MY FAVOURITE BODY EXFOLIATORS {APRIL 2023}

 I have been promising to update my favourite Body Scrubs/Exfoliators
post for over a year now.
Whilst wanting to keep this list to my absolute favourites
I have sadly removed a couple from my previous list, but I've replaced
them with two that are even better.
I hope this helps you in making the correct choice when it comes
to effective body exfoliation products.
Enjoy!

~~~~~~
I have learnt that face, lip, hand and body exfoliation becomes even
 more important with age, as we need to encourage and stimulate the skins
cell renewal process, which naturally slows with age.
Body Polishers, scrubs and exfoliators, call them what you may,
 all pretty much do the same thing and that's to remove the surface
layer of the dead, drying skin cells that build up over time.
This build-up is responsible for giving the skin that rough, dull and uneven
appearance and feel to our skin whether it be on your face or body.
Exfoliators for the body generally comprise of coarser grains than those
 used on the face and I personally love a coarser type of scrub.
I feel that they are far more efficient at the exfoliation process and leave
 the skin feeling wonderfully smooth, soft and glowing.
As with most exfoliating type products you can control the degree of
 exfoliation by adding more or less water on application.
(If your skin leans more towards the sensitive side then finer granules
 would be more suited)
P.S
Remember to always apply a body lotion/cream post exfoliation to
replenish that all important hydro lipid layer.
Here is an update of my personal faves, but please let me know in the
comments below, your faves, as I'm always on the look out
for new ones to try and discover...
~~~~~~

WOW!
 this body scrub is possibly the best that I have ever reviewed
and I've reviewed many.

The RITUAL of HAMMAM Hot Body Scrub
Wake up your body and your senses with the ultimate purifying
scrub experience.
It's just how I love a body scrub to be, it has coarse salts that
really polish the skin, without stripping or damaging your
skin barrier, it smells divine and an added bonus with this one,
it has that slight warming feel on the skin.

I highly recommend this product if, like me, you enjoy a
corse salt scrub, one that you can feel working on your skin to
reveal a softer and smoother skin.

 For me this product combines the perfect exfoliation with a great
refreshing fragrance
It's truly bliss for the senses and I adore it...

NUXE RÊVE DE THÉ Revitalising Granular Body Scrub

This surprising exfoliating scrub, an ultra-fresh cocktail combining a green
 Tea extract with Bamboo grains, removes dead skin cells to leave skin feeling revitalized and invigorated, appearing renewed.
 Its granular texture and its irresistible scent with notes of green tea,
rhubarb and fresh herbs delight the senses to create a revitalizing
sensation of freshness.
 Formulated using plant-based exfoliants, this scrub with its crushed ice
 effect texture exfoliates and smoothes the skin.
 Freed of dead surface skin cells, skin feels revitalised and renewed.

I fell in love with this product as soon as I opened the jar,
as it truly smells divine and the aromas immediately work their
 magic to give you a feeling of well being.
It's my "Spa In A Jar"

Clarins Tonic Body Polisher
a wonderful mix of
100% essential oils including Rosemary, Rosewood, Mint,
Hazelnut & Geranium.
These essential oils not only promote a feeling of well being,
as they smell amazing, but more importantly help to both respect the
natural hydrolipidic film and nourish our skin post exfoliation.
The granules in this polisher are made up of a mixture of Sugar and
Salt crystals from the Camargue region in the South of France.
The only negative about this product is the price, so be warned it
comes in rather pricey.

CLARINS TONIC BODY POLISHER #TBT REVIEW

Throwing it back to February 2017 today with my review on the
Clarins Tonic Body Polisher
This product has been a constant in my body regime since then and I have
just finished yet another jar, however I am now finding the R640 pricing
to be rather steep and have reverted to another tried and tested
less expensive body scrub, but I must admit, I am already missing my
 Clarins Spa in a Jar.

 When I re post throwback product reviews I am always amazed at how the prices
have increased over the years and sadly South African increases are always the
 highest and on many occasions the $ & £ increases have been negligible
and have often remained the same.

