AVÈNE DERMABSOLU RECONTOURING MASK {REVIEW}

For the past few weeks I have been pampering my skin with a new

product from AVÈNE that forms part of the DermaAbsolu range,

which is skin care designed for mature, sensitive skin, providing density,

 vitality and comfort thanks to the efficacy of a unique combination of 

patented active ingredients.

The range currently in South Africa consists of the following:

and now the

DermAbsolu Recontouring Mask

DermAbsolu Recontouring Mask 

claims to visibly hydrate, firm, tone and illuminate the skin,

 whilst protecting against collagen depletion and intensely nourishing 

the skin.

 Key ingredients such as niacinamide and provitamin C brightens,

 smooths, and evens out skin texture softening the signs of ageing.

 SytenolTM is a natural alternative to retinol that helps

 protect against collagen depletion, and Glycoleol as an essential skin lipid 

precursor that intensely nourishes and mimics the skin. 

Apply 1-3 times per week over the face and neck and leave for 10 mins

and then remove the excess or you can apply as a sleep mask,

which I have done on a couple of occasions and my skin felt wonderful.

Even after just 10 minutes my skin looked luminous, felt nourished, 

soothed and as they claim, intensely moisturised for up to 8 hours.

This transformative anti-ageing cocooning mask

is luxurious and provides results you can see and feel 

after just 10 minutes, which makes it perfect for a quick skin

pick-me up if beauty "time is of the essence".

With a gel-cream texture that is suitable for all skin types and the 

product melts into the skin.

I was rather surprised at how fragranced this product is and despite it

having a pleasant fragrance of jasmine, rose, and violet, I would go as far

 to say that this is the most perfumed Avène product that I have reviewed

and I have reviewed many.

My skin has been absolutely loving this mask, so much so it's

making me want to try some of the other DermAbsolu products

 and this mask is one, for starters, that I 

highly recommend for those drier mature skins.

AVÈNE GENTLE EXFOLIATING GEL {REVIEW}

I have been wanting to try this exfoliating gel from Avène 

for some time now, so I was pleased to receive it as part of a

recent PR drop.

Having lost track of how many exfoliating/scrubs for the face I 

have tried & reviewed over the years, I am hoping this offering from

 one of my favourite French skincare brands doesn't disappoint,

if it did, it would be the first product that would do so.

GENTLE EXFOLIATING GEL

You can expect this exfoliator to

calm and purify your skin to reveal a brighter, smoother complexion.

This one is suitable for all sensitive skin types and of course

non-sensitives like me...

The peeling effect is achieved with the inclusion of cellulose microbeads

 and jojoba wax gently eliminate dead skin cells.

 3% Niacinamide + 0.5% sodium salicylate aid the mechanical

 exfoliating action of the microbeads leaving the skin texture more 

refined and more radiant.

(It's an eco-friendly biodegradable formula)

Can be used twice a week, apply to a slightly damp skin,

massage and then rinse off.

In my opinion the inclusion of an exfoliating/scrub is a vital step in your

weekly skincare routine and a step that I have have religiously 

included since I was in my very early 20's.

I've enjoyed using this rich gel product and despite it being gentle, the

pink microbeads are abundant and noticeable, which I love.

It was way more effective than I expected it to be, as it left my 

skin feeling incredibly smooth.

If you don't use one, then do your skin a huge favour, as it will instantly

 elevate your beauty regime and your skin will not only feel 

smoother & softer, it will look brighter and render all of your skincare

 products more effective.

This one from Avène would make a perfect introduction to the

world of exfoliation.

As you may know I'm a huge fan of the French skincare brand 

Avène

and it's brand that I have written many reviews on, so if you

For sensitive, compromised and delicate skins Avène would always be

 my first recommendation.

Avène Cicalfate+ Purifying Cleansing Gel 

is a new line extension to the Cicalfate+ range and is a gentle,

 non-drying foaming cleanser that offers a purifying and soothing experience. 

Suitable for sensitive, compromised, or fragile skins.

