BEAUTY PRODUCTS CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW {OCTOBER 2020}

 I only have two products under review during October and this is
planned, as I have so many products on the go, that I've still to finish and
post my reviews on, that I really don't want to add more.

1.

PERCY & REED
FINISHING POLISH

PERCY & REED will be more familiar to my UK readers, as we do not
have this British hair brand in SA.
This award winning A-List hairdressing duo (PERCY & REED) launched
their own product line following the success of their hair salon
back in 2007.
As you may already know, I'm not a huge user of hair smoothing/finishing
 products, as I received this product in a Beauty Advent Calendar last year,
 so it's finally getting its day, here on Beauty Shout Box.

2.

BIODERMA
SENSIBIO H2O

I cannot believe that I'm only trying out now, the iconic
BIODERMA Sensibio H2O
which is a Make-Up Removing Micelle Solution.
Over the years I have put to the test many Micellar Waters, some
from drustore brands and others from mid and high-end brands and I
always prefer the drugstore brands, as they not only seem to do
a more efficient cleanse, but they're more friendly on the beauty budget.
The BIODERMA has been around for years and in fact was the
first Micellar Water that I was aware of, which makes it all the more
 baffling as to why I'm only trying it out...now!

HUXLEY MOROCCAN GARDENER BODY OIL {REVIEW}

For me HUXLEY is a relative new brand and it's my first dabble into the much
talked about Korean beauty brands.
As always heres a brief overview of the ethos of this Korean brand...

Huxley is a contemporary skincare brand from South Korea. Their formulations respect the skin barrier with minimalist, plant-derived ingredients. The key ingredient found in all Huxley products is Sahara Prickly Pear Seed Oil, a desert cactus and real wonder of nature. It contains unique phytochemicals that provide intensive moisturisation due to its excellent ability to retain water. It also supports skin barrier protection against environmental aggressors due to a high concentration of Vitamin E (Tocopherol), a potent antioxidant. With a 61% Linoleic acid content, Sahara Prickly Pear Seed Oil ensures a far lighter, fast-absorbing texture with a greater moisturising effect than other African oils, such as Argan oil.
Huxley products are manufactured at a cutting-edge facility in South Korea and preserved within high-quality packaging.
All products are vegan-friendly, Dermatologically tested and hypoallergenic.I recently received a 3ml sachet sample of the Moroccan Gardener Body Oil from the Korean skincare brand
HUXLEY
I am currently using their Glow Awakening Cream, which I'm enjoying, so
its a nice change to review a body product, although I'm not sure how much
of my body I can cover with 3mls of product...

Huxley Moroccan Gardener Body Oil is a light and luxurious body product containing Sahara Prickly Pear Seed Oil in addition to Huxley’s signature scent.
It respects and supports the skin barrier whilst offering a heightened
skincare experience.

Apply on a slightly damp skin after your bath or shower and massage
over your entire body until completely absorbed.
This is a lightweight, fast absorbing, non sticky body oil that provides
 deep moisturisation. The signature scent is very pleasant and non intrusive
and I would imagine that used in conjunction with the
 Huxley Body Wash and Body Lotion it would layer into a delightful lingering
fragrance of Green Leaves, Jasmine,Rose Lily,Gardenia and White Musk.

For me it's an "nice to have" product and not
a necessity, as always, my advice is...
 if your beauty budget is limited then prioritise your spend on face care
products, rather than on body products.
However if you are a lover of Body Oils I cant think of any reason
that you wouldn't enjoy this one from HUXLEY.

NATIONAL HERITAGE DAY IN SOUTH AFRICA

South Africans celebrate National Heritage Day (public holiday)
today the 24th of September by remembering the cultural heritage of the many cultures that make up the population of South Africa. Various events are staged throughout the country to commemorate this day.

It also just happens to be the National Braai Day, so what better way to celebrate ones heritage than joining friends and family over the coals of a braai fire.

Enjoy your day today,

 which ever way you choose to celebrate your heritage...

