URBAN DECAY PERVERSION MASCARA {REVIEW}

Mascaras are one of my make-up weaknesses and I cannot deny it, especially
if you see how many I have reviewed and written about over the years of
writing my blog.

I added a new one to that list very recently in the form of the
URBAN DECAY
PERVERSION MASCARA

I find URBAN DECAY to be a make-up brand that I re-purchase from
the most, as it has several of my absolute favourite products.
If you would like to check out my previous UD reviews and which items
I highly recommend then click here

If you want bigger, blacker, badder lashes then this mascara is one to check out.
PERVERSION
is an intense black, ultra-creamy, lengthening and volumizing mascara that
glides on beautifully and is buildable, stroke after stroke.
All thanks to the inclusion of Hairdensyl, a complex blend of proteins and amino acids—including marine glycogen, known to stimulate lash growth and
honey extract to provide deep nourishment it nurtures the lashes.
The texture is not too dry, not too wet and allows just the right amount of
“pull” so it glides smoothly through lashes, which sadly I can't say about some
of the pricier mascaras on the market.
I liked the twisted trim on the high-tech, volumizing brush that latches on to
each lash to separate and define.
After several weeks of use now the formula hasn't become brittle and the brush
has stayed clean and not gone clumpy.
I would definitely recommend this long lasting mascara for ease of application, bolder and more voluminous lashes that don't smudge or flake.

This product is free from Parabens, Vegan and Cruelty Free.
There is a Waterproof variant available.

MY TOP 6 MAKE-UP PRODUCTS 2020,

My 2020 list of top make-up items seems to be dominated by
two brands, URBAN DECAY which is no longer available in South Africa,
and that makes me very sad, as they have a newly launched product that
I wanted to try, so it means more is going to be added to my
overseas shopping list,
which by the way is growing longer and longer, especially as travel has all but halted
for the last 10 months and doesn't seem to be on the cards anytime soon.
The other brand is BYTERRY and thankfully that's available exclusively
in store and online at Metro Cosmetics

I have kept this category very tight this year with only 6 of my absolute
cannot live without products appearing on this list.
In 2019 I included 10 faves as I really couldn't narrow 2019's list down.
If you would like to see what appeared on that list then click here

As always I will include the Pink Links for those that want to read my original
full reviews before making any purchases, especially on the more Luxe products.
I hope you find this post helpful...

1.

VITA LIBERATA
BEAUTY BLUR

This beauty blur is perfect for that flawless, natural, no make-up look and I'm
simply obsessed. It provided a great canvas for the application
of bronzer, blusher etc. and it's simply a "do it all" skin optimiser and without
doubt worthy of a beauty splurge.
The perfecting weightless formula glides on effortlessly, delivering a sheer tint
that miraculously covers and corrects the appearance of imperfections to
leave skin looking naturally radiant and I was blown away by how well it
worked even on my mature skin.
It was my go to product during lockdown and sadly its now finished, so
I predict yet another pricey purchase is on the cards.

2.

URBAN DECAY
STAY NAKED
CORRECTING CONCEALER

I cannot deny that I've been a HUGE fan of URBAN DECAY since its launch here
in South Africa a couple of years ago and sadly it hasn't been able to
"stay the course"
during COVID or survive in the notoriously difficult South African beauty arena.
Bottom line this is a good correcting concealer

Under advice I opted for 30NN a light neutral with a neutral undertone,
which seemed to be an ideal shade for my skin tone.
The Stay Naked concealer is a buildable, full coverage concealer that is
long wearing (up to 24hrs),waterproof and doesn't transfer.
I enjoyed that it had a breathable, flexible formula and didn't look cakey,
or dry despite giving a matte finish.
This is one of those concealers that will always be a permanent feature in
my wardrobe of concealers.

3.

BYTERRY
HYALURONIC HYDRA
FOUNDATION

BYTERRY products came into my life at the end of 2018 and my collection
has grown steadily over that time, as has my love for all things BYTERRY.
During 2020 I was lucky enough to add a product that had been on
my wish list or beauty radar since the start of 2020.

