VINTAGE AVON DING DONG,AVON CALLING #TBT POST

This post goes back to November 2014 and how things have changed since
then, not only have Avon been through some difficult times, but some international
markets have even closed e.g. France, Australia and New Zealand
More and more sales are conducting online, but the Avon Ladies and now Men are still
an important part of the sales force...

~~~~~~
Having spent most of my life in the beauty industry I am thoroughly enjoying finding these vintage print ads on Pinterest and the internet.
This is a collection of ads from that household brand Avon, which believe it or not,
has been around for over 130 years.
Avon Products, Inc. is a multi-level marketing company in beauty, household, and personal care categories. Avon had annual sales of $4.7 billion worldwide in 2019.
It is the fourteenth-largest beauty company and is the second largest direct-selling enterprise in the world.
Avon have been empowering women since 1886 and is the world's leading direct seller of beauty and related products  Avon sells products in over 100 countries through their independent sales force of over 6.4 million representatives - which were back then fondly known as
 "Avon Ladies".
The original Avon lady was always well groomed and would carry her beauty wares in a case.
 I even remember a TV ad back in the UK from the 1960's, which showed such female carrying her Avon case and ringing the doorbell of a house, it went something like this..
Ding Dong Ding Dong..."Avon calling".
I have managed to find a collection of TV ads on YouTube from the 60's onwards.
Today these ladies have had to step aside to make way for a
new a new type of "beauty"
 the "Avon catalogue".
Avon representatives now show the catalogue to customers in their homes, at work, at social or leisure activities or to their friends and family. The representatives then send the orders to Avon and the products are delivered free of charge directly to the representatives' homes.
Enjoy!
BEAUTY SPRING CLEAN
 "Spring has Sprung"
in the Southern Hemisphere and it's the perfect time to do that all important
task of checking the expiry dates on your make-up and skincare products.
You know, those items that are in your make-up bag, bathroom cupboard
and especially make-up in stored handbags (I find so many lipsticks in my handbags)
 Well now is the time to lift them out and check them.
This past weekend I've taken the time and done this very task and I have to say
it always feels good, like any Spring Clean does.
If a beauty product has an expiry date on and many skincare products do
then it's easy to work through your beauty stash, but if they don't,
here's a guide.
If you have any of the below items (and we all have some)
way older than what the list recommends then de-clutter and toss them in the bin,
 as they have no place in your beauty life.
After saying that, I do have products that I have been using for slightly longer
than the recommended timings and in my opinion they're still good.
If you're in any doubt at all, then simply chuck it out,
as it really isn't worth risking infection
(especially from products that come into contact with the eye area)
 from any "Jimmy Germs" lurking.
Mascaras
3-4 months
Eye Liner & Lip Pencils
12-18 months
Liquid Eyeliner
 6 months or less
Lipsticks and Lip Glosses
1 year
Cream Eye shadows and Blushers
6-12 months
Powder Blushers and Eye Shadows
 1-2 years
Liquid Foundations and concealers
 6-12 months
Nail Polish
 1 year
But how do you know, how long a product is good for once opened?
Many products now have a (PAO) Period After Opening
and is represented by similar logos below.
Period after opening (PAO) refers to the amount of time a product will remain
 stable and safe for human use after it has first been opened.
If your product displays this logo then you know that your product is good for
 that number of months after opening.
(The problem can sometimes be remembering when you first opened the product)
However if any make-up, skincare or haircare products:
1.
 Smell rancid or Waxy
2.
   Have been exposed to really excessive heat
3.
                                        The colour or consistency has noticeably changed
                                                                            4.
                                                          Shows signs of visible mould
Then immediately discard.
L'OCCITANE IMMORTELLE DIVINE FOAMING CLEANSING CREAM {REVIEW}
Cleansing is the first important step in your twice daily beauty routine.
It's vital to start with a clean canvas before applying any treatment creams.
Even though I'm more of a Cleansing milk/lotion kinda a girl and always have
been I don't mind slotting a cleansing cream or balm, as my second cleanse
 into my skincare routine every now and then.
I've been using the
L'Occitane
Immortelle Divine Foaming Cleansing Cream
 twice a day (am & pm) for this past week and whilst this is not a full
long term review, I felt it was enough time for me to form an opinion
and straight off its like no other
cleansing product that I've ever tried, as it's a cream in foam texture.
This Foaming Cleansing Cream has been formulated for all skin types,
to be used following the Divine Cleansing Balm, as the second cleanse in the
Divine routine.
(I used this product 2 ways, as a second cleanse post using another cleanser
 and several times on its own)
 This rich luxurious cream transforms into a dense, generous foam on contact
with water to cleanse the face without drying the skin,
it gently rids the skin of impurities, traces of make-up and pollution,
which it does with relative ease.
After a minute or so of massaging it's easy to rinse or you can remove with
a wet face cloth and yes it does leaves the skin looking
 and feeling both clean, fresh and above all soft and Divine...
Being a lover of the all of the products in the
L'Occitane Immortelle Divine Range,
this foaming cleansing cream contains the same anti-ageing
immortelle essential oil, as the other products in the range
along with Vitamin E and all of its antioxidant benefits, whilst
 95% of its ingredients are from natural origins.
This cleanser doesn't come cheap and whilst it forms an important part of
 the Divine regime and when it comes to high end brands and let's face it,
the Divine range is high end, I always advocate that you buy and use
the prescribed products in the range to ensure the best results.
I really enjoyed my weeks trial with the Divine Foaming Cleansing Cream
and even though the product is DIVINE sadly it hasn't converted me.