L'OCCITANE INVIGORATING FACE & EYE MASK POD {REVIEW}

This unfortunately was not an intended purchase, but rather one of those
in-store impulse add on sales that was not considered, because if I had,
I would have reminded myself about the last time I bought one
of these mono dose pod face masks from L'Occitane was a complete waste of money and the whole episode left me somewhat disappointed and to honest slightly angry with myself that I didn't take the product back and complain.
To read my full review and issues with another mono dose mask

grabbed my attention with this particular mask, they do a variety of pod masks for various skin types and conditions, was the fact that this mask could be
used on both the face and around the eye area...Sold!

This mask is Ideal for all skin types, this face & eyes mask and promises to immediately revives tired skin
(dull complexion, dehydrated skin, under-eye puffiness)
and provides protection and hydration to the skin.

Formulated with melon from Provence and vitamin C, both known for their
super-antioxidant properties, it helps to fight against the dull complexion.

Skin regains its healthy glow. Under-eye puffiness is minimised.
The complexion around the eye is boosted.

Once you peel back the seal on the pod, a wonderful delicate melon fragrance
is what hits you first and the mask has a beautiful light, melting sorbet texture
and one that I can't say I've experienced previously.

The 6ml pod may last for 3 applications, as opposed to one application
and as I've said before this format does work out to be
a very expensive way to mask ongoing, but ideal for travel.

This mask can be used 3 ways:

1. Apply a generous layer on a clean and dry face
.
2. Apply around the eye area and leave for 5 minutes.

3. Apply all over face, neck and around the eye area.

With all methods leave it on for 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with water.

Use 1 to 2 a week.

You can pop it into the fridge before usage for extra cooling effects
and I highly recommend this, as it makes for the most wonderful
invigorating, refreshing mask ever and I loved it.
My skin felt fresh, revived and surprisingly smooth and the jar purchase is on
 the cards and without doubt this will become
a firm favourite in my "mask wardrobe" and is ideal for when my skin
is needing a quick 5 minute pick me up mask.

SUNDAY SAMPLE

Several weeks ago I was sent some HUXLEY samples with my Dermastore order
and amongst them was this very interesting sample sachet of
SECRET OF SAHARA BODY OIL
MOROCCAN GARDENER

For those that are not familiar, Huxley is a contemporary skincare brand
from South Korea.
Their formulations respect the skin barrier with minimalist,
plant-derived ingredients.
The key ingredient found in all Huxley products is Sahara Prickly Pear Seed Oil,
a desert cactus and real wonder of nature.

Huxley Moroccan Gardener Body Oil promises t be a light and luxurious body product containing Sahara Prickly Pear Seed Oil in addition to
Huxley’s signature scent.
It respects and supports the skin barrier whilst offering a heightened skincare experience. Not being a huge fan of body oils I'm curious to see if this one
 will see me having a change of heart.
So pop back next week to find out just what I thought about this body oil

Let me know if you have used this product and what your personal
thoughts are...

BYTERRY HYALURONIC HYDRA-FOUNDATION {REVIEW}

Over the last couple of years I've become a little obsessed with BYTERRY products, whether it be her skincare or make-up.
Having been lucky enough to have been sent some of her products as PR from Metropolitan Cosmetics.
I have also purchased several and I will leave the Pink Link below so you can catch
up on my previous reviews.

Thankfully BYTERRY products are available exclusively in South Africa at
and they have an excellent online delivery service, if like me you don't live near
one of their 3 beautiful Johannesburg stores.

Now this particular treatment foundation has  been on my beauty wishlist since
its launch back in 2019 and I managed to place an order during lockdown.

BYTERRY Hyaluronic Hydra-Foundation
As usual I had heard so many rave reviews and that always makes me a little
wary, but upon reading the wonderful benefits of this super charged
foundation I couldn't settle until I had tried it for myself.

Promoted as hardworking, luminous and weightless, which I 100% agree with, the Hyaluronic Hydra-Foundation floods skin with moisture, delivering seamless coverage
 with an ultra-fine texture.
Even though its formulated to suit all skin types, it's a particularly good foundation
for dry skin, working to plump out wrinkles and fine lines and create a matte luminous finish, now I'm not aware of too many mature women that enjoy a matte finish
from their foundation, as I'm sure most will agree, that we need all the glow we can muster from our skincare and make-up, so don't be put off by the "matte" word
as the foundation contains light-reflecting pigments that create that
"lit-from-within" luminous glow.

