VICTORIA BECKHAM NAIL COLOURS

Style Icon Victoria Beckham and her three year old daughter Harper Seven Beckham can often be found at their "fave" nail salons having "manis and pedis" together.
It's reported that the fashionista even sends her dog for "paw pedicures."
With her love for all things girly and especially nails, it seemed logical that at some stage she would launch a nail colour range and guess what... She has!

In December 2014 she launched a Limited Edition luxury nail colour collection in collaboration with Nails Inc. who just happen to be my best polish brand of all time.....can this get any better?

Well it seems not, as for now, there are only two shades, the one being a tomato/orange shade called Judo Red and the other a pale shade named Bamboo White.

Judo Red

Bamboo White

The nail polish comes in typical stylish VB black and white packaging and is inspired by the designer's upcoming Victoria Victoria Beckham spring/summer 2015.

Designed by Fabien Baron and Victoria Beckham, each bottle comes in matte black and matte white, and is created with fine Venetian glass, and is hand-frosted to leave a subtle reveal window.
Bamboo extract helps nails regain their natural shine, reduces nail ridges and imperfections, and promotes nail growth. Stretch-To-Fit technology is an elastic-like polymer that provides a flexible, self-leveling finish and increases the stretching and tensing properties of the polish. The result is color that glides onto the nail and fits every contour, ensuring a perfectly smooth application.
I have no doubt that the quality will be exceptional considering the tie in with Nails Inc.
but do they warrant a price tag of £25?
Whether they do or not you can be sure of one thing...they will sell like "hot cakes" or should I say "hot nails".

After all.. If Christian Louboutin can sell his nail colours for £50, then VB's seem well priced at 25 pounds.

DIOR GOLD LEAF TOP COAT

I couldn't resist giving this beautiful Gold Leaf Topcoat a try at the Dior counter in
Edgars Gateway today.
This forms part of their just launched
Limited Edition,
 Golden Shock Christmas 2014 collection.
It can be used over any colour polish,on its own, but over a red it looks stunning and will certainly give your nails that festive party look.

Whilst the gold leaf looks quite plentiful in the bottle it did require two or three applications in order to deposit a noticeable covering of gold flecks.
It does require a little care when applying as you need to press down the gold leaves onto the nails with the brush otherwise the leaves curl at the edges.
Don't expect a nice uniform look either, as each nail will have a a covering of various sizes and amounts of glistening golden leaves, resulting in your gold topped "mani" having a
different and unique look every time.
The top coat can be applied on all nails or an application to just one accent nail on each hand.
What was great about this product was the sticking power of the leaves,
(I was concerned that they would peel or drop off) , but once applied they stay!

The packaging is stunning and reminds me of a Christmas ornament, so I really don't mind finding one of these beauties under my tree this Christmas...

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN HAS LAUNCHED MORE STILETTOS

Louboutin Rouge

Christian Louboutin has launched 30 more stilettos, not of the shoe kind, but the nail colour kind.
Hot on the heels...(excuse the pun, I couldn't resist) of the hugely successful Louboutin Rouge comes the slightly shorter heeled bottle in 30 more shades, which fall into 3 groups of 10 polishes, The Pops, The Noirs, and The Nudes. You are now able to colour coordinate your nails with whichever Louboutins you are lucky to own...
However if a pair of Louboutins shoes are out of your budget, then the next best thing could be a pair of polishes...these can be ordered online and retail for $50 each.

The Pops

The Noirs

The Nudes

My fave colour is this stunning Pink Pluminette from the Pop collection
and I wish these were my nails, but alas they are not.
Dream on.....Beauty Shout Box.

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN NAIL COLOUR

I suppose it had to happen and for all Louboutin fans that infamous red (Rouge Louboutin) can now be worn on your nails as well as on the soles of your shoes...
This one product range (more colours will be launched in the future) will be available soon in the USA and the UK at a price of $50/£36 (approx R500/R666) I have no doubt that this product will "walk" of the shelves (excuse the pun) despite the price.
Just thinking out loud
"I wonder how many bottles you would need to cover the soles of a good pair stilettos?"

