EVE LOM RADIANCE TRANSFORMING MASK {REVIEW}

I've been reviewing products on my blog now for over 6 years and that's after spending my working life in the beauty business and this Eve Lom Radiance Transforming Mask has left me in somewhat of a quandary.
Before I jump straight into to my thoughts and opinions lets just get up to speed
with the Eve Lom brand.

This former Czechoslavkian herbalist and facialist created her own line of
 products back in 1985.
The skin care collection by EVE LOM has quickly achieved worldwide cult status.
It is the must-have range of beauty editors and journalists, make-up artists, and of course...celebrities.
They claim that it's much more than just a typical skin care range - each product is a unique tool, a luxurious beauty ritual that transforms the condition of the skin.

Whilst having never used anything from Eve Lom previously, I have been very aware of its now cult status product - Eve Lom Cleansing Balm which has been given the prestige tittle as being the best cleanser ever by many beauty editors and gurus.
(I also received a sample of this product from SpaceNk whilst overseas so expect to
see it on a Sunday Sample post soon)
I was excited to try this Radiance Transforming Mask, in fact I was excited to try
anything, from this high end skincare brand.

The sample I received was a generous 3ml size and allowed my to use the mask twice, now 3mls may not sound a lot but due to its texture and formulation qualities
a little really did go a long way.

Recently launched the Radiance Transforming Mask claims to reawaken the skin with a megadose of Antioxidant rich botanicals and I've decided to list the main actives as
there are a couple that I've never seen used in skincare before, which makes
for an interesting mask.

The Active ingredients include:

 LIME PEARL™ CAVIAR
A natural form of AHA, rich in organic acids, including citric acid. Provides a gentle yet effective exfoliation as it stimulates the natural process of cell turnover for a smooth, brighter complexion.

 HEMP SEED OIL
Rich in essential fatty acids to moisturise the skin without being greasy with antioxidant properties.

MICRO ALGAE EXTRACT
Naturally present in the waters of Europe, North America and Asia, this multi-functioning algae is enriched with marine water nutrients and provides antioxidant and anti-microbial defence. Oxygenation of the skin is improved, as it firms, hydrates and regenerates the skin.

LIPOANIMATED PLANT-DERIVED ACTIVE
A plant derived fatty acid linked with an amino acid to combat wrinkles, moisturizes and smooths skin whilst scavenging free radicals

AMINO ACID DERIVATIVE (ECTOIN) -
Responsible for providing the skin with environmental protection. Designed by nature in extreme conditions as a stress-protection molecule.

MAGNESIUM / ZINC / COPPER COMPLEX
Boosts the immediate availability of oxygen to the skin which stimulates cell metabolism. Protects the dermis from glycation and oxidative stress.

ABYSSINIAN OIL
Conditions the skin leaving a smooth and supple look. Also helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

SUNFLOWER SEED OIL/ ROSEMARY LEAF EXTRACT
a powerful antioxidant leaving skin feeling soothed, smoothed and well-conditioned.

This above combo of ingredients claim to reveal skin that looks renewed, supple and radiant immediately after us.

How to use:
Apply and massage a generous layer to cleansed, dry skin, avoiding the eye area.
Leave on for a minimum of 30 minutes, and remove with warm water.
Can also be used as overnight mask for optimal radiance.
Use 1-2 times a week.

However here are a couple of personal issues I experienced with this product.
The consistency of this mask is very thick and feels like
heavy "Vaseline", which I personally didn't like.
Once applied and massaged into the skin for a few seconds, the warmth from your
skin does make the mask melt and it becomes more emollient and less heavy.

My next issue was a "biggie" for me and that was the smell, I found the
Botanical smell too awful and there was one ingredient in particular that I
just couldn't tolerate and I can't tell you which one it was, but it proved to be a
real problem for me, so much so, that I struggled to keep the mask on for the
suggested 30mins and I could never leave it on overnight as they also suggest,
as the smell would just be too much and the greasy texture would be a
nightmare for my hair and pillowcases.

To be honest I have never experienced a product like this in my 40 year career
and even though my skin did feel softer and perhaps looked a little more radiant
I just couldn't get over the smell or the feel, so for me, this mask that promised
so much of what I was looking for left me not a fan...

Since trying the product I have read many reviews, all of which bestow high praise
onto this mask, but there were several that also complained about both the smell
and the thick and greasy formulation, which I must say made me feel somewhat better
about disliking this product so much

I will try the sample of the Cleansing Cream, even though I have my reservations,
as it will most likely contain the same core active ingredients that I dislike so much.

