RECENT EMPTIES {SEPTEMBER 2022}

My last Recent Empties post was a little over a month ago and here
is another, as several of the products that I have been using have all
come to an end at the same time.
As you can see from the photo below I have gone through another
regular that often appears on my Recent Empties post
and the other 3 products are all making their 1st time appearance.

1.
ELGYDIUM
PLAQUE & GUMS
TOOTHPASTE

This toothpaste was a real throwback for me, as I used to work for
ELGYDIUM way back in the day and it was a great toothpaste
back then and it still is today.
Whilst this French toothpaste brand doesn't fall into the
"budget" category at R64.99 a pop, it does help to look for
 the 3 for 2 promotions.
I was kindly gifted this along with another variant.
With chlorhexidine and calcium carbonate, ELGYDIUM Anti-plaque
toothpaste effectively prevents the build-up of dental plaque every day.
It also helps protect against tartar and gum irritation.
Not the easiest of products to review but I have been enjoying both
and I am looking to try their Whitening variant next.

2.
URIAGE
WATERPROOF
EYE MAKE-UP REMOVER

Some months ago I was needing an eye make-up remover and I
opted for the URIAGE Waterproof Eye Make-Up Remover, not that I
wear very much waterproof eye make-up, but it's a bi-phase formula,
which I generally enjoy.
This product can also be used to remove lipstick and cleanse the lips.
Whilst it does remove eye make-up and mascara
quickly and super easily it does leave behind a film of grease, which I
personally didn't enjoy, however this
was quickly remedied with a wipe over of a micellar water pad,
a step by the way that's never needed with any of my other bi-phase
eye make-up removers.
That being said, if you don't mind the extra step, this is excellent
remover and I'm sure it would make easy work of all types of waterproof
eye make-up, especially mascaras and stubborn lipstick.
I would re-purchase, but not at the moment as they are more
removing products that I must first.

3.
CHANEL
LES BEIGES
WATER FRESH TINT

This is another one of those products that was making me more sad
with every use, not because it's a bad product, but rather because
it's nearing the end.
It's like no other product that I have ever tried and whilst it offers zero
 coverage it does reveal a radiant, healthy, glowing and hydrated complexion
and I absolutely love everything about this product,
with just one exception...THE PRICE!
I have maybe a couple more applications before it's completely finished.
This was a splurge and one that I have loved and I'm sure I will
re-purchase at some point.

AVÈNE
Eau Thermale

I have mentioned it several times in previous empties posts.
This thermal spring water spray from Avène has been part of my beauty
 life for many years and it's still the best water spray to calm and soothe
the skin or to just refresh the skin during the hot days, hence why I
go through so many.
If you haven't tried this product yet I highly suggest you add it to
your beauty regime.

RECENT EMPTIES {APRIL 2021}

 This is my 2nd Recent Empties post of 2021, so I think it's
fair to say that I am getting better with saving my empty beauty products.
Today I have 6 empties 2 of which I have mentioned in past empties post,
but I wanted to mention them again as they're products I use all the time.

1.
AVÈNE
Eau Thermale

This is an "oldie but goldie" and I have mentioned it several times in
 previous empties posts.
This thermal spring water spray has been part of my beauty life
for many years and it's still the best water spray to calm and soothe
the skin or to just refresh the skin during the hot days, hence why I
go through so many.
If you haven't tried this product yet I highly suggest you add it to
your beauty regime.

