DIOR BACKSTAGE FACE & BODY FOUNDATION {REVIEW}

For the past week I have been trying out a sample bottle of the 

Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation 

I haven't tried very much from Dior, when I worked for them

back in the day, fragrance was the only section of Beauté that was

available here in South Africa.

I have reviewed one other foundation

Which I enjoyed, but not enough to re-purchase, however I do recommend

my other Dior purchase

Dior Addict Lip Glow Lip Balm Review

The Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation 

is tested and approved by 100% of Dior professional makeup artists.

 With its fluid texture and second skin finish, 

this ultra-buildable foundation offers custom-made intensity.

Enriched with beauty-enhancing pigments, the formula fuses with skin 

that glows for a perfect, natural complexion in real life and through

 the camera's lens.

The waterproof formula of the Dior Backstage Face & Body foundation 

creates an invisible mesh on the skin and resists extreme conditions: 

workout sessions, water, extreme temperatures and humid environments.

 It even resists the bright lights both backstage and above the catwalk.

Thanks to its 40 shades, including 16 intensities and 6 undertones,

 the new Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation suits all skin tones.

Light nude coverage:

Use your fingers to gently dab 1 layer of foundation and massage 

onto face.

Medium coverage:

Apply 2 layers with Light Coverage Foundation Brush N 11 from the

 centre of the face outwards.

Full perfection coverage:

Apply up to 3 layers of foundation in circular motions.

The shade of my very generous sample was 3N (neutral) and it was an

 ideal match.

The cute replica of the full size, even had its own built in spatula

which made application super easy and there was way less wastage.

After not being WOW'd with the Forever Skin Glow Foundation I wasn't

sure what to expect from this one.

The consistency is quite creamy and its very easy to spread and work

with. As Dior say, its buildable in fact it's very buildable and really

does offer you the ability to create your own level of coverage.

Personally one application was enough for me in terms of coverage 

with the medium coverage being reserved for those special occasions 

I didn't test out 3 layers and I don't doubt its full coverage claim.

I normally enjoy a little more glow to my foundation, but I really

loved the natural/flawless finish and it felt lightweight on the skin.

In terms of staying power I have no complaints and it looked

just as good at the end of the day as it did at the beginning.

I am on the hunt for a new luxury foundation and I do have

my eye on a couple of other brands, so I'm not sure if this will

be the one or not, it all depends on how well the other foundations

perform.

So far though this is a great contender...

SUNDAY SAMPLE

 I was recently given some Dior samples and amongst them was

this beautifully packaged and very cute 5ml sample of the

DIOR BACKSTAGE

FACE & BODY FOUNDATION

This product is advertised as being the Dior makeup artists' secret weapon 

to create an instantly flawless complexion with ultra-buildable coverage, 

from a natural nude glow to high-coverage perfection.

The first make-up line inspired by Dior backstage, 

designed by Peter Philips, 

Dior's Creative and Image Director for make-up,
 for all women seeking a professional result.

I was given the shade 3N and I am looking for another Prestige foundation,

 as my usual go to's are either finished or in one instance discontinued,

 so pop back next Sunday for my review on this foundation.

MY TOP 5 MAKE-UP PRODUCTS 2021

I've only 5 Make-Up products on my 2021 list, which is down from

6 products in 2020 here

 and that maybe due to the fact that I have been

more discerning with my make-up purchases during the past year

 and to be honest I'm getting to a point where I feel that I have really

found some wonderful products over the past few years and I'm loathed

to try anything new unless it speaks to me and I mean strongly

speaks to me.

Fortunately, these 5 below did and I wasn't disappointed and would

highly recommend.

Apart from the BURT'S BEES the rest all fall into the Luxury category

and two of the product were first time brands for me

As in 2020, I have 2 products from BY TERRY and I can assure you that

more will be appearing on my Top 2022 list.

BRIGHTENING CC PALETTE

BEACH BOMB

I deliberated somewhat as to whether I should buy this palette

or not and I'm so glad that I finally saw the light, as this

has been my "go to" since I purchased it back in September.

Presented in a rose-gold embossed palette, which just oozes luxury, feels

so comfortable in the hand and has a great large magnifying mirror in the lid,

 which I do use, as many I don't.

