This Resurfacing Mask has always been used a part of the 

TATA HARPER

facials that I have had, and love, so it was good to experience it

at home in a sample form.

The sample sachet allowed for a thick layer to be applied all over the 

face and neck in one application.

For immediate glow, apply a thick layer of the Resurfacing Mask

 on a clean face and neck 

(avoid the eye area)

Can be used by on all skin types except exceptional sensitive skins.

Leave the mask on for 20-30 minutes 

(10 minutes is recommended for sensitive skin). 

Rinse thoroughly with warm water. 

Can be used up to 3 times per week.

Also as a spot treatment, apply a small dab on blemish and leave overnight;

 reapply as necessary.

Free of toxins, fillers, artificials, synthetics, and GMOs. 

This product is vegan, cruelty-free.

This amber pink slight rose scented gel mask is easy peasy

to apply and after 10 mins expect the mask to feel dry and slightly

tight on the face and neck, which is a sensation that I like to feel

on my skin.

I left mine on for 30 minutes and then removed and the radiant

glow was noticeable and whilst my skin felt comfortable and

soft I cannot say it felt any smoother, however I deep exfoliate weekly,

so I do stay on top of any rough texture caused by those nuisance

dead cells.

As for refining my pores I don't have an issue at my age, so I 

 cannot comment, but for me the GLOW alone was good

enough for me...

AVÈNE DERMABSOLU RECONTOURING MASK {REVIEW}

For the past few weeks I have been pampering my skin with a new

product from AVÈNE that forms part of the DermaAbsolu range,

which is skin care designed for mature, sensitive skin, providing density,

 vitality and comfort thanks to the efficacy of a unique combination of 

patented active ingredients.

claims to visibly hydrate, firm, tone and illuminate the skin,

 whilst protecting against collagen depletion and intensely nourishing 

the skin.

 Key ingredients such as niacinamide and provitamin C brightens,

 smooths, and evens out skin texture softening the signs of ageing.

 SytenolTM is a natural alternative to retinol that helps

 protect against collagen depletion, and Glycoleol as an essential skin lipid 

precursor that intensely nourishes and mimics the skin. 

Apply 1-3 times per week over the face and neck and leave for 10 mins

and then remove the excess or you can apply as a sleep mask,

which I have done on a couple of occasions and my skin felt wonderful.

Even after just 10 minutes my skin looked luminous, felt nourished, 

soothed and as they claim, intensely moisturised for up to 8 hours.

This transformative anti-ageing cocooning mask

is luxurious and provides results you can see and feel 

after just 10 minutes, which makes it perfect for a quick skin

pick-me up if beauty "time is of the essence".

With a gel-cream texture that is suitable for all skin types and the 

product melts into the skin.

I was rather surprised at how fragranced this product is and despite it

having a pleasant fragrance of jasmine, rose, and violet, I would go as far

 to say that this is the most perfumed Avène product that I have reviewed

and I have reviewed many.

My skin has been absolutely loving this mask, so much so it's

making me want to try some of the other DermAbsolu products

 and this mask is one, for starters, that I 

highly recommend for those drier mature skins.

ORIGINS DRINK UP INTENSIVE OVERNIGHT HYDRATING FACE MASK {REVIEW}

Finally the US brand ORIGINS arrived in South Africa during 2022 

and having tried only one of their products, which I bought overseas, 

it's a brand that I would like to experience more of, 

especially on the "masking" front as they have several and they

 all sound amazing.

My intro to the brand was via their

GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff

and whilst I was a little underwhelmed with the product initially,

I soon warmed to it and enjoyed the refreshing feeling it offered over tired

eyes or after a late night or a long haul flight.

Just as I didn't plan to buy the eye cream I also didn't plan on buying

this Intensive Face Mask, yet I was swayed by the availability of

a 30ml Travel size.

This ultra-moisturizing sleeping mask claims to instantly delivers 

72-hour hydration.

Infused with Glacier Water that helps to deliver all day moisture,

 Hyaluronic Acid that acts like a skin-plumping moisture “magnet,”

and Avocado Butter, which is deeply nourishing.

I was pleasantly surprised by this mask, I enjoyed the non oily

creamy gel consistency, the fresh 

fragrance, but most of all I absolutely loved the cooling sensation

on the skin and if you keep it in the fridge it's super refreshing and

calming on those hot days, like the ones,

 that we're currently experiencing here in South Africa.

This vegan mask can be used on all skin types and I think men

would love the formula.

Apply twice a week or as desired, gently massage onto clean skin at 

bedtime and let this nourishing, superfood-infused hydration do 

its thing and wake up with a dewy skin in the morning.

I have even used this as my daytime moisturiser on those "no make-up"

"keep it simple" stay at home days.

