongst my drafts.

I was sent this face mask from the Italian brand BioNike some time ago
and it forms part of their extensive DEFENCE offering, which covers
face, body, make-up and hair products.

DEFENCE ROSYS

has been formulated to hydrate and protect
hyper-sensitive skins, especially skins that are Rosacea or Couperose prone.
(skin that is prone to redness, where the blood vessels dilate and are very
visible on the surface of the skin particularly around the cheek, nose and chin)

The DEFENCE ROSYS Soothing Mask provides an instant feeling of relief and calm.
Now whilst I don't suffer from Rosacea I could immediately feel it soothe
and refresh my skin and I can only imagine how this mask would be a wonderful
product for any skin that is seriously hyper sensitive.

Containing special marine polysaccharides,
Almond Oil,
 Shea Butter and Panthenol
that all work to richly moisturise, protect, soothe and strengthen this fragile
skin type.

Apply a generous layer to the face, avoiding the eye area,
2-3 times a week or as needed. Leave on for 10-15 minutes, then remove
any excess with a damp sponge.

As with all BioNike products they're :

Fragrance Free
Preservative Free
and
Nickel Tested

If you have or know of anyone that has a skin that's prone to redness, flushing,
or a skin that is very reactive to certain stimulants etc.
then The DEFENCE ROSYS range
is certainly worth further investigation, especially as there are not too many
brands that focus on this and often serious skin complaint of Rosacea.

The best part is - the products are super affordable...

MINERALINE TIME IT! ANTI-AGEING SERUM {REVIEW}

Mineraline
is most probably a range of skin and body care products
that you haven't even noticed on the general shelves in Dischem, that was until
the collection  was re-formulated and re-packaged earlier this year.
Now located in a dedicated bay amongst the more well known skincare brands,
I'm sure things are about to change for these affordable products
enriched with Dead Sea Salts and Minerals.

Since ancient times, the Dead Sea (which is actually a lake) has been renowned
for its therapeutic properties, as its unique due to it high concentrations of
salts and 21 minerals. The beneficial salts and muds from the Dead Sea
are known to wonderfully detox, purify, exfoliate, calm, hydrate and cleanse our bodies.
In fact the list of benefits is too long to mention in this blog.
Having never tried any products that contain Dead Sea Minerals I was curious.

Mineraline TIME IT! Anti-Ageing Serum bottle and box

I was sent several products to try and review and amongst them was
an interesting Anti-Ageing Serum TIME IT!
This nightly serum has been formulated to significantly reduce wrinkle depth,
while firming, toning and hydrating the skin.
Serums generally contain a higher concentration of active ingredients and the
TIME IT! Serum is no exception as it contains an exclusive combo
of the most powerful minerals taken from the depths of the Dead Sea.

Mineraline TIME IT! Anti-Ageing Serum bottle

Mineraline TIME IT! Anti-Ageing Serum bottle, box in rose gold make-up bag with a rose gold pen

The TIME IT! Serum pump bottle has an upmarket and qualitative feel
to it and the bottle was surprisingly heavy and solid.
The product has a pleasant fragrance and is an oil rather than a
gel/cream type serum.

Oil serums/treatments can vary tremendously, often they can have an
unrefined feel to them, especially the cheaper offerings, but thankfully this
serum had a fine refined texture to it
and although felt oily upon application it was soon absorbed and felt
comfortable with no oily residue what so ever.
I found that literally one pump of the serum was plenty to cover my face, neck
and décolletage. I have been applying daily and it can be used under a day or
night cream, personally I preferred to apply in the evening.

It's recommended for all skin types that are concerned with the signs of ageing,
however I personally have my doubts as to whether the texture would sit well
initially on a combination/oily skin and this is where a "less is more"
attitude should be adopted with the quantity applied.

Having used many serums in my TIME I found this one to offer
an extremely effective anti-ageing serum, at an extremely affordable price.

So next time you find yourself in the beauty section of Dischem just
glance your eyes over to the Mineraline wall bay and check out there
different ranges and products that have on offer, you may be pleasantly surprised
like "Moi"...

Mineraline products are not tested on animals, Paraben and Mineral free.

The TIME IT! range is completed with 3 other products:

Day Cream R245
Night Cream R245
Eye Gel R215

Mineraline TIME IT!
Anti-Ageing Serum

50ml

R245

The complete range of 4 core anti-ageing products
will cost you under R1000 and that's pretty good, considering many serums
on the market are way over R1000 alone.

Let me know in the comments below if you have tried anything from the
Mineraline Range...

