Christmas crackers are festive table decorations that make a snapping sound
when pulled open, and often contain a small gift, paper hat and a joke.
Crackers are traditionally pulled during Christmas dinner or at Christmas parties.
The tradition of pulling a cracker with someone dates back to 1847
and usually contained Bon Bon sweets.
They have become a part of Christmas celebrations around the world.
The "gift" part of a cracker has come a long way since the original
inclusion of Bon Bon sweets and today you can buy pretty much get
anything, as a surprise gift inside a Christmas cracker.
