KIEHL'S NIGHTLY REFINING MICRO-PEEL CONCENTRATE {MINI REVIEW}

I have mentioned this so many times on my blog that I must sound like a stuck record, but exfoliation is the key to a good skin and I don't mean exfoliating once in a while, I mean religiously once a week, every week of every year.
It's the most instantly rewarding skincare product that you can invest in.

I have used exfoliators religiously since I was around 21years of age and whilst other steps in my skincare regime may have come and gone over the years my weekly smoothing, brightening scrub/peel/exfoliator has always remained a constant.

To be fair I have only been using a sample of the,
KIEHLS NIGHTLY REFINING MICRO-PEEL CONCENTRATE
which I know isn't ideal, but as I say in the title, it's a Mini Review.
I managed to squeeze two applications out of the sample.

Over the years I have had rather a love/hate relationship with Kiehl's products
I either absolutely love a product or literally hate it, so much so, that I haven't had such a relationship with a skincare brand like it before and don't forget I've had a lifetime career in beauty.
I have tried previously their kiehl's Over-Night Biological Peel and I didn't enjoy it, yet I have bought on several occasions their Kiehl's Epidermal Re-Texturizing Dermabrasion , which I can highly recommend, as it's a great product and one that I love. However lets put that aside and see if this product falls into the
"Love or Hatecategory.

This nightly micro-peel concentrate helps to refine the feel of rough texture and reveal newly radiant, refreshed skin and who doesn't want a more refined, radiant refreshed skin.
Yes this potent yet gentle chemical facial peel effectively exfoliates while you sleep.
Clinically-demonstrated to help accelerate surface skin cell turnover to reveal fresher, newly radiant skin, while visibly evening skin tone and refining the feel of rough texture over time.
For the first time in a facial skincare product, quinoa husk extract has been formulated into an anti-ageing overnight treatment.
    How to Apply:
This product is safe enough for nightly use.
Apply after cleansing & toning and before a concentrated serum.
Press concentrate into face until absorbed
    Follow with your nightly moisturiser.
I was somewhat surprised by the products runny consistency, so care needs to be taken on application and a little does go a long way.
Whilst it was easy to use and I just used it under my current night cream,
I did find it a little tacky and sticky, so just allow to dry before applying any other products over the top.
I can't say that I noticed any difference with the brightness or radiance, but
I did feel a slight smoothness to my skin, but to be honest, it didn't
    "Rock my Exfoliating World"
and with a hefty price of R820 this isn't an exfoliating product that I can rave about, so it seems like its another fail from me for this underwhelming peel.
That being said and to be fair to the product, I did only use it twice and I'm sure
with consistent use this product would perhaps perform better.

    SUNDAY SAMPLE

Being a great advocator of using a weekly peel/exfoliator/scrub I'm always on the hunt for something new, not that this
       KIEHL'S Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate
is new, but it's new to me.

This nightly micro-peel concentrate says it will refine the feel of rough texture and reveal newly radiant, refreshed skin and all whilst you sleep.
One of my favourite products from Kiehl's (I have several) just also happens to be a peel and it's their Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion
(N.B Prices and store locations in this review may have changed)
I will be trying out the Micro-Peel during the coming week, but I doubt that I can
me getting more than one application, at a push I may get two, so lets see.

    SUNDAY SAMPLE

I recently replenished some of my favourite KIEHL'S products and as always I came away with a selection of samples, so these two samples of Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream haven't been in my sample jar very long and these will be put to the test this week.

Whilst I'm not a daily user of BB creams
I have a couple that I love and do use on a regularly basis when a BB cream is called for, but I still remain a little sceptical about these multi tasking products and do they really deliver on all of the claims that the brands advertise.

KIEHL'S say that their Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream is more than a BB Cream, due to its dual-action formula, which instantly conceals imperfections with lightweight buildable coverage and visibly corrects the appearance of skin tone irregularities on a daily basis.
(Unfortunately I won't be able to comment on the latter claim from the use of a sample, as it would need far more than a few uses to review)

What does appeal to me though is the inclusion of Vitamin C and the high SPF of 50 and more importantly the word "Beautifying", so off I must go and start using the samples and I will report back to you on Sunday hopefully looking more beautified.....

    KIEHLS 20% OFF

I always say that I have a Love/Hate relationship with the American brand Kiehls...
I either "Love" a product or "Hate" a product.....
I wouldn't say that I really "hate" as that's a harsh word, its more a dislike for some of their product offerings.
After saying that, I do rate several of their products very highly and after being in the skincare and cosmetic business for the past 35 years I don't bestow praise or accolades to easily!