Promoted as hardworking, luminous and weightless, which I 100% agree with,
the Hyaluronic Hydra-Foundation floods skin with moisture, delivering
seamless coverage with an ultra-fine texture.
As I'm getting older I find myself gravitating more to a treatment foundation,
one that has skincare benefits combined with a more natural 2nd skin feel
and one that doesn't settle into my pesky lines and wrinkles and I think
BYTERRY have nailed it with this product.

4.

ZELENS
YOUTH GLOW
FOUNDATION

This was not a planned purchase, in fact I had never heard any
blogger/beauty editor talk about it and even though I knew of the brand,
this product was certainly not on my beauty radar.
I was introduced to the ZELENS YOUTH GLOW FOUNDATION by means
of a sample that was sent to me with my order of the BYTERRY foundation
above and the sample was enough to convince me
that this "Youth Glow" foundation was all it said it would be and more.

ZELENS Youth Glow Foundation is perfect for skins lacking luminosity and vitality or anyone who is concerned with visible signs of stress, dullness and loss of elasticity.
Provides long-lasting, natural light-to-medium coverage, it felt remarkably lightweight, yet nourishing on the skin and I kept catching glimpses of my skin in the mirror and couldn't help thinking how radiant and smooth my skin was looking and I
loved what I saw...
I'm happiest when skincare and colour combine in a product and this for me
 is my
 "Happy Product".

5.

BYTERRY
OMBRE
BLACKSTAR
COLOR-FIX CREAM
EYESHADOW

Whilst the BYTERRY Foundation was on my radar, this 2nd BYTERRY
product to make onto this list wasn't!
I was kindly sent this as a PR product and have gone onto order another
one in a different shade.

This easy-to-use (and it really is) eyeshadow pen contains Tahitian
black pearl extracts, allowing the stretchy formula to glide smoothly
and effortlessly onto eyelids in a single stroke.
The light reflecting formula brightens and lifts eyelids and as a mature
user I need all the help I can get, especially from eye products.
The two shades that I own are a perfect duo, as the lighter shade
provides a wash of colour over the eye area and the darker shade
is used to provide a darker line around the lash line.
They quite simply make applying eyeshadow a breeze, even for the novice.

6.

URBAN DECAY
PERVERSION
MASCARA

Mascaras are one of my make-up weaknesses and I cannot deny it, especially
if you see how many I have reviewed and written about over the years of
writing my blog.
The PERVERSION Mascara for URBAN DECAY seriously impressed me, as
its an intense black, ultra-creamy, lengthening and volumizing mascara that
glides on beautifully and is buildable, stroke after stroke.
It contains ingredients known to stimulate lash growth and provide deep nourishment for the lashes.
If you want bigger, blacker, badder lashes then the PERVERSION Mascara
 is one to check out.

Please let me know if any of these are also your favourite make-up products
as I would love to know.

MY TOP 5 MASCARAS {APRIL 2022}

I've been intending to write this post for some time now and today
I've finally done it!
I have updated my list of " Top 5 Mascaras ".
My last list was posted back in April 2019, so that list was long overdue an update
and here it is exactly 3 years later.
I have removed 3 mascaras from my previous 2019 "Top 5" and that doesn't
mean that they're not still good, it's just that I've discovered others.

MASCARA
what would we do without it, its a great invention and I wouldn't
be a happy bunny if mascara disappeared from my life, as I'm sure is the case
 for many of you.
Mascara helps to open up the eye area, as well as give the illusion of length, volume,
curl and thickness to short, sparse, straight and thin lashes.
We just love our mascaras, hence why we are constantly being bombarded with new
ones making a mascara purchase even more daunting.

I have chosen my top 5 based on what I personally require from a mascara
and of course your requirements may well be very different,
but after many years of
 "trial and error"
The below 5 form my current "Mascara Wardrobe".

I'm looking for a mascara that has a smallish brush (the brush is key for me)
feels good in my hand and is easy to wield around my sparse line up of lashes.
It must be black, non waterproof, non flake, non smudge and basically make my
own lashes look long, voluminous and glamorous, it must literally "do it all".

