JULIETTE HAS A GUN - IN THE MOOD FOR OUD {FRAGRANCE REVIEW}

Valentines Day
 is just on the horizon, so I thought I would bring you a fragrance review.

I know this isn't your mainstream fragrance name or fragrance brand for that matter...

Juliette Has a gun Parfums
was the creation of Romano Ricci the great grandson of fashion designer Nina Ricci
and grandson of perfumer Robert Ricci
who happened to be the creator of the iconic L'Air du temps fragrance.
With his 4 year apprenticeship in all things perfume behind him he launched
his brand back in 2006 and the creative Romano runs the brand himself
personally creating and designing fragrances and products.

"Dedicated to woman who are willing to experience a new type of niche elegant
fragrances. Metaphor for the perfume, weapon of seduction or simply an accessory
of bluff, the "Gun" symbolises the liberation of women towards men, sometimes with
 an aftertaste of revenge"

Having spent most of my working career in the beauty industry,
fragrance formed a huge part of that career and I enjoyed every minute.
However today I personally look for slightly more niche fragrances to
buy or review and Juliette Has a gun is right up my perfume street.
Juliette Has a gun offers two collections;
 the Luxury Collection comprises of 6 offerings, whilst their Classic Collection
offers a further 17 fragrance variants so there is a fragrance to suit everyone.

In the Mood for Oud forms part of the Luxury Collection and is the most recent
 addition having only been launched in 2019.
Classified as an Oriental Citrus this unisex fragrance contains the
the following notes;

Top Notes:
Bergamot

Heart Notes:
Oud Wood
Papyrus Essence
Saffron
Raspberry Essence

Base Notes:
Tonka Bean
Vanilla

Personally I gravitate towards all things citrusy in a fragrance and this having a
top note of refreshing Bergamot, made it an immediate like for me, but as we know the top note moves fairly quickly through to the heart or middle phase of the fragrance and this is where things moved up a notch for me.

The inclusion of Oud, which is an expensive and rare ingredient in the perfume industry,
completely transformed this fragrance from something fresh to something
warm, sensual and simply magnetic.

Vanilla is another of my favourite perfume ingredients and combined with
Tonka Bean it makes a powerful combination, often used in the bottom or base
notes of a fragrance to ensure the sensual and warm aroma lasts on the skin.

I was somewhat confused by this complex fragrance, as it took me on an
olfactory roller coaster of a ride, but I absolutely loved it and this is why I'm enjoying
the more bespoke and niche fragrance brands, as you never know what to expect
due to the conventional fragrance boundaries being pushed to their olfactory
limits.
However they do generally come with rather a hefty price tag and Juliette Has a gun
is no exception.

In The Mood for Oud will not be for everyone but if you enjoy a warm, sensual
oriental type of fragrance with a splash of citrus sparkle then this long-lasting
 statement fragrance is certainly one to consider.

Fragrance is such a personal choice and I always advise before purchasing to test
the fragrance on yourself and allow the fragrance to warm and develop through the different phases on the skin.

Despite having never heard of this Luxury perfume brand before I wasn't sure what to expect and after some research I'm actually quite intrigued by what else
Juliette Has a gun has to offer.