This unique formula infuses the skin with Hyaluronic Acid to trap moisture like a magnet,
locking it into the skin for long-lasting hydration.
Special ‘Skin-Fit’ technology controls shine and ensures the formula stays
put all day while SPF30 protects against UV rays.

They don't have an extensive range of shades only 15 and they're broken down into
 5 Cool, 5 Neutral and 5 Warm tones and to help you in choosing
the correct shade when you order online from Metropolitan Cosmetics
they thoughtfully include a sample of your ordered shade, so you can test before
you actually open the full size, thus allowing for a return.
This worked perfectly for me and I was a match for
300N (medium fair neutral)

The easy to use a dropper delivers a precise custom application tailored to the
look you want, is a feature that I've been enjoying, so:
2 drops for sheer coverage
4 drops for medium coverage
 6 drops for full coverage.
Can be applied with a beauty sponge, foundation brush or your trusty fingertips.

This product has a Vegan formula with no animal-derived ingredients.

Even though this foundation is on the runny side, which did take a little getting

used to, it didn't disappoint and lived up to all my expectations, as it seems
everything that I have tried from BYTERRY does.
As I'm getting older I find myself gravitating more to a treatment foundation,
one that has skincare benefits combined with a more natural 2nd skin feel and one that
doesn't settle into my pesky lines and wrinkles and I think BYTERRY
have nailed it with this product.

Treatment foundations unfortunately come in more expensive and this little
skin plumping gem from BYTERRY is no exception, but it's a shift in the
beauty budget that needs to be factored in, as our skin ages and its
one I'm happy to do...

QUICKIE PRODUCT REVIEWS {SEPTEMBER 2020}

There are 3 products in today's QPR post and I have given 2 products a 10/10
score, which I don't think has happened before...

1.

Brand : NATUR VITAL
Product : SOS FORTIFYING HAIR MASK
Size : 300ml
Price R109

Currently I'm using the shampoo and conditioner from the same range and
as mentioned in my July QPR post I've been loving this combo and it prompted me
to buy the corresponding Hair Mask.
This mask claims to restructure the hair fibre from deep inside,while nourshing
the root of the hair and increasing the resistance to breaking recommended
 for repairing weakened air. This intense conditioner is ideal for hair that has been damaged and needs some tender loving care.
Having used it several times now I'm loving the softness this trio of products
gives to my hair, without overloading and weighing my hair down with product,
 so it's a big thumbs up for this mask.
Available at DISCHEM

Verdict : 8/10

2.

Brand : INOAR
Product : HYDRATING SANITIZER GEL
Size : 500ml
Price R150

This new INOAR Argan Oil-infused antiseptic hand sanitizer gel has a unique formula
that's nourishing and non-sticky and after all the hand sanitisers we've gone through
over the past 6 months, this is by far the favourite in our house.
It contains 70% alcohol ensuring that 99,9% of bacteria, viruses and germs are
immediately eliminated, BUT, leaves your skin feeling nourished, moisturized
and soft, due to the inclusion of Argan Oil.
Inoar’s new Sanitizer is gentle on even the most sensitive, damaged and dry hands.
Available at leading Hair Salons and online www.inoar.co.za

Verdict : 10/10

3.

Brand : BYTERRY
Product : OMBRE BLACKSTAR CREAM EYESHADOW
Size : 1.64g
Price R660

I actually reviewed this BYTERRY Cream eyeshadow stylo back in January
and as you will see from that review I raved about it and since then it's become
a firm favourite of mine.
I have since added another shade to my collection called Frozen Quartz and this soft
pink/brown shade is so flattering especially for the more mature of us
and as I said in my full review they're super easy to apply, so if you're not so confident anymore with applying powder eyeshadows, then I highly recommend this product
as it's very forgiving with application and is easy to blend that you can't go
wrong...
Available at metropolitan cosmetics

Verdict : 10/10

URBAN DECAY STAY NAKED CORRECTING CONCEALER {REVIEW}

I recently took advantage of the URBAN DECAY 50% Off Sale and used it
as a way to stock up on some of my much loved tried and tested products and at
the same time I popped into my basket a couple of products that I've been
wanting to try out.
If you would like to check out what I bought in the big sale then click on the
 Pink Link below
 and for all those much loved faves you will find Pink Links
within the Sale Haul post.

