STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI UPDATE

I love SD'S, so on a recent trip to Cape Town I continued my search for the best SD'S (Strawberry Daiquiri's) around.
I tried five from some of the more well known restaurants around the Camps Bay, Sea Point, Granger Bay and V&A area.

Harvey's at the Winchester Mansions:

6/10
Taste: Could taste the alcohol and had an slightly unpleasant sharpness that came through over the sweetness. The ice was not crushed smooth enough as you can see in the photo.
Garnish: A huge slice of lime, not nice!
Venue: Situated on the terrace of the Winchester Mansions Hotel. Can watch the sun go down and the ships go by!
Price: R40 Good price for Cape Town.

La Perla Restaurant:

8/10
Taste: This was a good SD and you could taste the alcohol, so no sending back to the bar to locate the alcohol....actually I had two, as it was so nice....
Garnish: Zero,nothing...this let you down La Perla. If there had been a strawberry garnish you would have had another point....
Venue: On the terrace overlooking the comings and goings of Sea Point.Great place to people watch and watch the sun go down.
Price:R50

The Grand Beach Restaurant:

6/10
Taste: A little too much like a "slush puppy" and only a feint taste of alcohol.
Garnish: A sprig of mint, but a strawberry would have been better! Also the glass was not a tall glass
Venue: The best in Cape Town, on a sandy beach overlooking the sea across Table Bay.On a summers evening this is a perfect sun downer spot.I will even forgive the not so great SD, for the awesome view!
Price: R50

Harbour House Restaurant V&A:

7/10
Taste: Good and again I could taste the alcohol, so much so, I had to order a second one to just make sure!
Garnish: Lemon...Please,please guys use a strawberry....
Venue: A vibey, busy restaurant overlooking the V&A shopping center and bustling Harbour of Cape Town.
Price: R35 Which is one of the cheapest SD'S around!

Col'Cacchio - Camps Bay

8/10
Taste: The best out of the lot tried on this trip
Garnish: The only place to use a strawberry as a garnish...well done Col'Cacchio.
Venue: Busy Pizza chain restaurant, one of the best in the chain and I have tried several. Its situated on the first floor and if you get one of the tables alongside the fold back windows, you have a uninterrupted view of the sun going down over Camps Bay.What could be nicer than a good SD in hand and in a position, to watch a wonderful Cape Town sun set.
Price: R40

My best SD is to be found at the Oyster Box Hotel in Umhlanga Rocks, so it remains top of my SD Pops!