It offers excellent skin tolerance and can be used on the face, body, 

intimate areas and scalp. 

Its suitable for the whole family including infants, and works well with

the Avène Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream.

Key ingredients include C+-Restore™ 

a patented postbiotic active ingredient derived from 

Avène Thermal Spring Water, which promotes epidermal strengthening.

 Rich in signature Avène Thermal Spring Water, known for its

 tattoos, superficial dermatological procedures, umbilical cord care

 and the list goes on.

This product is also recommended for people undergoing

 anti-cancer treatment or post-treatment and can gently cleanse the skin

after superficial dermatological procedures.

It's gentle and soothing on the skin and non drying,

one of those "must have" products in your family bathroom.

As a huge fan of exfoliators for both the body and the face,

this Gentle Exfoliating Gel for the face sounds a perfect product

for those times when your skin is needing a mini break from

the more active alternatives or if you skin is sensitive.

Even compromised and sensitive skins benefit from a gentle exfoliation

yet it all depends on finding the one right one for your skin and that

can sometimes prove difficult, but of all the brands

Avène would be one I would trust more than many others, so I'm

looking forward to putting this to the test this coming week...

In my younger years I always set my make-up with a loose

face powder, however for the past 15 years or so face powder was

dropped from my make-up routine and to be honest I haven't

missed it.

That being said, if I were going to re-introduce one it would

be this one from BY TERRY.

This full size product was part of one of the COSMETIPS Beauty Edit,

so I'm excited to try it out and report back to you with my views.

This is a new launch from AVÈNE and I do love a face mask and

the DERMABSLU is a collection of anti-aging products aimed at the

 more mature of us. 

It promises to give the skin an immediate fresh and tightening effect,

so it's another product that I'm enthusiastic to review and

report back to you about.

I have reviewed several REN products over the years, as I was on

their PR list, but sadly I've not been for a couple of years now,

and to be honest I have had other brands and products that

have either been gifted or I have bought myself that have 

intrigued me more.

However this full size product was included in one of

my COSMETIPS Influencer beauty edits.

I was a huge fan of their Perfect Canvas Serum, so I'm

curious to see how I enjoy this cleanser.

I must be the biggest fan of RITUALS products here in South Africa

 and it's a real pity that we don't have the brand, as I

believe it would do very well here.

I do know that many of my South African readers travel overseas

 and in fact many of you follow from countries where RITUALS is

easily available and you also share my love for all things 

RITUALS.

My favourite ritual is the RITUAL OF AYURVEDA and since I

rate their Smoothing Hand Cream I wanted to try their

Recovery Hand Balm.

This will be my first SHISEIDO skincare product that I am trying

 and it's a brand that I know very little about, so this

means some research along with putting this multi-use spot treatment

 to visibly improve

 deep wrinkles & dark spots in just 4 weeks.* to the test.

I do love reviewing any AVÈNE product as they very rarely

disappoint and it's my safe, gentle and calming "go to" for skincare.

This cleansing gel was recently launched and I'm intrigued, its been 

formulated to cleanse the 

Face,Hands,Body and external intimate areas.

AVÈNE SPF 50+ INTENSE PROTECT #TBT REVIEW

I am currently reviewing the 

Avène SPF50+ Fragrance-Free Fluid sun protection for the face

and for the body my "go to" is still the 

Avène SPF50+ Intense Protect.

As we are currently experiencing a heatwave in South Africa, I thought it 

would be the perfect time to re-post my review.

Since the beginning of summer my go to sun protection has been their

newly launched

Avène SPF50+ Intense Protect

It's an innovative lightweight fluid offering very high UV protection 

with ultra water resistance.

It's a Broad Spectrum High Protection, making the 

Intense Protect 50+ it suitable for all skin types, 

including the most sun-sensitive skin:

babies as of 6 months, children, pregnant women, very light phototypes

 that lack natural melanin, damaged skin, post-tattoo or skin suffering

 from the effects of cancer treatments.

Intense Protect 50+ is also suitable for all types of exposure and also

 the most extreme and demanding conditions for sun protection: 

high altitudes, high seas, dry climates, humid

tropical heat, and nautical sports.

