LIVING PROOF PERFECT HAIR DAY DRY SHAMPOO #TBT POST

Earlier this week I reviewed a dry shampoo from the local South African
brand Sorbet click here and for me it was the worst that I've tried and it made me think about my absolute favourite dry shampoo the
Living proof Perfect hair Day dry shampoo
so I thought I would re post it today, as my #TBT post.
Once you try a disappointing product it make you really appreciate the good ones
and this one is a good one...

I originally posted back in October 2019.

*Prices may have changed since the original posting*

Earlier in the year I was introduced to Living Proof hair products via the
Marks & Spencer Beauty Advent Calendar 2018, which contained a generous size of their
Restore Treatment Mask.
I thoroughly enjoyed the mask and if you would like more info on this US brand
and the mask then check out my review

Following some research I came across their multi award winning
Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo
and whilst not being a big user of Dry Shampoo I'm never without one in my cupboard,
for those emergencies where washing hair just isn't an option.

My previous fave and has been for many years has been the Klorane Dry Shampoo,
but its becoming more and more difficult to source, so I was happy to purchase
the Living Proof and give it a try.
I initially bought the travel size, whilst overseas, I used it once and on the strength
of how much I liked it I quickly purchased the large size, so I'm currently sitting
with two cans of Living Proof Dry Shampoo and I ain't complaining.

Powered by our Triple-Action Cleaning Technology to address how hair looks, feels and smells. Fast-absorbing powders soak up oil and sweat while our patented Healthy Hair Molecule (OFPMA) helps you remove the powders easily from hair, resulting in actually clean hair. Odour neutralisers and time released fragrance keep hair smelling clean.

I was ecstatic that there was no powder or white residue left behind and my hair
not only smelt fresh, but it was for me - acceptably clean and many
dry shampoos are not able to give your hair that clean feeling.
I am now happy, as I have found a new Dry Shampoo.

Its also:
Paraben-free
Phthalate-free
Silicone-free
PETA Certified Cruelty-free
Safe to use on chemically treated hair
&
Colour Safe

It's not the most affordable on the market, but considering how often I
use a dry shampoo I don't mind the spend for that "truly bad hair day"
or should I say "truly oily hair day"
fix.

I have inserted this helpful video to show exactly how to use this dry shampoo
and in fact any dry shampoo for that matter.

SORBET CHIC AND QUICK DRY SHAMPOO {REVIEW}

During lockdown I have resorted to using a Dry Shampoo more often than usual,
as I've been leaving my hair longer in between shampoos.
When it comes to a Dry Shampoo I naturally gravitate towards the more expensive
brands, as I've found through experience that they do perform better.
to read my previous reviews on Dry Shampoos

I was however wanting to find a local and more affordable brand for those
 "stay at home days".
Recently on a mad dash to Clicks for a repeat script I quickly looked along the
Dry Shampoo shelf and came across the
Sorbet Chic and Quick Dry Shampoo
on reading the can it appeared to fit the hair bill perfectly.

Sorbet Drybar Clean & Classic Dry Shampoo 200ml has a starch-based formula that absorbs excess oil and odours, freshening hair up quickly. Great for touch-ups when you’re short on time but need to look your best.
Does not contain parabens.
Directions for use: shake vigorously before use. Hold nozzle about 30 cm away from hair and lightly spray dry shampoo on dry hair focusing on the roots to absorb the oil.Brush through from root to tip, or massage through with fingertips.
Sadly for me it didn't fit the hair bill and whilst it smells lovely and fruity fresh,
it's also full of fumes and gases, more so than any other dry shampoo that I have used, which
I personally found quite overwhelming and unpleasant.
I found it difficult to remove on my darker roots, as it left that telltale
dulling grey cast over my hair leaving it looking lifeless and quite simply
worse than before I used it and
it just didn't do it for me.

In the above Pink Link you will see both drugstore and high end Dry Shampoo
reviews and I think I will be going back to the Colab Dry Shampoo for my
 "Lockdown Hair" going forward.

BATISTE DRY SHAMPOO VS COLAB DRY SHAMPOO {TBT APRIL 2020}

There is no doubt that Dry Shampoos have an important place in many
"hair lives" and they have improved greatly over the years.
In South Africa the selection on offer is also far greater than when I originally wrote
this post back in February 2016 and since then I have also found a "New" favourite.

I recently discovered the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo, which is now permanently
on my overseas shopping list, as you can't buy Living Proof in South Africa.
Between the more affordable dry shampoos available my review below on batiste and COLAB remain the same.

*Please note that prices quoted below may have changed*

Dry Shampoos are a quick and convenient way of getting soft, clean and fresh smelling hair, without water and whilst I don't regularly use one, I always have one on hand to help rescue me and my hair, on that day where, I just knew, I should have made the time to wash it.

When sprayed directly onto hair the waterless formulation penetrates and absorbs dirt and any other cosmetic product. A gentle rub of the scalp and brush of the hair removes impurities to leave hair soft, clean, fresh and revitalized. Great to use in between washes or after gym.
The Dry Shampoo really evolved as many, many years ago women used talcum powder on their scalp and hair to absorb excess oil and grease.Thankfully we now have a Dry Shampoo in a can!

Klorane Dry Shampoo

My dry shampoo of choice has always been one from the French Botanical hair care brand - Klorane (150ml approx €9), but unfortunately for several years now it's not been available here in South Africa meaning that it was always a permanent item on my overseas holiday shopping list. Obviously I must have been having more "hair rescue" days this past 10 months than I realised, as I have now been forced to look into a locally available dry shampoo.
Not having a great selection to choose from it was pretty much down to two brands in my local Clicks, batiste and the recently launched (in SA) COLAB, so I thought I would review and compare them both and bring you my findings.

COLAB Dry Shampoo & batiste Dry Shampoo

batiste:
Available sizes : 50ml / 200ml
Price Range : R39.95 - R79.95
Batiste have several options to chose from, which include fragranced, volume and hints of colour dry shampoos, I opted for the Blush -A Floral and Flirty fragrance, only because the Classic and Clean was out of stock, personally I prefer to opt for a subtle or non-fragranced version.
My Opinion :
Initially I was shocked with the force of the dry shampoo spray, it really blasts powder onto the hair and scalp. I also found it to be very white and powdery even on my blonde hair, so it must be a nightmare on dark hair. Whilst it absorbed any oil, I found it to be marginally one step up from sprinkling a fine talcum powder onto my hair and doing it the "old fashioned" way.

COLAB :
Available sizes : 50ml / 200ml
Price Range : R49.95 - R89.95
COLAB have two collections on offer, the Sheer + Invisible (sheer, invisible and weightless formula) and the Extreme Collection (volume ,height and body). I bought the Sheer + Invisible LONDON - A classic yet contemporary fragrance of bergamot, musk & magnolia.
My Opinion :
Again the spray was quite forceful, but as COLAB say their formula is lightweight and invisible and it was. I enjoyed using even though I found its ability to adsorb any oil not to maybe be as good as the Batiste, after saying that I would without a doubt chose the more sophisticated "grown up" COLAB Dry Shampoo as opposed to the girly "teenage" Batiste Dry Shampoo.

Is the Klorane Dry Shampoo being struck off my overseas shopping list?
No not yet and it just means that on my next trip 2 cans will be bought!