Being a brand that markets slightly differently with a "Try Before You Buy" concept and no Gift with purchase....I suggest that you don't miss out on the Kiehls 20% Off Promotion this weekend in South Africa and if you are not sure what to buy then read my reviews on some of my "best" picks from this brand.

    SUNDAY SAMPLE - KIEHLS SUNFLOWER COLOR PRESERVING CONDITIONER {REVIEW}

After many years of highlighting my hair, whilst at the same time ensuring that I kept it well conditioned to counteract the harsh chemical process, I found that it was starting to feel heavy and simply overloaded with oils etc, so I put my hair on a "Conditioner Detox".

Since its detox I have been very aware not to overload again with serums, masks and conditioning products.
For the past week I have been using from my Sunday Sample Jar

    The
    Kiehls Sunflower Color Preserving
    Conditioner

It was a very generous 30ml trial size and will last several washes I am sure.
Not one to use general hair products, I have always invested in Professional Salon Ranges and an investment they are, as they are never light on the wallet!
So what would this sceptic think of this hair product from Kiehl's?

    Kiehl's Sunflower Shampoo & Conditioner

I was happy to read that this product is formulated without Parabens,
is lightweight, silicone and sulphate free.
Designed to effectively protect color treated hair from becoming dull and dry, it also claims to leave your hair feeling conditioned and the color looking vibrant. It also protects and seals to maintain smooth, shiny hair for optimal manageability and styling without breakage.

Use in the usual way after shampooing (they do make a matching Sunflower Color Preserving Shampoo), rinse and apply a generous amount of conditioner to the hair, especially on the ends.
Gently work through and leave for 2-3 minutes and rinse in lukewarm water and style as normal.

    The key ingredients are:
Apricot Kernel oil, which has a very high Vitamin E content (helps with absorption)
    Sunflower Oils
A fortifying blend of Vitamin B6,B3 and B5
    UV Protective Filter

So it was all sounding very promising for my newly detoxed hair, but how did it perform
    after a couple of uses?

The fresh clean uplifting "summery" fragrance of the conditioner was amazing, so straight away it lifts your mood and it was easy to rinse and detangle my long highlighted hair.
After drying and styling I could feel the softness, yet I couldn't feel any product residue or coating, like some conditioning products, can leave behind.

I wouldn't say the product "wowed" me, I enjoyed using it and my my hair did feel good, but not as good as the comments that followed!
Never have I had so many comments about my hair in one day and non of the comments were prompted by me announcing the use of a new conditioner either!
I got various remarks ranging from "my hair looks shiny" "my hair looks smooth"
"my hair is looking good" and best of all one friend thought I had just been for my highlights.

Needless to say my somewhat sceptical views of non professional salon products
have been "dashed" as the comments speak for themselves.
I will monitor the ongoing results with the conditioner and may even try the matching shampoo.
    So watch this
    "I am a Convert"
    space.

Available from selected Edgars stores countrywide.

SUNDAY SAMPLE - KIEHL'S MIDNIGHT RECOVERY CONCENTRATE

    30mls R585

This past week I have been using a sample of the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate.I think I must be the only person, not to have tried and reviewed this brands top selling product.
Its claimed that this elixir works all night to replenish the skin with moisture and leave you with younger-looking, smoother, softer more radiant skin by the morning and who doesn't want younger looking skin?
To be used on a clean skin in the evening I found this elixir to be readily absorbed and literally a couple of drops was all my skin needed. It's advised to gently use your fingertips to press the clear serum evenly over the cheeks, forehead, and chin before massaging. This product can be worn alone or under your normal night cream. Having tried it both ways I prefer to use it alone, as I found it to be enough comfort and moisture for my skin.
Enriched with a blend of naturally derived ingredients including Squalane, Evening Primrose Oil, Omega-6 Fatty Acids and Essential Oils including Lavender, all help to deliver a boost of intensive moisture especially to dehydrated and tired looking skins.
Whilst it was an easy to use product with a pleasant fragrance, I did notice that my skin felt softer and more hydrated, I can't say that my skin looked any younger, but then I think it would take more than a couple of nightly drops, over the course of a week, for a "midnight recovery" of my mature 50+ skin.

Oh well! Onwards I go in my quest to find that miracle serum that delivers younger skin overnight!

