MY PICKS OF THE 2015 OSCAR GOWNS

I and millions of others around the world love the Academy Awards, which is now in its 87th year.
For whatever reason you love to tune in, you cannot help being drawn to the rich, famous and talented walking down the red carpet in all their finery.
Who wears "what" designer gown or carries "whose" bejewelled clutch, is what we all want to know and see and that's not all, throw in a few million dollars worth of diamonds and our attraction heightens. Even stilettos and nail art get a mention these days and before we know it, all these trends are circulated and copied around the world.
This years fashion did not disappoint and here are a few of my "faves" and as you can see I am drawn to the pastels and soft shades and pink (what else) feature in my choices.
Enjoy!

Jennifer Lopez in Ellie Saab has to be my top choice this year, absolutely stunning.

Jennifer Hudson looking fantastically simple, yet elegant in this yellow Romona Keveza.

Gwyneth Paltrow looking flawlessly beautiful in this Ralph & Russo soft, pink, figure hugging number and what a figure she has!

Chrissy Teigan (John Legends wife) looking leggy n sexy in her Zahair Murad.

Yanina Couture nude dress with a navy overlay looks stunning on Jamie Chung.

Guiliana Rancic looking truly glamourous in a detailed red Mireille Dagher gown,
 love this look on her.

ANNIKING HANDBAG A/W 2014 COLLECTION

Last week I was invited to go along to Bianca Warren's boutique situated
in "The Square" Umhlanga to view the first official South African
Handbag collection from AnniK I N G.
AnniK I N G is the brain child of Joanna Chen, who was petite and absolutely delightful and told me a little about her
Autumn/Winter 2014 collection – The Foreign Affair
This collection was inspired by her love for travel and the aspiration for discovering the unknown.
(Each bag by the way is named after a city in Belgium)

The collection to me is very reminiscent of my recent trip to Paris where a handbag is a very important accessory to the outfit or perhaps the outfit is an accessory to the handbag.
I tend to agree with the latter!
Having a slight fetish for a good quality leather handbag, I instantly connected with this collection of key pieces that are elegantly styled in suede and smooth cowhide leather
trés chic.

What I was pleasantly surprised at were the prices ranging from
R1599 to R1999.

The Chaleroi Grey Weekender bag R1999

Brussels purple bag R1699

Thank you to Bianca Warren and AnniK I N G for a lovely evening
and look forward to seeing the next collection.

P.S.I could be looking for an outfit to accompany that red Brussels bag, as I loved the perfect sizing (large) and the colour is so on trend, yet so classic.

VICTORIA BECKHAM COLLECTION 2014

You have to agree that the women behind the most famous pout in the world Victoria Beckham does create some wonderful leather bags and clothes for that matter.
So love her or hate her....
here are three of my of absolute "loves" from her new Spring Summer 2014 range.
Each bag is made from the finest and softest leathers whether it be Buffalo or calf leather.
Great attention to detail is taken into consideration with regard to the strap lengths, magnetic clasps and stitching, however this all comes at a price. Matching small pouches are made to partner the handbag and add the price of both items, together with our poor exchange rate (approximately R18 for £1) and we are looking in the region at a hefty price tag of R15,000 to R44,000.
This does not stop me from looking and longing....
Enjoy!

FASHIONABLE "WELLIE BOBS"

This is a perfect day to post this, as it's pouring down in Durbs!

For those that don't know "Wellie Bobs" is another name for Gum boots,Wellington boots, rain boots or just plain wellies and guess what..living in Durban I don't own or really
ever need to wear a pair.....

The conventional industrial green or black rubber footwear has taken on a new lease of life in recent years and the good old Wellington boot has become somewhat of a fashion accessory.
This now jazzy, multi-coloured boot is now worn by celebs and fashionistas around the world, as well as the likes of you and me...well perhaps not me!
Any item of clothing can be worn today with a pair of wellies as there is no fashion limit to its pairings.

Probably the most well know name around the world is the "Hunter" boot which hails from Scotland and they are available at selected outlets around South Africa, at a price.
Below is a selection of designs just showing how far the humble "wellie bob" has come.
You can also find cheaper, pretty and funky wellies from the major high street retailers.
I am actually feeling quite deprived now, that I have no use for a pair, as I want!
Maybe I could wear a pair, when watering the garden or cleaning the pool,
but they would have to be pink..of course!

Hunter and Tom Jones

Even designers like Marc Jacobs,Gucci
and Burberry are in on the scene

WHAT DO COLOURS SAY ABOUT YOU?

Have you got an important interview, meeting or just an event coming up, where you really want to make a good impression?
If so then read on, as choosing the colour of your outfit is just as important as the clothing you select.
Colour does subliminally say something to us and definitely arouses different emotional feelings.
Check the list below and next time you pull an outfit out of your wardrobe think about the appropriateness of the colour!

Enjoy!

BLACK is the colour of authority and power. It's a popular choice as it also makes us appear slimmer. It also is timeless and classic. Don't wear all black as this can appear unapproachable.

GREY is one of the most popular choices for an interview, as it can give the impression of sophistication and confidence. Also can be less distracting therefore the focus will be on what you say.

WHITE is light and a popular choice as it goes with everything. It also projects cleanliness, neutrality and simplicity.

RED is the most emotionally charged and aggressive colour. Red is the colour of love and passion and will certainly get you noticed. Red also can make the wearer appear heavier. Not recommended for that all important interview.

YELLOW is a bright, sunny, happy and an energizing colour. Its an attention getting colour and can be overpowering if too much is used. It's also the colour of concentration.

GREEN is the colour of nature and is the easiest on the eye. It's calming and
refreshing. Dark green signifies wealth and masculinity.

BLUE is the recommended colour to wear for an interview as it symbolizes loyalty and control. Tranquil and peaceful it produces calming chemicals in the body and is easy on the eye.

PURPLE is the colour of royalty, luxury, sophistication wealth. Perhaps not ideal for an interview as it is also viewed as being feminine and romantic.

BROWN is solid and reliable colour and abundant in nature.Light brown suggest genuineness whilst dark brown implies reliability and a good communicator.

WOOLWORTHS WINTER WOOLIES

For those that aren't aware, I live in the "Fun in the Sun" city of Durban...well a few kilometers north actually, in the coastal town of Umhlanga Rocks. The year round climate is the best that South Africa has to offer and with winter monthly temperatures of between 11c-25c I am very spoilt, as I never experience cold winters!

So why am I writing a post about jerseys and jumpers from mine, and most people's favourite retailer Woolworths? Surely you need cold weather to wear a jersey? These are all the questions that I should have asked myself, when I went to their Gateway branch yesterday....but instead, I was fully engrossed in looking and trying on, their newly arrived winter ranges, the majority of which I wanted, so well done to Woolworths, your winter so far is looking good!

Predominantly, the greys and blacks feature, as to be expected for those colder months and these colours are, kinder to those extra pounds that we may be carrying..I think I may be speaking just for myself here! Yes I have gained more than a couple of pounds over the summer months...I think my SD (Strawberry Daiquiri) research is to blame.

I couldn't resist buying these three little "softies" to wear with jeans, leggings or trousers, when the temperature does drop or I move away from the sub tropical climes of my hometown! What I did like about both the grey and the peach jersey, was the shirt tail at the back, which is more flattering, as it covers a little more of the rear!

I do think, however, that I have enough to carry me through Durban's winter, so jerseys are now off my shopping list....now let me see.... boots, yes boots can be next on my list, then again maybe not!