I'm happy to report back that all the colours have been used equally either

 on the cheeks, face and I often apply as eyeshadow.

The colour pay off is good and true and they're easy to apply and blend

and I'm so happy with this multi-tasking palette.

It was a Limited Edition, but I see online that they are still available.

HYDRA CONCEALER

My collection of BY TERRY products has grown with each year and

I was excited to add the Hyaluronic Hydra Concealer back in August.

Along with a mascara, concealer is perhaps one of my most used

make-up items, so it's fair to say that I love a good concealer.

In a nutshell the Hyaluronic acid skincare concealer is an

 87% skincare based formula. 

It Hydrates,

Disguises dark circles, 

Plumps and blurs the skin, 

Brightens and protects,

 Buildable coverage and finally its Long-Lasting. 

On paper it seemed like it was a concealer that truly ticked all of my

concealer boxes and being a sucker for treatment based make-up, so

how could I or anyone else not like it, well the truth is I absolutely 

ADORE

this product and BYTERRY have nailed it again and I would go as far to say

 it's my No 1 concealer of all time.

CHANEL

LES BEIGES

FRESH-WATER TINT

Again this was another Luxury product that I dilly-dallied over

partially due to the price and did I need this type of a "barely there"

type of face tint product.

Well it appears that I did and I've been loving it, especially during 

these hot Summer months.

This was also, my first purchase ever of a Chanel Beauty product.

This lightweight, hydrating and instantly refreshing, the ultra-light formula

 is composed of 75% and can be used either on its own, 

under or over foundation.

I personally have only tried the "use on its own" method and it's like 

no other product that I have ever tried and whilst it offers zero coverage

it does reveal a radiant, healthy, glowing and hydrated complexion 

and I absolutely love everything about this product, 

with one exception...THE PRICE! and if your beauty budget can stretch,

then again, I highly recommend.

LIP ADDICT

LIP GLOW BALM

I am a self confessed Lip Balm addict , as I have said on many occasions

and I am never too far away from one, however of late I have been 

"pushing out the spend boat" with this

 DIOR LIP GLOW LIP BALM

This was also my first DIOR spend for many a year.

Considering the price I was expecting great things from this product and 

on paper it looked promising, as this is the 1st Dior lip balm formulated

 with 97% natural-origin ingredients that

 subtly revives the natural colour of lips with a custom glow for 6h and 

hydrates the lips for 24h.

Multi-use, Dior Addict Lip Glow can be worn on its own as a lip balm

 or as a primer under lipstick, however I tended to wear it alone.

Did it turn out to be as promising on the lips as it did on paper?

Yes it did and this product may have ignited a DIOR flame

to try further Lip Addict products and shades.

BURTS BEES

LIP BALMS

During 2021 I was introduced to the USA brand BURT'S BEES and have

 since become a huge fan of their Lip Balms.

I have cheated a little, as I have 3 favourites, so I've listed them all

under one. I have even included their Cuticle Cream in my 

Top Hair & Body Products of 2021.

In my opinion they have nailed ''all things'' lip balms and whether 

you are looking for a traditional moisturising natural lip balm, one with

a shimmer or a tinted lip balm you really can't go wrong with the

BURT'S BEES products, after all they have been perfecting their

Lip Balm art since 1984.

 and the lips felt well hydrated for several hours.

BEACH BOMB

Love Love Love this versatile Brightening CC Palette from BYTERRY.

To be absolutely honest I did not need anymore face palettes, but I found 

this one hard to resist, as its beauty extends to the box, the palette and 

the contents making it a "must have" for me.

These 4 beautiful shades can be used as brightening powders, 

glowy blushers, cheek highlighters or bronzers! 

The beautiful highlighting textures have been created to give your skin

 its glow back and that it certainly does.

The colour pay off is good and true and they're easy to apply and blend.

Do I regret buying, definitely NOT!

Considering the price I was expecting great things from this product and 

on paper it was looking promising, as this is the 1st Dior lip balm formulated

Thanks to its colour reviver technology, the Dior Addict Lip Glow lip balm reacts

 with the moisture level of the lips to reveal a custom colour and a subtle shine.

