Indian Summer is an Authentic Indian Restaurant situated in the Sunningdale Centre on the corner of Umhlanga Rocks Drive and Village Way Sunningdale, Durban.
The menu is extensive and has a good selection of dishes from South India as well as Indian-Chinese cuisine.
Be warned though, that it is one of those menus that requires some time to read through in order to decide which dish to opt for. Then just as you think you know what you want to order you will change your mind as you re read the menu. Fortunately for all the "can't make my mind up" diners out there, the Chef does make his recommendations on each section of the menu, which is what we opted for.
We took his advice and ordered:
Prawn Tikka Masala - prawns cooked in a spicy tomato gravy enriched with butter & fresh cream R69
Lamb Korma - shredded pieces of baby lamb cooked in a mild sweet cashew nut gravy with fresh cream R60
Basmati Rice is a side order R9
The restaurant itself , to me lacks a little atmosphere, but the food....well! all I can say about the food,is that "everything was so tasty and delicious" and I cannot wait to go back and try some of the other dishes......The service was good and the waiters very helpful and efficient, however they do print on the menu that the food will take approximately 20-25 mins to be served to you, as all the dishes are freshly prepared to order. As the saying goes "all good things come to those that wait" well this was certainly the case!
We have also tried the Lamb Rogan Josh - lamb cubes cooked in a brown onion gravy R58 and that was just as good regardless of the fact it was a take out meal.