I'm just not a huge fan of these types of cleansing products, so personally
I can't justify the price.
BEAUTY PRODUCTS CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW {AUGUST 18}
I normally post my "Currently Under Review" posts right at the beginning
of a new month, but after being "woman down" with flu
I'm running rather late with this one.
This month I have a couple of Urban Decay lip products to try and as promised
another product from BioNike.
I also have a product from a brand, Dr Gobac and having never tried anything from
this brand before, so I'm looking forward to experiencing something totally new.
1.
I recently went to the launch of the Urban Decay store in Gateway
and I picked up several of their products including one of their
 infamous Vice Lipstick and a HI-FI Shine Lipgloss,
 so I'm going to give these two lip products a try and as always I will let you
know whether they're worth parting with your hard earned cash or not.
2.
BioNike is an affordable Italian face and body care range that's available
 exclusively at Dischem. I have reviewed several of their products and I was super impressed with their 15fruIT XSENSE Multi Sensorial Oil, that it even made it
onto my Top 3 Body Products List for 2017.
It's a brand that I've wanted to explore further and I've been kindly sent their
DEFENCE HYDRA5 OPTHYDRA Nourishing Moisturising Cream
 to put to the test.
3.
Dr Gobac is a South African Cosmeceutical skincare brand based mainly
 on botanical ingredients and I have to admit that I know very little about,
so I'll need to do some research on this brand whilst trying out their Cleanser.
BEAUTY PRODUCTS CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW {JULY 2018}
It's now the 11th July and not only is this post going up late, but this months
selection of "Currently Under Review" products will be short
and hopefully sweet.
 I have so many reviews to write and catch up on, that I'm giving
myself a break this next month, so there will only be three products
under review and they're all products that are a quick turn around in terms
of review time.
Next month should be back to normal...
1.
Dove DermaSpa Summer Revived Body Lotion with Self Tanners
will be put to the test this month to hopefully give me a natural looking bronze glow.
I picked up the one for Fair to Medium skin...
2.
I have looked at this L'Oréal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Low Shampoo
 Gentle Cleansing Cream for sometime now and I think it's
actually been in my basket once and then out again.
My hesitation re this type of product is that in the past I always feel
that my hair isn't always so clean after use, but I'm not sure if it's a mental block
that I have with the low foam and no sulphates concept,
 but I'm going to give this product a try and see if things have improved both
with low shampoo type products and in my mind...
*NOW POSTED*
3.
I was given these Hyalauronic eye masks, from the salon brand
 BT - Bio Therapeutic
sometime ago and I think it's time I put them to work.
Loaded with Hyaluronic Acid I'm excited to try these
Let me know if you have tried any of the above, as I'd love to hear your feedback.
NIP+FAB GLYCOLIC FIX DAILY CLEANSING PADS {REVIEW}
NIP+FAB Glycolic Fix Cleansing Pads have never been on my radar for a purchase
and happened somewhat by accident.
My London "Kiddiewink" was unable to buy the requested Pixi Glow Peel Pads
and as a 2nd best he bought me a similar product from NIP+FAB, but was it
 a 2nd best choice?
I have used the much loved Pixi Glow Tonic for the past couple of years
and the thought of a convenient pad format appealed to me,so he did
show good judgement with this replacement buy.
To find out why I love the Pixi Glow Tonic so much read my review below.
Having never used any products from this brand previously I'm very
 aware of their cult Glycolic Acid product ranges and I was excited to put
these glycolic pads to the test.
As always here is a quick background to the NIP+FAB brand, which is part
of the world renowned beauty brand Rodial :
London-based beauty entrepreneur, Maria Hatzistefanis, founded her
ground-breaking skincare group, Rodial, in 1999 by identifying a niche
for treatments targeted to specific skin concerns.
With a growing global beauty empire, her results-oriented products
excite with evocative tongue-in-cheek names such as Dragon’s Blood and Snake.
There are 3 brands – Rodial, Nip + Fab and Nip + Man – sold through
20,000 doors across 35 countries worldwide.
Today, the cutting-edge products are available in the most prestigious stores
around the world, while high profile celebrities such as
Kylie Jenner front the brands’ campaigns.
The Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing pads are gentle enough to be used,
as the products' name suggests dailyover the face and neck (avoid the eye area)
once or twice, post cleanse.
The pads are ample in size and are suitably soaked with the product and I found
that the screw top jar sealed well and they didn't dry out with time, as some
pad products can do.
If you use twice a day, like I did, the 60 pads will only last 30 days,
which does work out to be more expensive than the
250ml Pixi Glow Tonic at £18.
The 60 radiance-boosting pads are soaked in exfoliating glycolic acid (2.8%)
They will retexture + resurface skin whilst witch hazel helps to tone.
The moisturising formula includes hyaluronic acid + soothing blue daisy helps
to reveal brighter + smoother looking skin.
My skin is accustomed to the 5% strength of the Pixi Glow Tonic,
so I found the 2.8% strength of the pads too mild.
These NIP+FAB 2.8% of Glycolic Acid pads are an ideal strength to introduce your
 skin to Glycolic Acids.
Both I and my skin have enjoyed using these cleansing pads and I have already
 earmarked a couple more of the NIP+FAB products to try.
On a side note, it has made me realise that
I want to try the Pixi Glow Peel Pads even more now...
Sadly the NIP+FAB range is no longer available in South Africa,
which is a pity as it was available in Clicks up until a couple of years ago.