If I were to recommend only 2 brands that have, in my opinion, cornered the
mascara market then it has to be L'Oréal and Benefit and you really cannot
go wrong with any of their mascara offerings.

My list is in no particular order and I hope it helps you navigate the
"Mascara Maze" and I highly recommend that you click on the Pink Links
to read my full in-depth original reviews.
Please lease let me know
in the comment section below what your favourite mascaras are,
as I'm always on the hunt for new ones to review...

1.

L'ORÉAL
UNLIMITED MASCARA

When I originally reviewed this mascara it hadn't been launched in SA,
which meant I had to have a couple of back-ups at all times,
when I could get my hands on them overseas.
I'm happy to say that it's now readily available in L'Oréal stockists.
I just adore everything about this mascara and the added bonus is the angled
brush that makes mascara life so much easier, so if you're looking for
an affordable good all round black mascara that is easy to apply,
especially on those sparse awkward to reach lashes then this is
the one to consider.
This mascara deserves to stay on my Top 5 list, as it's everything I need
 from an everyday mascara.

2.

URBAN DECAY
PERVERSION MASCARA

This is a new addition to my list.
I find URBAN DECAY to be a make-up brand that I re-purchase
from often, as it has several of my absolute favourite products.
Sadly UD ceased its operations in South Africa a couple of years ago
and I also discovered that UD have ceased its operations in Turkey, as my
cosmetic mule recently found out when she couldn't find UD anywhere,
which sadly meant that my order of back-ups of my fave URBAN DECAY
 products didn't materialise.
PERVERSION MASCARA
is an intense black, ultra-creamy, lengthening and volumizing mascara that
glides on beautifully and is buildable, stroke after stroke.
I liked the twisted trim on the high-tech, volumizing brush that latches
on to each lash to separate and define..
I would definitely recommend this long lasting mascara for ease of
application, bolder and more voluminous lashes that don't smudge or flake.
So If you want bigger, blacker, badder lashes then this mascara is
certainly one to check out.

3.

FENTY BEAUTY
FULL FRONTAL
VOLUME LIFT & CURL MASCARA

Full Frontal is a lightweight, ultra black formula with an exclusive
flat-to-fat brush:
The FLAT side defines and curls and thanks to the round, pointed tip.
Use the FLAT side to comb through and define, curl, and separate.
The FAT side holds max product to quickly load and lift lashes.
Use the FAT side to load and lift, wiggling at the base of your lashes
 to build volume.
Full Frontal does build easily giving you plenty of playtime to layer,
define, separate and whatever it is you need to do to create the look
you want without being clumpy or thick on the lashes.
I found it to be long wearing, smudge proof, and water-resistant.
This mascara is without doubt, both prettily packaged and it
delivers on its claims, however it does come in quite pricey
However if you are a Rihanna devotee or not on a budget then this
 mascara won't disappoint.

4.

BENEFIT
BADGAL BANG
MASCARA

This is one of the 2 mascaras that have remained on my list from 2019 and to be fair
it is my absolute favourite mascara ever and has been so since I reviewed it back in
February 2019.
The mascara comes with a plastic streamlined flexible brush and it ensures that all
areas of lashes can be reached, which is essentially for those shorter corner lashes
and it was a breeze to apply.
It's a pitch black wet mascara, which I personally prefer, and one coat does make
a difference to lashes, but why stop at one when you can easily layer several coats
to create a bolder bigger lash.
So if you love your mascara to be big, bold and dramatic then
BAD gal BANG is the one for you...
 I just love it...

5.

CLARINS
WONDER PERFECT MASCARA

I have to say, the 4D in its name grabbed my attention and I was curious
as to what Clarins had to offer with this product.
This really is a do-it-all, all-in-one mascara that curls, defines, lengthens and volumizes for that bold wide-eyed look, hence the 4D name.
The intense carbon-black mineral pigments give a long wearing colour
whilst the inclusion of filmogenic Rose Wax ensures a long lasting hold.
The design of the precision sleek brush makes sure that no lash goes uncoated, which is so important for those of us with sparse lashes.
The wand is comfortable (a must for me) and lightweight in the hand.
After the first coat of mascara I was hooked, its buildable, doesn't flake or
smudge however being a moist/wet kinda mascara and considering the
curl and length it gives I did need to do a little cleaning up afterwards,
but it's worth it for the overall look and finish.