EVE LOM RADIANCE FACE MIST {REVIEW}

EVE LOM cult skin care classics have an ethos of 'less is more'
and have achieved worldwide cult status and with good reason,
as its much more than just a typical skin care range.

EVE LOM is known for being the secret addiction of women with
knowledge of beauty issues.
It is the must-have item of beauty editors and journalists,
make-up artists, and of course the most beautiful celebrities.
The Cleanser is a true classic, and Vogue famously called it 'probably
the best cleanser in the world'.
Having reviewed the EVE LOM Cleansing sometime ago and I couldn't help
but agree and I also rated it as one of the best cleansing balms,
however I have since reviewed their Radiance Transforming Mask
which sadly I didn't enjoy that.
To read my previous EVE LOM Reviews

I recently purchased their Travel size
 Radiance Face Mist
making this the third skincare product that I am trying
and I do love face mists and this one forms part of a wider
"Radiance" product range , so it seemed
an obvious choice, however this is a luxury brand and some may say
it's not a vital skincare addition and I agree to a point, but if you're not on
a budget and have a good skincare regime in place then this type of
product can make a lovely add-on, that your skin will love you for it...

This isn't just another facial spray, its a versatile, effective skincare treatment
in a mist form.
A key moisture complex in the Mist supports skin’s natural ability to regulate
water retention and adapt to changing fluctuations in humidity, keeping skin balanced and refreshed
Enriched with antioxidants that protect against free radicals and other
oxidative damage that can lead to premature ageing
An active derived from Wild Indigo provides antipollution benefits to calm skin
and reduce visible signs of stress caused by air pollution.
It improves skin elasticity and firmness and revives lack luster skin
 and provides a dewy look.

For all skin types just mist over entire face and neck.
Use before or after skincare routine or over makeup at any time throughout
the day for a boost of hydration and protection.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this facial spray and it turned
out to be all that I wanted it to be and then some.
It's serious skin care in a mist format and it's great as a boost
or top-up for the skin during the day.

The travel size of 15mls works perfectly for "on the go" and the spray
mechanism is different to most facial sprays and worked well.
There is a slight fragrance to the product and you do feel a film
of the moisture/hydration on the skin post spritz.
The radiance effect on the skin is super obvious initially and subsides
with time, but it certainly gives a good fix of glow.
This could indeed be my new travel companion,
if we ever get to travel again...

EVE LOM CLEANSER (REVIEW)

After a somewhat shaky beauty start to the world of EVE LOM,
this past week I have been trying out their iconic award winning cream cleanser
and my opinions have changed considerably.

The EVE LOM Cleanser claims to have changed the face of cleansing with this
Multi Tasking product.
Its been carefully formulated for all skin types it deep cleanses without
 drying or stripping
the skin and removes even the most stubborn of waterproof make-up.
Thorough cleansing and gentle exfoliation enables skin cells to regenerate quickly and
provides a base for beauty products to work at their best.
It decongests, exfoliates, tones and improves circulation when combined
with the Muslin Cloth.
Softens and conditions the skin whilst leaving it glowing,
radiant skin with a smoother, more refined texture.

It was surprising how many cleanses I managed to do with the contents of the
5ml sample that I received, which by the way also contained a muslin cloth.

The texture of this cleanser is a heavy dense balm and a little is all
you need to perform a good cleanse.
Warm a small amount in the palms of your hands and then apply to a dry skin
and massage over the face, eyes, lips and neck area
(concentrating on where the make-up is heaviest)
and as you work with the product it becomes more emollient and melts
the make-up easily. This can be used in the morning, but its
best to use in the evening to cleanse away all traces of make-up along with
the dirt and grime of the day.
You're also aware of the exfoliating granules when massaging,
but it's nothing too harsh.

The following active ingredients work together to dissolve even the heaviest
of make-up.
Clove Oil (has antiseptic properties to encourage clear skin),
Eucalyptus Oil (helps drain away toxins), Hops Oil (tones),
Egyptian Chamomile Oil (softens and soothes),
Cocoa Butter (conditions)

Once you've spent a couple of minutes working the product into the skin,
you then take the rinsed muslin cloth that has been soaked in warm water
and remove the cleanser.
(It's preferable to remove any eye make-up and mascara last)

It's also best to fold the cloth into quarters, so you use the cloths surface area to its max.
The warm water helps to release the essential oils and I'm happy to say
the fragrance of this EVE LOM Cleanser is very pleasant
(unlike the recent Radiance Transforming Mask sample I tried)

My skin felt super clean, radiant, smooth and not stripped of natural oils,
which so many cleansers can do.
I enjoyed using the textured muslin cloth, as it not only helps with the product removal process, but it also stimulates and exfoliates the skin.
In my opinion the cleanser and cloth combo is what makes this product so effective.