I have updated the prices below and as you can see the $ price has
 increased by $1 and the £ price has remained the same, whilst the
SA price has increased by R140
I also notice that the name of this product in the US & UK has
changed to
Tonic Sugar Polisher

~~~~~~
I love a good face and body exfoliator and I'm one of those people that use
regularly as part of my beauty regime and I really don't find it a chore,
as there is nothing nicer than the feeling of a smooth, soft and revitalised skin
 and considering the little effort required, it yields maximum results.
An exfoliator for the face or body is the one product that gives instant results
 that you can both see and feel.
If you don't use an exfoliator then now is the time, as it's never too late to
introduce to your beauty routine.
I have learnt that face, lip, hand and body exfoliation becomes even more
important with age, as we need to encourage and stimulate the skins
cell renewal process, which naturally slows with age.
Body Polishers, scrubs and exfoliators, call them what you may,
 all pretty much do the same thing and that's to remove the surface
layer of the dead, drying skin cells that build up over time.
This build-up is responsible for giving the skin that rough, dull and uneven
appearance and feel to our skin whether it be on your face or body.
Exfoliators for the body generally comprise of coarser grains than those used
 on the face and I personally love a coarser type of scrub.
feeling wonderfully smooth, soft and glowing.
As with most exfoliating type products you can control the degree of exfoliation
 by adding more or less water on application.
(If your skin leans more towards the sensitive side then finer granules
 would be more suited)
To say that I have used so many body scrubs etc. over my years I cannot believe
 that the Clarins Tonic Body Polisher with Essential Oils escaped my
 "beady beauty eye",
but it did much to my annoyance and loss.
Having started my beauty career here in South Africa with Clarins,
firstly as a counter consultant and then as a rep, I have a fond appreciation
and respect for the brand.
Originally Clarins had 3 specific body oils on offer:
Tonic Oil (Firmness & Tone)
Relaxing Oil (Soothing & Relaxing)
Anti-Eau Oil (Anti Water & Fluid Retention)
They no longer have the Anti-Eau Oil, but have extended their product offering
 within the Relax and Tonic ranges, which I'm happy about.
The clever people at Clarins have included in their Tonic Body Polisher
a wonderful mix of
100% essential oils including Rosemary, Rosewood, Mint, Hazelnut & Geranium
These essential oils not only promote a feeling of well being,
as they smell amazing, but more importantly help to both respect the
natural hydrolipidic film and nourish our skin post exfoliation.
The granules in this polisher are made up of a mixture of Sugar and Salt crystals
 from the Camargue region in the South of France
(I have been lucky to have visited this beautiful region)
This mixture is what eliminates those dead cells, whilst deep cleansing the skin
to reveal a smoother, brighter and more toned skin.
The inclusion of one of my favourite ingredients Shea Butter along with Hazelnut Oil
make this body polisher super nourishing and softening on the skin.
This body polisher is also a perfect product to prep the skin prior to the application
of a self tan, as it ensures an even and streak free bronzed result.
Body exfoliators are easy peasy to use:
Use once or twice a week. Lightly massage into clean, damp skin, concentrating
on areas of rough skin: elbows, knees, feet. Rinse well.
(Remember it's always advisable to use a moisturising product immediately
after any skin exfoliating)
I fell in love with this product as soon as I opened the jar, as it truly smells
divine and the  aromas immediately work their magic to give you a
feeling of well being.
It's my "Spa In A Jar" and as if it couldn't get any better, the Body Polisher is
super effective at what it's name suggests and that's...
Polishing the Body
MY TOP 3 BODY SCRUBS {AUGUST 2019}
We all know by now, or we should, that exfoliation for the face is a vital component
of any good anti-ageing skincare regime and its been a weekly step in my routine since I was in my early 20's.
The same applies for the body and to be blunt:
 "Who wants to see a relatively youthful face on an aged looking body".
Whilst I'm not so diligent with my body scrubs I do use one every couple of weeks
and this is an area I want to improve on and make it a weekly inclusion, as I just love the way they make your skin feel.
After a good body exfoliation/scrub/polisher your skin feels so clean, soft, refreshed, invigorated and above all very smooth.
I thought I would share with you my Top 3 products that I swear by.
My preference has always been a scrub that is quite granular in formula, so they slough off those dead cells really effectively and that's why I adore using the 3 below and have re-purchased many, many times...
As always I will leave the Pink Links below, so you can read my original thoughts and opinions, which I do advise , so you get all the important product info.
*N.B. Prices may have changed since I wrote the original review*
1.
CLARINS
Tonic
Body Polisher
I reviewed this product way back and its been in my collection of Body scrubs ever since.
After use it leaves you with that feeling that you've just been to a wonderful Spa.
Packed with Essential Oils that not only promote a feeling of well being,
as they smell amazing, but more importantly help to both respect the
