I LOVE A GIFT

I love receiving a gift, who doesn't and even more so if the giver has taken the time
to create something extra special.
I have found some beautiful gifting ideas that can be easily replicated, even for the likes of "Moi", hopefully making me now the giver of  some wonderful gifts.
Hope this post inspires you to get a little creative
Enjoy!

GET TO THE POINT WITH DURBAN SHUTTLE SERVICES

Getting a lift to and from the King Shaka International airport north of Durban is not always easy, as often you are relying on your partner or a friend to help you out in the early or late hours of the day. Depending on the length of your business trip or holiday it's often not cost effective to take your own car and park it at the airport.....Not only is the parking expensive, but I returned once to find that my car had been bumped whilst parked. On another occasion I came back to find that I had a flat tyre ! To add to this frustration it was also pouring with rain and the outside, shade cloth parking offered me no protection and all this after a tiring week long business trip.
All I wanted at 8pm was to get home to my family ...and have a nice Strawberry Daiquiri..made by my "better half".
How I wished Durban Shuttle Services were around then!

.

Durban Shuttle Services is an easy and convenient way to taxi around Durban. Hassle free booking, competitive pricing and professional service

I have used the service and I can highly recommend, as the booking was very easy and efficient and they re confirmed...it was also punctual and most importantly for me the driving was steady and safe, not like some of the "hair raising" trips that I have experienced over the years...
Michael the owner/driver is very helpful and knowledgeable,so for anyone coming from overseas or out of town...He is a "driving" computer of advice and useful tips on the region!

The rates "to and from" the airport are dependant on where you stay, as there are 5 Zones.
Zone 1- the one way rate is R250 up to R450 for Zone 5.

DOMESTIC GODDESS SUCCESS !

As I have already explained in my previous post "Hazel's Mess in the Kitchen"
I am no Domestic Goddess, but then I thought about it long and hard (since that post actually) and I realised that I have had one "Domestic Goddess" success from Nigella Lawson's book of the same name, so really I shouldn't be so hard on myself!

I can sense your anticipation in wanting to know what the success was,
I am somewhat embarrassed to tell you, as it really is Easy Peasy!
Many of you may have already tried this, but for those that haven't, then read carefully as this is my own, easier adaptation of that famous Goddess's recipe...

Slice the Haloumi into thick slices
Heat a dry fry pan...no oil
Place the slices into the hot pan and fry until golden brown on both sides
Serve with a good shop bought Sweet Chilli sauce as a starter or with a salad for a light lunch

Voila!
How easy is that?

Haloumi with Sweet Chilli Dipping Sauce and it is delish...
so absolutely anyone can have at least one Domestic Goddess success...

HAZELS' MESS IN THE KITCHEN

If you haven't already guessed I adore anything strawberry, so you can imagine my delight to find that Woolworth's have savings on their punnets of Strawberries.....yum yum...They have a few different options but an 800gr punnet for R28.99... is great value!

I must confess I am no "Domestic Goddess" in the kitchen and even reading and attempting a few recipes from Nigella's Lawson's Domestic Goddess book didn't turn me into one either, so I resort to simple fail proof recipes....no rocket science needed!

"Hazel's Mess" is my aptly named, simplified adaptation of the traditional well know Eton Mess...

Are you ready for this....I did warn you it was simple:

Wash,
Hull and quarter the strawberries
Whip a carton of single cream or if whipping is too much effort then buy a carton of double cream
Break up shop bought meringues but keep as reasonably large chunks
Add all these ingredients into a bowl and mix
Transfer into nice individual bowls or glasses and serve

You can use any type of fresh seasonal fruit and you can sweeten to taste...
so just throw anything in and create your own
"Mess" and enjoy!

Ok! that was exhausting.....
I am off for a rest now, as there is too much mess in my kitchen!
