RODIAL DRAGON'S BLOOD LIP MASK #TBT REVIEW

Despite me complaining below about my own lack of enthusiasm,
when it comes to sheet masks of any description,
Well guess what... I am still just as bad!
I do have another of the RODIAL Lip Masks that came in one of my beauty
advent calendars and its just waiting for a special occasion.

~~~~~~
WoW this review is long overdue, as I've had this in my sheet mask stash,
you know that stash that I never seem to get around to using, for literally
 a year or more and to be honest it's on the edge of its expiry date.
If you read my blog regularly you will already know that I'm the worst person when
it comes to using sheet masks, as I find them such a faff, yet I still continue to
 buy them with all good intentions.
I recently reviewed the
 RODIAL DRAGONS BLOOD EYE MASK
which I loved, so I'm hoping to enjoy this Lip Mask as much.
I'm not sure that you can technically call this Lip Mask from RODIAL a sheet mask,
 as it only covers the skin over and around the lips.
 It is however made from the same bio-cellulose fibre as a sheet mask and is
applied over the lips and left to work its plumping, hydrating magic for 15mins
and then removed.
They claim to achieve the perfect, fuller looking pout and give an instant moisture boost,
 comfort and soothe the skin for smoother, younger looking lips and wouldn't that
be just wonderful on my aged lined less than perfect pout.
It is a sad fact that the lips loose their fullness with age and become thinner, due to
 the decline in collagen production, Hyaluronic Acid and dehydration.
Thankfully this product contains a cocktail of lip plumping ingredients:
Dragon’s blood extract:
anti-inflammatory and soothes and protects skin from external aggressors.
Hyaluronic acid:
provides intense hydration.
Glycerin:
helps main skin’s outer barrier to retain moisture.
How to use:
Remove lip mask from the protective fabric sheets on each side and apply
 directly to cleansed lips.
Leave for 15 minutes and peel away.
Gently massage any residue into lips.
Discard mask after use.
Cautions:
Wash hands thoroughly before use. Do not use on eczema, broken or irritated skin.
Discontinue use if you experience any redness, swelling or irritation.
This Lip Mask from RODIAL has gained the love of many a celebrity and beauty
editor globally, so there must be some merit to what it can do...
My Impressions:
This is a well saturated soft gel textured mask that's a little fiddly to apply,
aren't they all, and once on its easy to manoeuvre into the correct place.
The sachet contains ample serum to apply on its own for several
more applications.
It initially feels quite cool and soothing on the lips and over time the serum is
absorbed leaving the mask to almost become a second skin over the lips and around
the mouth. There is obviously no drinking, eating or talking for 15 mins.
After 15 minutes its easy to remove and then you can just massage any excess
serum into the skin.
I can't say that I noticed any immediate plumpness and it didn't make my
lips look any thicker, but I did notice that there was a deepening of my natural
lip colour.
For me the most noticeable and immediate difference was the softness
 and smoothness of my lips and with time i.e the next day, I started to think
that my usual thin upper lip had more volume and there was also a slight softening
of the feathery lines above my top lip.
 In comparison to other one shot face or sheet masks I don't think it works out too
 expensive per mask, especially if you buy the better value box of 8.
Despite being a quick fix type of product, which would be great for a big night out
or a special occasion, I would definitely re-purchase, if for no other reason than
 for the great way it made my lips feel, soft, moisturised and smooth.
Let me know in the comments below if you have used either of the RODIAL
masks and what you thoughts are on either of these products...
RODIAL SOFT FOCUS GLOW BOOSTER DROPS {REVIEW}
RODIAL SOFT FOCUS GLOW BOOSTER DROPS
were on my UK shopping list a couple of years ago and due to a lack
of beauty budget they were overlooked for other products that were
 obviously deemed more important to me at the time.
Not having any official stockists of RODIAL in South Africa,
we do have online 3rd retailers and this is where I recently managed
to order my product from.
With age it's only natural to be drawn to products that promise to
enhance/restore that radiance and glow that the skin once had and
 I'm a self confessed glow and radiance addict.
So as you can imagine when a beautiful pearly pink serum offers to
"Illuminate the complexion and achieve a lit-from-within glow"
and the words Soft Focus are mentioned I'm both
interested and intrigued.
This next-generation wonder serum combines skincare actives with a
 subtle pearlescence to instantly boost luminosity.
 Its weightless formula is enriched with an antioxidant to help to rejuvenate
 the skin creating the perfect dewy base for makeup application or used
on its own as a soft-focus skin-enhancing serum.
Key benefits:
Squalane known to soften skin and smooth texture
Glycerin helps to maintain moisture levels for dewy-looking skin
Antioxidants work to brighten skin and boost luminosityApply two drops and pat into a clean, dry face.
Use before makeup as the ultimate illuminating primer or use on
its own for a dewy complexion.
Just a word of warning you do need to shake well before use.
I do enjoy a product in a dropper bottle, as I like to be in
control of how much I dispense and that's particularly
important with this product.
I did experience some stickiness on the skin if I used too
much of the product, but you soon get to know how
much to dispense.
I also had some concerns that this serum would impart more
of a shimmer to the skin, like so many similar products do,
but I'm glad to report that all it takes are a couple of drops
to transform a dull skin into a soft glowing and dewy skin.