natural hydrolipidic film and nourish our skin post exfoliation.
The granules in this polisher are made up of a mixture of Sugar and Salt crystals
 from the Camargue region in the South of France.
This mixture is what eliminates those dead cells, whilst deep cleansing the skin
to reveal a smoother, brighter and more toned skin.
Sadly it doesn't fall into every ones beauty budget, as it is on the pricey side, but one to consider adding to your "Wish List" for a wonderful Spa like experience.
2.
CAUDALIE
Crushed Cabernet Scrub
This product had been on my "Wish List" for a couple of years and finally I got my
hands on one at the beginning of this year and it was well worth the wait.
As I said earlier I want my body scrubs to give a good invigorating exfoliation and the brown sugar and crushed grapes seeds do just that, however if you prefer the more gentle approach then just mix with more water to soften the exfoliation effect
Enriched with crushed grape-seeds and 6 essential oils, this natural body exfoliator
leaves the skin smooth, soft and nourished.
In many aspects this Caudalie scrub is very similar to the Clarins, so you can see the type of scrub that I gravitate towards, which may not be for everyone.
3.
RAIN
Biologie
Manketti + Starflower
 Body Scrub
This body scrub has been a constant in my beauty life since I first reviewed it
back in 2013.
The Manketti & Starflower Body Scrub with Wild Harvested Mongogo Nut Oil, Jasmine and Cedarwood not only smells divine, but with the exfoliating Poppy seeds suspended in the
various beneficial oils makes for a super exfoliating product.
 Again this product is very similar to the previous two, but this one comes with a more affordable pricing.
Let me know in the comments below if you also love any of the above.
CAUDALIE CRUSHED CABERNET SCRUB {REVIEW}
It's true to say that I'm currently a little obsessed with all things
Caudalie
This French Skincare brand has been on my beauty  "Wish List" for several years
now and finally after my last two overseas trips I am now the proud owner of not
one or two products, but literally around 12 Caudalie products.
I've even declared March Caudalie Month on my blog, so expect a glut of reviews.
Sadly we only have one Official retailer here in South Africa Skins Cosmetics and having bought a couple
of products there, it is obviously cheaper to purchase overseas,
but I didn't find the prices at Skins Cosmetics to be too exorbitant unlike
the 3rd retailer websites we have here in SA.
Here is some background to the brand...
The skin care brand Caudalie was founded by Mathilde Thomas and her husband Bertrand. The story starts in Bordeaux (France), at the heart of the vineyards on the family estate. The vine and grapes possess exeptional powers for the skin - powers which were simply waiting to be developed. 'Do you know that you are throwing away treasures?" This sentence changed Mathilde's life. It marks the meeting with Professor Vercauteren. He is one of the world's specialists in Polyphenols and has been the scientific advisor of the research centre since the creation of Caudalie. Ever since the brand was created, products were created with the maximum amount of natural ingredients that respect the environment. In 2006, Mathilde took the decision to remove parabens from all their products.
Armed with my Caudalie shopping list the
Caudalie Crushed Cabernet Scrub
was on the very top.
As with the face, a weekly or twice weekly body exfoliation is the key to
anti-ageing and it's a practise that I've performed for literally "10's" of years
and I never find it a chore, as I just adore the way your skin feels afterwards.
Crushed Cabernet Scrub
is Caudalie's signature Vinothérapie Spa scrub
and a day visit to their Spa in Bordeaux is on my bucket list and has been for
several years.
(it does help that my sister lives a 2 hour drive away making it more of a possibility)
Enriched with crushed grape-seeds and 6 essential oils, this natural body exfoliator
leaves the skin smooth, soft and nourished.
I want my body scrubs to give a good invigorating exfoliation and the brown sugar and crushed grapes seeds do just that, however if you prefer the more gentle approach
 then just mix with more water to soften the exfoliation effect.
This scrub does have that typical divine spa fragrance and these energizing and invigorating notes are naturally derived from lemon, lemongrass, rosemary and juniper berries.
The final inclusion of a good dollop of Honey helps this scrub to soften the skin
and replenish that all important Hydro Lipidic layer.
Apply twice a week to wet skin.
Warm the scrub in your hands and massage the whole body in circular motions from bottom to top until
the sugar has completely melted, then rinse.
As with all exfoliation products follow with a moisturising product.
This product contains 99% ingredients of natural origin.
And as with all Caudalie products, no parabens, phenoxyethanol, phthalates,
mineral oils or animal-derived ingredients are used.
Thankfully I wasn't disappointed with this body scrub at all and it lived up to all of my expectations.
I adore the packaging, the aesthetics of the product, the beautiful aroma and more importantly the polishing effects.
It reminded me very much of the Clarins Tonic Body Polisher, but even better.
I did review the Clarins Tonic Body Polisher back in 2017and it made it onto my
Top 3 Body Products of that year, so if you love that polisher then I'm sure you
will love this one from Caudalie just as much as I do...