P.S. This colour has been available exclusively online  www.christianlouboutin.com ,but unfortunately those words in red pop up saying....SOLD OUT...just as I predicted!

“The red sole was born from red nail polish. I am giving back to beauty what the shoes took from the nails many years ago.” –Christian Louboutin

INGLOT 02M NAIL ENAMEL {REVIEW}

Nail Polish, Nail Varnish, Nail Enamels whatever you want to call them,
they are all the same or are they?
Apparently not and one of the newest technologies comes from the Polish brand
INGLOT
by the way of 02M Nail Enamel which uses a revolutionary breathable formula.
INGLOT
have an extensive range of nail colours and nail treatment products e.g.
ridge fillers, cuticle oil, cuticle removing gel to name but a few.

At this point I can guess what most people are probably thinking,
as I thought the same, but let's hear about this breathable formula...

- Originally used mainly for contact lenses, KS-02 polymer:

- significantly increases oxygen permeability of the nail enamel

- ensures water vapour permeability of the nail enamel

- facilitates spreading of the varnish

- reduces film tightness

I am sure you will agree, it all sounds very advanced and technical,
yet I have been using nail polish for nearly 30 years and I am really not "getting"
the need for this kind of enamel, as I have never experienced film tightness
or the need to facilitate the spreading of the varnish, as nowadays any
decent polish spreads well.
If you are looking for a healthier option of nail enamel then perhaps
this is the one to buy!

In my quest to get an "understanding" for this product I did some research and soon realized, what was originally created as a "healthy" option has become
a "must have" by many women of the Muslim faith.
Ok I know, you may be confused right now and you are wondering what does
religion have to do with a nail varnish.
Take your eyes back up to the features of this breathable formula
and there lies the answer - ensure water vapour permeability of the nail enamel!

A “breathable” nail polish is said to be halal (allowed by Islamic law) and provides no obstacle for women who want to complete their wudhu (ablution) before the daily prayers.
Nail polish is considered inconsistent with wudhu because of the physical layer it creates over the nails. This prevents water from cleansing the nails, which is a requirement for wudhu.
Therefore, a woman would have remove her nail polish every time she needs to renew her wudhu, which may mean removing and re-varnishing several times a day. However it seems like this new formula nail enamel has caused some controversy, despite being hugely popular in many Muslim countries.

Be that as it may, what are my opinions on this polish!

1. The bottle was easy in the hand.
2. The width of the brush made it really easy to apply.
3. The spreadability of the product was no different to any other good polish.
4. Quick drying.
5. I found, despite my nails being clean and I mixed the bottle thoroughly
before use,the polish deposited tiny flecks of beads on my nail
(Not dissimilar to the dust left behind after filing your nails)
This meant that the finish was not smooth.
5. I also found it to chip literally after a day of wearing.
6. The colour also faded on my nails and lost its intensity.

The INGLOT O2M NAIL ENAMEL
retails in South Africa for R159 which is pricey!

Would I buy it again?
No, as I really could not see any short term benefit of using this product,
but I did love the colour.
I bought shade 607 and if they had a color in their collection that I just
had to have then I would consider buying again.

GWEN STEFANI BY OPI

If you are a Gwen Stefani fan or just a fan of OPI products then read the below article from
Are you ready for a Gwen Stefani nail polish collection? If you answered yes (and why wouldn't you?), then you'll be excited to hear the singer has just inked a deal with OPI! And as with just about everything Gwen does, you can expect a punk twist to the collaboration, which was, incidentally, inspired by the 2013 Met Gala theme, "Punk: Chaos to Couture."Launching in January, the limited-edition lineup will include the following Gwen-centric polishes: Hey Baby and I Sing in Color, both glossy crèmes; Love.Angel.Music.Baby. and 4 in the Morning, both semimatte satins; Push and Shove, a bold chrome that comes with a complimentary base coat; and In True Stefani Fashion, a sparkly glitter. There will also be a special boxed set featuring Over & Over A-Gwen, a bold red lacquer that pays homage to Gwen's signature red lip, and Swarovski Elements, a nail art kit consisting of nail glue, black crystals, and metallic studs in bar, circle, square, and diamond shapes."OPI wanted to create a collection as dramatic, diverse, and glamorous as its namesake," said OPI's artistic director, Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. "With crème and glitter hues, new satin matte texture, a mirrored chrome, and Swarovski Elements, Gwen Stefani by OPI presents the latest in pigments and finishes, while combining elements of haute couture and street fashion."