SUSANNE KAUFMANN MOISTURISING MASK {REVIEW}

Having never heard of this relatively new brand I had to do my research,
so before I get into the product review, here's some background to the
Organic niche skin and body care line
Susanne Kaufmann

Susanne Kaufmann
was born and raised in the Bregenzer Forest Austria –
a unique valley in the Alps, where the community shares a unique appreciation
and understanding of the healing properties of nature – has harnessed this centuries-old wisdom,
passed down from generation to generation, to create an exceptional,
results-orientated and scientifically-proven range of
natural skin and body care that promotes a powerful sense of wellbeing.
Developed in collaboration with a team of pharmacists and dermatologists,
Susanne’s vision has grown into an extensive collection of skin-specific formulas –
targeted treatments designed to address the full spectrum of common
skin concerns and in turn,
 help to re-establish equilibrium.

This range of products are filled, sealed and packed by hand into very plain glass jars with no fancy frills,
in fact I would most probably
have not given this, somewhat boring looking, range a second glance if
I saw it merchandised on the shelf.
However this is a real case of "don't judge a book (product) by its cover"
for what lies beneath the lid is far from plain and boring.

There is something I find so satisfying about using a Luxury face mask,
for me it's a product where you can truly feel the quality of the ingredients on
application and The Susanne Kaufmann Moisturizing Mask
is a real pamper for the skin.
It's without doubt a deeply replenishing and intensely moisturising mask.
It's a must-have for all those whose skin is particularly parched,
stressed or lacklustre.

Initially you notice the gentle yet wonderful aroma of the mask, as it certainly
has an Alpine fresh fragrance, which reminded me
very much of the original Clarins Cleanser Milk with Alpine Herbs.

This rich velvety mask is also packed with wonderful ingredients that
quite literally make me happy:

Bee's Wax and Hazel Nut Oil
richly nourishes the skin

 Wheat Germ Oil
stimulates the metabolism and has tissue-strengthening properties

Pansy Extract
has a calming effect that relieves irritation providing immediate relief
from tightness and discomfort

Sodium Hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid)
attracts and retains up to 1000 times its molecular weight in water,
to leave skin perfectly firm, fresh and luminous.

Suitable for all types of skin.
Generously apply to the face, neck and décolletage after cleansing,
allow to work for at least ten minutes,
then remove gently with lukewarm water.
It can be used one to two times per week, but I squeezed in a third
application.

After using the mask my skin not only felt nourished, comforted, plumped
but I immediately noticed that my face had an
almost relaxed and rested look about it,
which to be honest I don't think I have ever noticed before after using a face mask.

When reading back over the benefits of this mask on the Susanne Kaufmann
website this sentence stood out
"The moisturising mask hydrates the skin and removes feelings of tension".
Confirmation that this mask is different to other prestige moisturising masks
that I've tried and has piqued my interest to learn and try more from this brand.
If you are looking to change from high end skincare to effective Organic
high end skincare then Susanne Kaufmann
may be well worth some more investigation.

The 15ml sample jar that I got in the SkinsCosmetics Beauty Box some
weeks back
will happily provide me with several future generous applications.

In South Africa Susanne Kaufmann is relatively unknown premium niche brand,
 but is available from
Skins Cosmetics
in Sandton Shopping Centre, Johannesburg,
South Africa

Please let me know, in the comments below, if you have heard of this
brand or have any great recommendations within their range...

3 LIP PRODUCTS THAT ARE WORKING FOR ME

Having never written this type of post previously and with Winter on its way,
I thought I would let you know
about three lip products that I'm currently loving and are working for me.
Considering that the condition of my lips has never been better,
I thought I would share with you the combo of products that have helped them
to reach this often illusive comfortable smooth state.

Like most people I find myself experiencing phases where my lips are extremely dry
and uncomfortable and then there are other times where I have no issues whatsoever.
Weather conditions, bouts of flu and flying are all triggers for my lips to go into
"Dry Down" mode.

L'Oreal Smooth Sugars Glow Scrub packaging

Exfoliation is vital to achieve smooth lips and there are a couple of specific
lip exfoliators around and my previous go to lip scrub was always the
but I'm afraid it's been made somewhat redundant now due to the appearance of the
L'Oreal Smooth Sugars Glow Scrub for face and lips.
This multi-tasking product does a great job in a gentle and effective way.

La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Repairing Lip Balm product out of box

Another recent purchase has been the
LA ROCHE-POSAY Cicaplast Repairing Lip Barrier Balm.
I apply this fragrance free product every night and it seems to not only sort out
the driest of lips, but also keeps them in a good condition.

LOV Cosmetics open lipstick lid off

Certain types of lipsticks, especially the popular matte formula's,
can often aggravate dry, chapped lips, as I've discovered on several occasions.
I am loving the formula and finish of the
L.O.V cosmetics LipAffair Colour & Care Lipstick
It offers me a perfect mix of moisturising comfort and pigment longevity.

All in All,
this product combination is working for "moi" and long may the benefits to my lips
continue...