As for 72-hours of hydration I wouldn't want to put that to the test, 

but if you are searching for an easy overnight, no rinse, leave on mask

 that gives your skin a power shot drink of both 

nourishment and hydration then this is 

THE ONE

and if you are time poor, when it comes to masking, then this is 

DEFINITELY THE ONE

 This has now has found a spot in my every expanding 

"Masking Wardrobe".

SISLEY BLACK ROSE CREAM MASK {REVIEW}

Finally I got to try A Sisley skincare product, albeit only in a 

sample size, but it wasn't just any sample it was a sample of their iconic

 Black Rose Cream Mask I managed to get a couple of applications

out of the sachet, however one application was enough for me to

experience the all the skin hype that has surrounded this super

luxe skincare face mask...

ingredients derived from plants for different skin types and different uses:

 moisturizing, anti-aging, sun care

forms part of the Black Rose Skincare Collection thats been

formulated to offer luxurious textures and be super effective in

 offering the skin "instant youth" and who doesn't want that?

Rich in active anti-ageing ingredients:

These key ingredients immediately get to work on signs of fatigue

 and leaves the skin looking youthful and energized.

It brings together three actions to restore a luminous complexion 

and redensified skin in just 10 to 15 minutes:

- a revitalising action,

- a softening and hydrating action.

Suitable for all skin types.

Apply 2 or 3 times a week in a thick layer on the face and neck, 

carefully avoiding the area around the eye. 

Allow to remain on the skin for 10 to 15 minutes, 

then wipe away the excess.

This deliciously scented with rose, soft, creamy textured mask creates

 a moment of relaxation and pleasure that felt wonderful on my skin.

Immediately hydrated and plumped, my skin also felt smoother, incredibly

soft, less fatigued and more radiant.

Of all the products to try 1st from Sisley, this was the ONE and it certainly

 didn't disappoint in any way...

SKOON. RUBY MARINE OVERNIGHT HYDRATING FACE MASK {REVIEW}

I'm rather late with posting my review on this face mask from

the South African skincare brand SKOON.

SKOON.

Kind. 

Clean. 

Scientific. 

The SKOON. brand is all about having your cake 

and eating it! 

They are committed to the best nature has to offer. 

They believe in science. 

Most of all they give you “clean” beauty for a healthy skin.

And they think skincare should be a ridiculously good-feeling ritual – 

so they say yes to natural scent!

 I have high hopes for this

RUBY OVERNIGHT Hydrating Face Mask

The aim of this face mask is to ultimately give a moisture top up for 

all skin types and boost overnight hydration.

Its formulation promises to both soothe and hydrate your skin whilst

 you sleep. 

It protects against winter dry skin and improves skin barrier,

especially for dull, sensitive skins.

 This dream combo of super-soothing, moisture boosting hyaluronic acid 

in a velvet base of Vanilla, African Shea, Wildflower Honey

 and Marula Oil will work during the night.

Infused with Wakame Extract and Hyaluronic Acid to entrap water molecules

 on the surface of the skin.

Smooth a generous layer of overnight hydrating mask onto clean or 

moisturised skin. 

Alternatively, blend a small scoop of mask with a dollop of moisturiser 

in the palm of your hand and smooth over face and neck.

N.B.

In summer the texture of RUBY MARINE may slightly soften and be slightly

 harden in colder temperatures.

Like no other mask that I have ever felt or applied, it is different and not

the "norm" in masking terms.

This thick pink buttery mask had a divine vanilla fragrance and was easy

to apply.

I found this mask to sit on the skin and create a barrier rather than 

being absorbed into my skin, so therefore it felt quite greasy, which I 

didn't really mind, as it was an overnight product,

 but I could imagine more oily/combination skins may not enjoy.

This could also double-up as the perfect defense balm to protect skin 

against extreme cold or drying out during sport.

This mask comes in 2 sizes and I opted for the smaller 15ml size

 and was surprised at how many applications this little pot gave,

so I would recommend that you try this size first.

The next morning my skin certainly felt softer and overall this mask

has found a place in my "Masking" wardrobe of products.

I recently received my 1st SKOON product, a full size 

OH SHERBET! Exfoliating Mask and Mask Brush 

in a beauty box and whilst it wouldn't have been a product I would have 

purchased I was glad to receive and put it to the test, as I had heard such

 good things about this mask.

The Azelaic Acid + Probiotic Clay Mask helps clears pores and exfoliate 

dull skin.

OH SHERBET! Azelaic acid 10% exfoliating clay mask can be used 

daily for breakouts. 

Gentle Cape clay is super absorbent and will further help to mop up excess 

oil and dry out bumps and blemishes. 

Other ingredients include:

Kaolin

Azalaic Acid

Glycerine

Lactobacillus

Lemon Peel Oil

Lavender & Geranium Flower Oil

Although OH SHERBET! is a wash-off mask you can also spot treat 

individual breakouts with dabs of clay mask and leave it on overnight.