I was also impressed by how moisturising the serum felt,
especially when used on its own.
It was super easy to incorporate into my skincare routine,
whether I used as a primer under foundation, on its own with
no moisturiser, or over my usual moisturiser,
however I also enjoyed mixing the Glow Drops with my
foundation before application.
The soft focus glow drops deliver what it says on the box.
However this product is by no means a "must have" in your
skincare regime, but it's certainly a "nice to have" product
especially if you have a mature skin and are looking for
a little BOOST on the glow front.
BEAUTY PRODUCTS CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW {MAY 2021}
As you may or may not know I like to give you prior
notice as to which products I will be reviewing in the near future.
I have an assortment of beauty products to review over the next
couple of weeks ranging from fragrance, to yet another lip balm,
a rather pricey sheet mask and finally some skin glow drops that I
have had my eye on for sometime now.
L-R
1.
111 SKIN
ROSE GOLD
BRIGHTENING FACIAL
TREATMENT MASK
 Despite having heard of this brand and knowing of their infamous
 sheet masks, this will be my first time trying one, so I'm excited
to finally get to try and experience and more importantly to see for
myself what all the fuss and hype is about.
2.
JO MALONE
ENGLISH PEAR & FREESIA
COLOGNE
Having struggled for so long to find any JO MALONE fragrances that
I truly love and adore I have successfully only found two
Wood Sage & Sea Salt & Earl Grey & Cucumber are my fragrance
loves and to read my reviews on both of these fragrances click here
I recently received this 9ml deluxe sample spray of
English Pear & Freesia Cologne with a repeat purchase of my
Wood Sage & Sea Salt and this will be nice to see if I can make
it a JO MALONE hat trick, as the scent from Freesias are my favourite.
3.
BURTS BEES
TINTED LIP BALM
I may be appearing a little obsessed over BURTS BEES
lip products, as I have another to review this month, but I really
do rate them and they're so affordable and easily available.
I feel tinted lip balms are becoming the new lipsticks and I
have high hopes for their tinted version.
4.
RODIAL
SOFT FOCUS
GLOW DROPS
A couple of years back, when this product was launched overseas,
I was quite taken with it and for a short while it was
on my overseas wish list and for some reason, I removed it.
It recently appeared on a third party South African beauty retailer
at a reduced priced and I snapped it up, as it worked out cheaper
than the normal overseas RSP.
I have reviewed a couple of RODIAL offerings and had mixed
opinions, so I'm hoping this product won't disappoint.
As always let me know in the comments below, as to what you
think of any of the above products that are "Currently Under Review".
RODIAL DRAGON'S BLOOD EYE MASK {REVIEW}
This review is so overdue, as I included this product in my
 Beauty Products Currently Under Review post
way back in May 2018 and I have only very recently put it to the test.
Luckily they hadn't expired!
The Dragon's Blood Eye Mask from Rodial
has been a fave of many beauty editors and celebs for sometime now and
it promises to revive, awaken and refresh tired eyes.
My current "can't live without" eye mask for several years now and especially for travel has been the
Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Concentrated Recovery Eye Mask
This eye mask from Rodial sounds right up my beauty street and knowing how I love a good eye mask, during flights more than any other time, let's see if this one could in fact
become my new travel companion (once we can travel again)...
These innovative gel eye masks have been
formulated to provide intense hydration to the delicate eye area and provide an immediate
de-puff and cooling effect to help the eyes look instantly
brighter and more alert.
The list of active ingredients below look highly promising.
Dragon's Blood:
(Not blood from a Dragon, but rather from the Croton Lechleri tree)
Lifts, firms and smooths skin while reducing redness and inflammation.
Hyaluronic Acid:
 Provides longlasting hydration, while plumping the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Arnica Extract:
 Reduces under-eye puffiness and dark circles.
Bio-cellulose:
Deeply hydrating.
Unfortunately I didn't find them the easiest of masks to use and I found them a little sticky and tricky to handle and it's somewhat of a skill to prevent them from
folding over and sticking back onto themselves.
Also try to position correctly first time and try not to re position whilst on the skin.
Instructions for Use:
Remove each eye mask from the plastic sheet and apply bio-cellulose mask
 directly to the under eye area on cleansed skin.
Place narrow side towards the nose, wide side to outer corner of the eye.
Remove the second protective fabric sheet.
Leave on for 20-30 minutes and peel away.
 Gently massage any residue into skin.
Discard mask after use.
I found the eye masks to be drenched in serum and there was plenty left in the
sachet to use for a couple more applications, obviously without the actual eye mask.
(Just re-seal the sachet well)
Once applied the Bio-Cellulose technology which acts like a second skin, seemed to almost blend into the skin as opposed to sitting on the surface, which was a nice feature.The eye mask was extremely cooling and as its infused with Dragon's Blood Complex it intensely moisturised and de-puffed the skin around the eye area, even if the skin is sensitive.
My fatigued eyes were definitely feeling more perky after use, the skin also looked brighter and felt comforted, cooled and refreshed. I would highly recommend and without hesitation I'd re-purchase.
One last note:
Would the Rodial Dragon's Blood Eye Mask be travelling with me in future? Sadly NO and that's not due to any poor performance of the product, but it has more to do with the issue of tricky application making it not ideal during a long haul flight especially.
So for now Estée remains my "travel partner".