The product comes packaged with the Muslin cloths and you receive one
with the 100ml and two with the 200ml size and they can also be bought
separately in packs of 3.
(These cloths do need to be washed daily, as they do get dirty and stained
 especially with mascara)

I've never been a fan of cleansing balms, as I personally have always preferred
(as you know) a cleansing milk/cream type of product, but the Eve Lom claims to be the
"Original Cleansing Balm"
as it's been around for over 30 years and I'm happy to announce that this has
been the one to convert me into a "believer".
Every claim that they make above, about this product, is 100% accurate
and I wasn't left feeling short changed on promises.

After the disappointment with the mask I was sceptical about all the hype and
praise that this brand had been given by beauty editors and gurus around the world,
but how wrong I was, as I absolutely loved this cleanser.
I would actually go as far to say that its the "Best" Cleanser I've ever used and after
being in this business for over 35 years that's a BIG claim.

There is no denying that this cleanser is on the high end where prices are
concerned, but if your budget stretches then don't overlook this product
especially if you do wear heavy make-up daily.

I have inserted a short video that will show you the easy application
and removal process

EMMA HARDIE MORINGA CLEANSING BALM {REVIEW}

As I've said previously in cleansing reviews it's taken me a while to get into
Cleansing Balms and the EVE LOM Cleanser has been the "one" to convert me.
This much praised and award winning product seems to be the benchmark by which all other cleansing balms are judged.
The Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm is another award winning cleansing balm
that is highly praised and having used it for the past week I have to admit it comes a close second to the EVE LOM.

Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm like the EVE LOM comes with a Professional Cleansing Cloth.
The cloths, that come with both of these cleansers, seem to be an integral part of the professional deep cleansing and skin brightening success of these 2 products.
The Emma Hardie cloth is made from unique micro-fibre and backed with muslin to help insulate heat for ultimate compressing and skin cushioning.
The micro-fibre side delivers deep yet gentle pore cleansing and makeup removal.
(Due to me trialing a deluxe 15ml sample that came in a Marks and Spencer Beauty Advent Calendar I didn't have their cloth to use, so I used my EVE LOM muslin cloth which worked perfectly well, but I can't vouch for the above claims of the Emma Hardie microfibre/muslin cloth)
Being a key ingredient this product is highly fragranced with Moringa Seed extract and a cocktail of essential oils and it may not suit everyone especially if you have a sensitive skin or any intolerance to fragranced products.

Along with Wild Sea Fennel and Vitamin E, this nourishing balm delivers balancing, hydrating and purifying properties. It also contains a delectable mix of Grape Seed and Sweet Almond Oils, rich in essential fatty acids to help plump and soften the complexion.
Infused with Orange, Neroli, Mandarin, Jasmine and Rose essential oils to rejuvenate and condition while calming the senses
Take a small amount and warm between your fingertips to melt the product.
Apply to the face, neck and eye area and massage thoroughly into the skin.
To remove, soak a Professional Cleansing Cloth in warm water, squeeze out the excess.
Use the microfibre side first for removal, then repeat using the exfoliating muslin
side for skin polishing.

This cleanser has several other uses, non of which I have yet tried:
1. Hydrating treatment mask (leave on 10mins then remove)
2. Overnight facial treatment
3. Spot or breakout treatment
4.Massage into cuticles
5.Use as a lip balm

This luxurious daily cleanser can be used on all skin types and works to lift away makeup and impurities while revitalising dull skin.
It performs a deep cleanse, eliminating eye and face makeup effortlessly.

I am well and truly moving over to the "Cleansing Balm" side and this could be
my aim in 2019 to explore and test more Cleansing Balms.
The only problem I foresee; cleansing balms are such an economical way to cleanse the skin, due to only small amount being used, I will need to try samples in order to experience several during the year otherwise buying full sized products will mean that
I'll have product to last me for many years to come.

BEAUTY PRODUCTS CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW {NOVEMBER 2021}

Yes it's time for me to announce the products that I will be reviewing during November and I cannot quite believe there's only 2 months left of 2021.
I know I say it every month, but I do have some exciting products to
review in the upcoming weeks and that's because I'm rather choosy as to
which products I either buy or accept as PR gifts, of which there are
five this month.