Similarly with a mascara ,I'm always the hunt for a "best" concealer one to
help conceal and camouflage my problem area and that's my dark circles under the
eyes along with redness around my nose area.

The
STAY NAKED
CORRECTING CONCEALER,
on paper, seemed to be the one and I couldn't pass by the opportunity to purchase
one at half the normal price.

The URBAN DECAY NAKED Collection is the Holy Grail of the URBAN DECAY
product line-up and to accompany their hugely popular long wearing, full coverage
 Stay Naked Foundation, the Stay Naked Concealer is a perfect side-kick for the 50 foundation shades, as there are 25 shades of concealer with nine intensities, three master tones and five undertones to camouflage, accentuate and sculpt as you see fit.

The patented, wave-tip applicator makes it easy to get the right level of coverage. Use the flat side for precise, light application or lean into the curve for a heavier dose of product.

As with many duel sided applicators I tend to just apply and not worry too much
as to which side I'm using and this applicator was no exception. I still found it easy and effortless to apply, especially under the eye area.
This product is suitable for all skin types, its vegan and cruelty free.

Under advice I opted for 30NN a light neutral with a neutral undertone, which seemed to be an ideal shade for my skin tone.
The Stay Naked concealer is a buildable, full coverage concealer that is
 long wearing (up to 24hrs),waterproof and doesn't transfer.
I enjoyed that it had a breathable, flexible formula and didn't look cakey,
or dry despite giving a matte finish.

Even though the formula is ultra-pigmented,it's also lightweight and it covered
the darkness under my eyes and the redness around my nose surprisingly well.
Not having used the Stay Naked Foundation myself I would imagine, used with
its namesake concealer, it would be a formidable "Stay All Day" duo and I can
understand the love for this combo.

MONTHLY FAVOURITES {JULY & AUGUST 2020}

I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending all of these products
that I've reviewed over the past two months, as they have to be some of the best
products that I have tested over the 8 years of me writing my blog.
There are 3 skincare products and a treatment foundation.
To read all the full reviews on these fantastic products click on the
Pink Links below.

1.

AVÈNE
SOOTHING RADIANCE
MASK

Having used the French skincare brand Avène since it was first launched in
South Africa I cannot believe this Soothing Radiance Mask has escaped my attention.
I'm so glad that I've finally discovered it and it's a mask that I highly recommend
as a must have face mask in your masking collection.
It's a non drying true moisture bath that leaves your skin refreshed,
calm and comforted. Ideal for application post peels, after sunburn, if your skin feels tight,
irritated, or just simply dehydrated and dull.

2.

ZELENS
YOUTH GLOW
FOUNDATION

This was a first for me as, it was the first time using anything from this
cutting edge of high-performance, age-defying American skin care brand
ZELENS and I was blown away.
This next generation, reviving treatment foundation helps reduce signs of stress
 and fatigue while creating a perfectly smooth, even-toned complexion
with a glowing finish.
Even though I only reviewed this product from a sample I already have it on
my wish list.

~~~~~~
3.
EXUVIANCE
TRIPLE MICRODERMABRASION
FACE POLISH
This is also another first for me as I've never tried any products from the
Dermatologist developed brand
EXUVIANCE
Exfoliating products are my beauty "thing" and this one did not disappoint
and its become one of my favourite exfoliators of all time.
The Exuviance Triple Microdermabrasion Face Polish is a completely
innovative exfoliator that masters a triple-action approach to skin transformation
 in a single yet powerful treatment. It contains a unique blend of physical, chemical and enzyme rejuvenators and I love the product.
4.
LUMENE
NORDIC HYDRA
INTENSE 24H MOISTURISER
LUMENE from Finland is a brand that I have been soo enjoying and I
will be discovering more of in the future, but sadly it's not available in
South Africa.
This delightful clean fresh fragranced cream is light, almost soufflé like,
quick absorbing and intensely hydrating from the very first application.