This extremely sensorial balmy balm reveals maximum comfort and care

 for a long time and the lips felt well hydrated for many hours, but personally

 I wouldn't say it extends to 24hrs.

 This unique formula made with natural-origin ingredients is

 infused with the wonders of the main ingredient  cherry oil... 

 

Cherry Oil: 

helps reconstruct and strengthen the natural barrier function of the skin

 of the lips over the course of applications. 

The balm provides a sensation of instant comfort.

DIOR FOREVER SKIN GLOW FOUNDATION {REVIEW}

I doubt very much that Dior and elephant are ever mentioned in the same sentence,
but I have to initially mention the "Elephant in the Room" or should it be
 "Elephant on the blog",
and that is the price of the Dior Forever Glow Foundation, as it comes
in at a hefty R880.

I personally don't have any issue with parting with that kind of money, but it would be on a skincare product and not so much on make-up, for me skincare is priority and should always command the larger portion of any beauty budget.
If your beauty budget allows and your skincare regime is on point then lets look more into this new Forever Foundation from the deluxe French brand Dior.

Dior claims to take 24 hour complexion perfection to the next level with FOREVER.

Introducing the new Dior Forever Skin Glow foundation. With Dior's iconic long-wearing Forever foundation formula, now offered in a radiant finish, the complexion appears flawless and even and the pores tightened. 

A hydration booster, pansy extract helps protect the skin from drying.From morning to night, the perfect water-oil balance delivers a naturally vibrant, shine-free glow. 

Protective rose hip extract, which has been the star ingredient of Dior Forever for years, helps protect the quality of skin from exterior aggressors and reduce the appearance of dilated pores. 

 Instantly enhances the appearance of the skin and improves its quality day after day with a formula enriched in meticulously selected skincare ingredients.  The skin is protected from exterior aggressors and UVA and UVB rays with SPF 35 PA++ protection.

As you can see this foundation offers more skincare benefits than your average
 foundation some of which are cumulative,
(which obviously I can't vouch for after using only 4 times) 
 but personally I would prefer to rely on specific skincare products

to deal with issues of hydration and sun protection.

The Dior Forever Skin Glow has a fluid formula aimed for drier skins and offers a 
medium to full coverage, I would say it leans more to medium on me.
On a suitably prepped skin this foundation is super easy to apply, is buildable
and has a noticeable skincare feel about it.
With the promise of a flawless, long wearing, glowy complexion I was slightly
 disappointed on two of these points, firstly if you have an already flawless skin 
then this foundation will enhance that and look great, but lets be real here my skin
 passed the flawless stage many years ago, so I wasn't expecting any great 
improvement there.

On the "Long Wearing" front I found the foundation transferred easily, but I soon
remedied that by using the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray.
With regards to the "Skin Glow" this is where I was the most disappointed,as I
didn't experience anything more than I could get from drugstore foundations and again
I remedied this on the one occasion by adding a couple of drops of a glow enhancer.
Even though I liked he foundation overall, I asked myself
"why would I part with R880 and then have to tweak it to give it some glow and stop
the transfer"

Dior Forever Skin Glow adapts to every skin tone and is available in 31 shades.
My shade was N3.

My recommendations:
If you are a Dior Devotee or have a flawless skin already and budget isn't an issue
 then you will no doubt love this foundation, so go for it.
If you have the cash to spend but your skincare is not up to par then without a doubt spend the R880 more wisely on skincare.
If this foundation doesn't fall into you budget at all, then don't worry there are plenty of good similar products out there that are more affordable.

SUNDAY SAMPLE

I've been hearing so much about the recently launched 

FOREVER SKIN GLOW
24H Wear Perfection Skin-Caring Foundation
from Dior and after being suitably colour matched, I'm shade 3N, 
I'll be trying out this sample for the week.
 Considering the full sized product carries a hefty price tag of R880 I'm expecting 

Great things from this 3ml sample.

(Interestingly my review on the L'Oréal Infaillible Stay Fresh foundation will be up on my 
blog on Wednesday and that carries an affordable price tag of R230)

So feel free to pop back on Sunday to read my honest opinion, as to whether 
I would purchase this foundation or not.