The Swarovski Elements sound interesting!
I am not sure when it will be available in South Africa, but I will keep you informed!

FRIDAY FINDS

Another Friday has come around....and here are some of my random finds for this week!

Enjoy!

1) I found this delicious Chocolate Fudge Sensation Cake from the UK budget frozen food brand Iceland. Checkers are importing several lines and have been for many months now. I must admit, most of which I wouldn't consider buying let alone eating, but the cakes and deserts have been surprisingly good. This Choc fudge cake is great heated and served with ice cream.
The price is also good at R29.95
I know this is not good for the diet, but I like to buy for my "hubby"and "kiddiewinks" and I just look on, as they enjoy!
Oh gosh! my nose has just grown a little longer, it must be that new cream that I am trying.....

2) This Titania foot and hand pumice sponge is excellent for removing dead skin. This German foot and hand care brand have been around in South Africa for many years, but they can be sometimes a little difficult to find.
At only R16.95 its great value as it last for ages.Good Chemists should stock.

3) The L'Occitane Magic Key is a "magic" little item to have in the home. It's designed to be used on their products that come packaged in metal tubes e.g. hand and foot creams, but can be used on most household tubes. When you have three men around the home, inevitably it's always "moi" that is left to squeeze the last dregs out of the toothpaste tube, well no more since buying these.Mine have lasted for years, as they are made of metal and much more robust than the cheap plastic ones that you can buy and at R45 they have more than paid for themselves with the savings you make.
Available from all L'Occitane boutiques countrywide.

NAILS INC.

New "nail" kid, on the South African block, is nails inc. from the UK and was launched recently in selected Edgars and Red squares around South Africa . Nails inc. was founded in 1999 by a London fashion editor Thea Green, who saw a gap in the market for a much needed range of fashionable, luxurious, salon quality range of nail products.

Thea's fashion background was pivotal in the development of nails inc. and continues to be so even today. Fashion trends are reflected in the range of colours and several special effect products like, magnetic, crackle, 3D glitter, concrete, leather and I must not forget to make mention of their nail jewellery. Another distinct feature of the nails inc range are the names of the nail colours , as they all reflect famous London destinations e.g. Baker Street, Kensington Park, Carnaby Street and Pall Mall, just to name a few.

Nearly fifteen years later, nails inc. has become a very successful nail bar chain in the UK with over 60 nail bars and is infamous for its 15 minute manicure and their extensive range of products is now available internationally.

As you will already know, my polish of choice, would be either from Essie or Trind, but I recently bought a Taupe colour, which I have been looking for ages, from nails inc. called Basil Street. The outer packaging, the round bottle is simple and nothing fancy, but its the contents that I am more interested in....

Immediately I loved the length and width of the applicator brush, which was easy to handle and made the applying of the varnish a pleasure rather than a chore, which for me it sometimes can be, if the width and length are not balanced. The polish glided on evenly and the coverage was good, even with one coat, but I am a two or three coat kinda girl, which only added to the overall professional finish of my own manicure. What was noticeable, was the speed at which the polish dried and is an important feature in our hectic lives. As for the "chip ability" of the varnish, well...it was excellent, as I really put it through its paces and it passed with flying "London" colours!

Priced at R110, but judging by its performance on my nails over the past week, it's worth every rand!

Visit their website nails inc.  which has a great "try it on" feature, where you can view each polish on four different skin tones .