This product is Paraben-Free and contains 99.8% naturally derived ingredients and for a serum is well priced, especially as a little goes a really long way.

Kiehl's is available at selected Edgars

    KIEHL'S CUCUMBER HERBAL ALCOHOL-FREE TONER {REVIEW}

Last week I pulled out of the Sunday Sample jar a generous 40ml sample size of Kiehl's Cucumber Herbal Alcohol-Free Toner. Recently I did a review on the BioNike Defence Toning Lotion and experienced more than a tingle around my nose and on my cheek area, so I was a little apprehensive about trying another new toner, yet the words Cucumber, Herbal and Alcohol Free in the name, put my mind at ease.
I was happy to see that this Kiehl's toner has a mild, alcohol-free formulation, enriched with naturally-derived herbal extracts, refreshes the skin and delivers a mildly astringent benefit and is also suitable for sensitive skin.

I have always gravitated to alcohol free toners for as long as I can remember, not because I have a sensitive skin, but I really don't see the need for this ingredient to be included in products, even those for oily skins. The alcohol can not only aggravate sensitive skins, but also can have a drying effect and cause an imbalance with the natural hydro lipidic film on our skin, so I just avoid it especially in toners.

The toner is a cool green colour and has a slight nondescript fragrance and contains soothing allantoin, softening and soothing Aloe Vera, moisture binding cucumber fruit extract and astringent Witch Hazel.....the same ingredient that I believed caused the problem with the BioNike toner.

I am happy to report that this toner was a pleasure to use and my skin after cleansing felt refreshed and prepared for the next stage in my skin care regime.
The next question I asked myself was, would I buy this toner and my reply would be no and that's not through any poor performance of the product, but it has more to do with the price, especially as am on a quest to find reasonably priced toners to review. If you are a Kiehl's fan and price is of no issue, then yes I would recommend that you keep to the recommended routine, but I personally feel there are other highly efficient alcohol free soothing toners out there at a cheaper price, allowing you to invest more on treatment products.

    SUNDAY SAMPLE

I am not sure what happened with this weeks Sunday Sample as I remember some time back using this toner, but somehow it's back in my Sample jar...anyway here goes and I will report back on Sunday with my opinion on this generous sample of the Kiehl's Cucumber Herbal Alcohol-Free Toner.

    SUNDAY SAMPLE KIEHL'S CREME DE CORPS {BODY CREAM }

I have tried a couple of Kiehls products before, the one was a "hit" with me
and the other unfortunately was a "miss".
Kiehls adopt a great marketing strategy of "try before you buy" by the way of sampling, hence my review this Sunday is of the Creme de Corps (body cream) which I received when I bought my Epidermal Re-Texturizing
    Micro-Dermabrasion last year.

(Sampling allows you to smell, feel and experience the product in the comfort of your own home prior to buying. Often the one or two applications in a sample is sufficient for you to decide whether its compatible with your skin or not, especially if you have sensitivity issues, so with this in mind, it is unreasonable to expect to see great results after a couple of applications from a sample. You may have noticed that I never review a face skincare product from my Sunday Sample jar, as in my opinion a fair review can only be given after a minimum of a months usage)

The reason I am outlining the aim of sampling, is that it states on the back of the
Creme de Corps sachet "with continued use for 10 days will provide a
    skin texture heretofore unattainable",
so my review is only based on the 2 applications from the sample.

    Kiehl's Creme de Corps 500ml

Of all the body moisturizers that Kiehl's have on offer, the Kiehl's Creme de Corps is the most hydrating "all over" body moisturizer and they claim its enriched with the
finest ingredients known to Kiehl's for a rich elegant skin texture.
It is therefore best suited for an extremely dry or flaking skin,
which I have to admit I only suffer from very occasionally
(thanks to my obsession with weekly exfoliation any flakiness is removed)

Immediately upon application of this yellow cream I noticed a lack of any fragrance, which I prefer. Also I was  pleasantly surprised that even though they claim it to be a rich cream, I didn't find it to be rich in texture like many body creams that I have tried, yet it was rich in its nourishing and moisturizing capabilities. Initially upon application it felt a little greasy, but that soon disappeared and left my skin soft, smooth and beautifully moisturised.

All things considered, for me... this is another "hit" from Kiehl's after only 2 applications.

This is a premium body cream and is available in 3 sizes
The 500ml size comes with the pump dispenser and works out to be the
    most economical size.
    Available from Selected Edgars stores.