 ◦ Gentle exfoliation - no harsh abrasions

 ◦ Mops up excess oil

 ◦ Reduces breakouts

 ◦ Anti-redness

Unfortunately I cannot comment on how well it deals with excess oil or 

reducing breakouts, as at my age I don't suffer from these issues, so

I'm really reviewing the exfoliating & brightening aspect of this product.

This mask can be used either AM or PM by adding a small amount of

the blush tinged Sherbet clay powder into a small bowl, add a few drops 

of water in order to create the active paste, which is then painted onto

a clean skin with the mask brush. (avoid the eye area)

The mask will change colour from the blush shade to a solid white

and as expected from a clay mask it will harden on the face. 

It's left on the skin for 5-8 minutes before rinsing off with water.

Do expect some tingling.

I personally use this mask once every couple of weeks.

I thoroughly enjoyed the more traditional process of mixing

the mask and applying with a brush, as this was how masks were

created and applied during my beauty training back in the late 70's.

Not everyone will enjoy that "tight" feel of the mask, as it dries

and hardens, which is typical of a clay mask, but I certainly did.

It was easy to both apply and remove and had a pleasant 

delicate rose fragrance.

I found the mask to be quite stimulating on my non sensitive skin

and it certainly increases the circulation, which wasn't an issue for me,

but maybe it would be for more sensitive skins.

As expected it refined, smoothed and brightened my skin and followed

 with any of my usual post exfoliation face masks, my skin always felt good.

I can only imagine how well this mask would work on an

oily and congested skin and as a specific overnight spot remedy.  

Despite this mask not being 100% for my skin type I've grown

to love a little mask mixing and applying

with a brush, as it seems to add something extra to my 

more leisurely pamper sessions and I highly recommend.

If I were to mention ingredients that are sourced from 

White Mushrooms, Arnica Montana Flower and Bakers Yeast, 

you may think that I was about to share with you a food recipe, 

but you're mistaken, as these are the three KEY components of a new mask

 that was launched earlier this month by the Skincare brand REN

EVERCALM ULTRA COMFORTING 

RESCUE MASK 

This also just happens to be the first product from this brand

 that I have ever tried.

This new mask from their extensive EVERCALM range has been formulated

 with the REN exclusive complex of ingredients and as the name

 suggests its focus is to instantly and forever calm, soothe, moisturise

 and alleviate the key signs of a sensitive skin.

White Mushroom Extract:

 A naturally derived painkiller for skin and contains elements that act as a 

topical analgesics to effectively block the message of pain.

Arnica: 

Reduces redness, inflammation, burning and itching.

Beta-Glucan:

(Bakers Yeast) Supports skin’s natural immune and barrier functions and

is also a potent anti-bacterial and antihistamine.

I personally don't have a sensitive or over-reactive skin, but that doesn't 

mean that there haven't been times where my skin has reacted

to the sun or a stimulating product and as I've always said here on my

 blog that any skin type can use products 

formulated for a sensitive or allergic prone skin quite happily

 and I have several in my daily beauty regime that I just adore.

Let's just touch on what a sensitive skin is all about, as it can be highly reactive 

to physical, environmental and lifestyle factors.

 This could be seen and felt on the skin as redness, irritation, itchiness or dryness to mention just a few the symptoms.

Often these can be experienced on a daily and more permanent basis, 

whilst others experience these symptoms only occasionally.

I'm sure most of us have experienced skin sensitivity at some stage and I know

 that on those occasions, we look for a product to bring comfort and 

relief to the skin.

The REN Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask helps treat the cause of 

skin sensitivity, not just the symptoms, as it goes one step further to 

block the message of irritation to the brain, therefore preventing the

 symptoms that we see and experience as sensitive skin!

 easy to dispense an accurate amount of product (both of which I like)

The texture of the mask was surprisingly thick, yet creamy and somewhat 

heavier in comparison to other masks I've tried for sensitive and fragile skins.

Along with its clean fresh fragrance and its obvious "I've got a mask on" feel it reminded me of the "old style" non drying moisturising face masks

 and I have to admit it was a refreshing change to use.

It gives your skin that sensation of being bathed in soothing, calming comfort

 and I would imagine it would be an absolute blanket of relief to a 

stressed sensitive skin.

It left my skin feeling soft, whilst giving my skin a noticeable, more even tone.

This 10-minute rescue mask is a "best friend" for skin that is red, blotchy, 

irritated, sunburned, wind-chapped, dry, stressed, or jet-lagged.

I'm off on a beach holiday next month and this mask will definitely 

be coming along with. 

This mask doesn't come cheap, but for a truly reactive and sensitive skin this

 will be a small price to pay for the comfort, relief and ongoing strengthening 

that this mask will bring...