It can be used on both the face and the body, however I have used it mainly

on my body, as I had sun protection for my face that I had to finish.

This SPF has served me very well during the past few, 

hot and humid months.

It offers super fast absorption, feels dry to the touch and has a

 transparent finish and it also

provides good hydration (8hrs they claim) and more importantly leaves

 no white marks.

So if you are looking for intense high protection or an everyday SPF 

for the whole family, then this is certainly one to consider.

Here we are in the last month of 2022 and I have 3 skincare

 products to review...

SPF 50+ FLUID

It's that time of the year for those in the Southern Hemisphere to 

bring out the high SPF's.

Avène Sun products has been one of my go to's for several years and 

here's a new edition and it's a very high sun protection SPF50+ Fluid 

without fragrance.

As always with this type of product my review will only be posted in

the new year once I have fully tested.

ESTHEDERM

I have previously reviewed a couple of products from the French brand

ESTHEDERM to read reviews

However I have been wanting to try this mist for so long, as

this is no ordinary facial mist, as its a moisturising anti-oxidant

and I'm excited to introduce it into my daily skincare.

This product was certainly not on my beauty radar, that was

until I had a Dermalogica facial recently, where I was introduced to

the wonders of this Primer with an SPF 30.

My idea for this product is to use it over my moisturiser on those

no make-up days during summer.

AVÈNE XERACALM A.D LIPID-REPLENISHING BALM {REVIEW}

Some weeks ago I developed a rather itchy skin, it wasn't

all over my body, it was just prevalent on my shins and forearms.

Having a sensitive and itchy skin was very unusual for me, so

I decided to check out the Avène website, as they're the leaders when

it comes to treating sensitive and compromised skins and after using

 many of their products, I certainly can trust them...

Their experts say that several conditions can cause the skin to be prone

 to varying degrees of itching: contact eczema, lichen planus, urticaria, 

dryness in mature skin, etc.
Itching is also caused by atopic dermatitis, a common form of dermatosis

 that affects children and adults, triggering uncomfortable, 

incapacitating sensations of itching.

I had ruled out the obvious irritants like soap powders/fabric softeners

shower gels, soaps, fake tans etc and decided that mine fell under

"dryness due to my mature skin" category and I needed a product to

replenish my Hydro Lipidic Layer or protective barrier in order to

alleviate the itchiness.

If it had been an issue on my face I would have had several Avène

options to apply, but for my body I had none.

After a little research I opted for the 

AVÈNE

XERACALM A.D LIPID-REPLENISHING BALM 

The XERACALM range (consists of 4 products) is specifically formulated

 to nourish and restore very dry, itchy, atopic/eczema-prone skin. 

This would be my first line of defence and depending on

how my skin responded would determine my next step.

XeraCalm A.D. Lipid-Replenishing balm deeply nourishes,

soothes and calms very dry skin prone to itching sensations. 

This rich texture helps maintain skin's natural microbiome for a 

healthy skin environment. 

A patented 100% sterile nourishing balm formulated to replenish 

the skin's protective barrier and relieve itching associated with 

atopic/eczema-prone skin. 

After 12 years of research the formulation is proven to

reduce the itching sensations, soothes discomfort due to skin

 hyper-reactivity and allows skin to protect itself once again.

 It has an airless pump, exclusive sterile technology, that keeps the 

cream safe throughout use without the need for any preservatives.

Suitable for people who may be prone to eczema formulated with a 

minimal number of ingredients to minimise risks of allergy. 

Free from fragrance and soap and suitable for infants,

 children and adults.

Luckily after applying twice daily (initially) and then once a day,

this non greasy balm both nourished and soothed my skin and more

 importantly over a period of several weeks, the affected areas soon

 settled and the intense itching thankfully ceased.

The airless pump makes for easy, hygienic and controlled application.

So this product is certainly a keeper for me and one that I cannot 

recommend highly enough, if like me suffer from mature dry skin

 or any of your family suffer from dry itchy skin.