1.
RAIN
BOTANICAL
FACIAL EXFOLIATOR

More known for their bath, body and home fragrance RAIN launched a
collection of skincare products back in 2019 and this is the 3rd product
from their Botanical skincare range that I have been gifted to try and as
you may or not know, an exfoliator is my most loved skincare product,
as it delivers instant results, so I'm keen to see how this one performs
in relation to the many others that I have used since I was in my
early 20's, YES that's how long I having been weekly exfoliating
my skin.

2.
TATA HARPER
HYALURONIC GEL MOISTURISER

I was given this product as part of a PR invite to experience the
newly introduced TATA HARPER treatments at the
Oyster Box Hotel Spa earlier this year and I have held it back to use
at the beginning of summer, so now is the ideal time to try this
weightless, hydrating daily moisturiser thats packed with
37 High-Performance ingredients.

3.
EVE LOM
RADIANCE FACE MIST

With age I'm drawn more and more to all things that promise
Radiance or mention the word Radiance, as that is what the skin lacks
with the advancing years.
This product was one of my very rare impulse purchases, but having tried
a couple of EVE LOM products previously, so my interest was piqued.
I'm an avid user of facial sprays and combine with radiance enhancing
ingredients I have high hopes for this product.

AVÈNE
TOLÉRANCE CONTROL

I was kindly sent this collection of the newly launched products
  AVÈNE TOLÉRANCE CONTROL
which have been formulated to both control and de-sensitise
skin that is Hypersentive, reactive, intolerant or allergic.
Apparently 1 in 2 women report have a hypersensitive skin, having
said this, my hubby has already fallen in love with the one product.
I will be reviewing these products in one post during this month and no
doubt hubby will throw in his findings.

There are 3 products available:

OSKIA RENAISSANCE CLEANSING GEL {REVIEW}

This is what I love about the Beauty Advent Calendars you inevitably discover new brands and products, some of which you may have never looked to try before.
Here is another great find and it comes from a brand I know little about and again it's
unfortunately not available here in South Africa.

The OSKIA Skincare brand hails from the UK and was founded by Georgie Cleeve back
in 2009 and has been awarded no less than 135 International Beauty Awards in its short life and as always here is a brief overview of the brand.

Georgie Cleeve founded Oskia after witnessing first-hand the skincare benefits of MSM, more commonly known as the 'Beauty Mineral'. A natural form of organic sulphur, MSM boosts collagen production, promotes circulation and helps decrease inflammation for a brighter, younger looking complexion and is a key ingredient in every Oskia product.
From this grew a comprehensive range that includes supplements, cleansers, masks and serums that work together to both correct and prevent the early signs of ageing.

They believe that cellular nutrients are the key to skin health and improving skin health
is the cornerstone of corrective and preventative skincare.

Simply put, OSKIA is a 'results only' driven brand. They only use safe, proven and published, patented actives & nutrients at efficacious percentages, that deliver real clinically-proven results. Every ingredient they use is extensively researched to ensure that the results are real and kind to your skin.
OSKIA only use naturally-derived, clean ingredients that are kind to your skin & our environment. They never use potentially harmful ingredients and much research goes into every single ingredient that they do use, as well as the ingredients that we have chosen not to use. They are best described as 'Clean Tech'.

This generous 35ml multi award winning
OSKIA RENAISSANCE CLEANSING GEL
was an inclusion in the LOOKFANTASTIC Beauty Advent Calendar 2019
and one I was happy to receive, as its a brand
and a product that I have heard so many good things about and as you may or may not know, I've recently become a cleansing Balm/Gel convert.

Formulated to purify, revitalise and strengthen the skin, the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel is a unique illuminating gel-to-oil facial cleanser, that works effortlessly to remove makeup and impurities and can be used on all skin types.
This vitamin rich, yet gentle formula is perfect for repairing and soothing sun damaged and dry skin, while fortified bio-available vitamins and fruit enzymes remove dead skin cells and enhance collagen production.Beginning as a rich pink balm, this unique cleanser melts into the skin and turns milky when mixed with water, then rinses cleanly away, along with any daily grime and makeup.I find it very similar in consistency to my favourite balm cleanser from EVE LOM
Fragranced of refreshing rose and chamomile it immediately soothes the senses, while the skin is left surprisingly soft and supple, it also feels revived and fresh.
As always gel cleansers are super easy to use, just massage onto dry skin, add a little water to emulsify into a white milk and then remove with warm water or damp muslin cloth.
If you are a fan of gel cleansers and especially of the EVE LOM Cleanser then you will no doubt enjoy the OSKIA Renaissance Cleansing Gel, as its a hard working cleanser that just gets on with the job at hand, without leaving your skin feeling or looking like its had a workout and I'm now officially a FAN...