MY URBAN DECAY SALE HAUL {AUGUST 2020}

Monday is not a normal day for me to upload to my blog, but I had to let my fellow
beauty lovers know about this great offer.

I just couldn't resist the "call to shop" when I received a notification of a
 previously unheard of
URBAN DECAY
50 % Off
Everything Sale
(whilst stocks last)
The sale runs from 22nd August until 31st August 2020
but hurry...

There are 4 URBAN DECAY stand alone stores around the country:

Gateway
Menlyn
V&A
Sandton City

I popped into to my local UD store at Gateway on Saturday morning armed with
my shopping lists, so I thought I would share with you the products that I wanted replenishments
of and some that I wanted to try for the first time.

I'm a huge fan of URBAN DECAY and have reviewed many of their products and even though they're a little pricey I have not been disappointed with any to date.
I have included all of these 4 products below, either in my Monthly Favourites post
or my annual Top 10 Make-up Products of 2018 or 2019, so that speaks volumes.

I will include the Pink Links to my full reviews below and hopefully it helps guide
you to know what's worth buying and what's not.
I've also popped in the normal retail price and then the less 50% price.

Above are the products that I'm excited to have re-purchased and whilst some are
not yet finished and will go into a back up stash others have very recently finished.

HI-FI SHINE LIPGLOSS

This Mauve/Nude has been a favourite of mine and I do love me a good lip gloss,
so I'm happy to have this back into my life as my previous one came
 to an end during lockdown.
The shade that suits me the best is BACKTALK, so if you want all the info
on this product then check out my original full review.

VICE LIPSTICK

I've been very happy with the texture of the Cream VICE LIPSTICK that I've been
using in the shade VIOLATE, however I do personally find the UD Lipsticks
a bit of a minefield, as they have so many
shades and formulas to choose from, but if you like a more traditional
lipstick then you cannot go wrong with the cream formulation.

ALL NIGHTER
SETTING SPRAY

This is URBAN DECAYS most iconic product and one that I didn't know I needed
until I tried it and I think I'm on my 3rd one now,
so I was super excited to get a back-up of this must have product, especially
now as we're all wearing face masks, a couple of spritz's all over my face helps
to keep everything in place.

BROW ENDOWED
BROW PRIMER+COLOUR

This was my most recent discovery from UD and it was part of their new
brow collection that launched back in September 2019 and again this product
was coming to an end, so I'm more than happy to add this product back into my
make-up collection.
The shade I bought was Taupe Trap and it's a perfect shade for my pale brows.

Whilst I had my list of products to re-purchase I also had a list of products
that I had been considering buying and how could I not take advantage of the
less 50% sale and tick them off my list.

L-R

PERVERSION MASCARA

Lipsticks and mascaras are my most 2 purchased make-up items and I've heard
lots about the UD PERVERSION MASCARA, so I thought it was time to put this
lengthening & volumising mascara to the
Beauty Shout Box test and what better time than when its 50% off.
I will be posting my review on this product sometime in September.

R185

STAY NAKED
CORRECTING CONCEALER

Another product that I couldn't resist even though I have so many concealing
products, but how could I resist a concealer that promises to be:

Buildable
Stays 24hrs
Breathable
 Full Coverage
Flexible
Does Not Transfer
Real Skin Matte Finish
&
Waterproof

I took the shade 30NN, so I hope it lives up to all of the above.
Again my full review will be up during September, once I've had a chance to
fully test.

VICE LIPSTICK

Now I did say I really enjoy the formulation of the VICE LIPSTICK,
so much so I've bought another one. It wasn't actually on my shopping list and the
sales consultant suggested it to me. It was a shade that I had been looking for though
a sheer, natural, nude lipstick called shade Morning After, that can be worn over
 other lip shades or alone.
You've guessed it, check back in September, as I will include it in a QPR Post