2.
BY TERRY
BLACKSTAR
EYE LINER

I purchased this BYTERRY eyeliner during lockdown last
year and sadly it's finished already, which I'm a little surprised at, especially
as I haven't been wearing eye make-up everyday.
Whilst I enjoyed this product I doubt I would repurchase
based on the simple fact that I just love my favourite of many years the
STILA Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner.
This liquid liner is, in my opinion, the best liquid eye liner out there.
 The STILA liner definitely lasts way longer than the BYTERRY

3.
WHITE BARN
ROSE WATER & IVY
GENTLE FOAMING HAND SOAP

White Barn products are available at Bath&Body Works and not having
a B&BW here in South Africa I was able to pick up several liquid soaps
in Dubai back in early 2020.
This liquid hand soap smells amazing and it will be added to my
overseas shopping list for sure, when we can finally get to travel again.
I haven't actually reviewed this product on my blog, so here is a mini review.
This Gentle Foaming Hand Soap with natural essential oils combines nourishing vitamin E with softening shea extract & aloe to deliver a rich luxurious
 rose fragranced foam that gentle washes hands clean.
 Having used liquid hand soaps for 20 or more years this is possibly
my all time favourite.

4.
URBAN DECAY
ALL NIGHTER
MAKE-UP SETTING SPRAY

I've also included this setting spray in a previous empties post, as it
has become a permanent fixture in my life.
Sadly URBAN DECAY are no longer available in South Africa, luckily
I did manage to buy a couple of back-ups, but unfortunately I have been
going through them so much quicker than normal due to wearing face masks.
It really does help to set and fix make-up in place ensuring
that less comes off on the inside of my face mask.

5.
GATINEAU
GENTLE SILK TONER

I finished this toner many months back and I've only just found the
empty container now, so better late than never.
I enjoy GATINEAU products and this toner compliments the
Gentle Silk Cleanser well and makes a good cleansing and toning duo.

6.
JO MALONE
WOOD SAGE & SEA SALT
Cologne

I have a couple more spritzes left in my bottle and as always a 30ml
size didn't last too long with me, considering that I just love this fragrance
 so much and its been my go to all summer.
The 100ml size is a better option value wise, so its on my shopping
list, as I really can't be without. In the meantime I've switched to my
 other fave JO MALONE fragrance Earl Grey & Cucumber Cologne.

EAU THERMALE AVÈNE THERMAL SPRING WATER {REVIEW} #TBT

I have lost count, as to how many of these Avène Thermal Spring Water sprays
I have used over the past 4-5 years.
Its been a constant in my beauty regime and I really can't see it ever not being.
They now have a selection of sizes available from a perfect 50ml handbag size
up to the giant 400ml option and I have them all.

Avène is perhaps my most recommended French skincare brand, whenever you guys
send me a DM or e.mail asking me for advice on skincare products.
If you would like to read more reviews on Avène products then Click Here

Since originally writing this review back in 2016 we do have a far wider selection
of similar products available in South Africa and I recently wrote a blogpost
on my Top 3 Facial Waters

~~~~~~
This seems to be the perfect time of the year to tell you how much I am loving the
Thermal Spring Water Spray from the French brand Avène
This French face,body and suncare brand is a familiar sight on the shelves of pharmacies in France and Europe,
 but relatively new to us here in South Africa, as it was only launched, in the early part of 2015,exclusively to Clicks
(Since 2016 available at selected Dischems countrywide)
This lovely video introduces you to the Avène story.
The star product in the Eau Thermale Avène range is the
Eau Thermale Avène Thermal Spring Water and I believe one is sold every
10 seconds, which just goes to prove how loved this product is around the world.
Avène Thermal Spring Water Spray 150mls R169.95
Natural Spring Water sprays for use on the skin are by no means a new discovery and overseas you will find a larger selection available, unlike South Africa, which actually amazes me as this type of product suits our climate and lifestyle perfectly.
Avène Thermal Spring Water Spray is particularly recommended for sensitive, hypersensitive, intolerent,
allergic or irritated skin.
It not only hydrates, soothes and comforts the skin, but it cools and refreshes, especially if you keep the spray in the fridge. Great to calm the skin and reduce redness and it can be a great asset for use after facial surgery, shaving, waxing, sunburn and can even be safely used on nappy rash.
My spray has been reached for on so many occassions during the holidays, as I just love to spritz my face during the hot days and this anti-irritating product won't interfere with my SPF or disturb my make-up. I have even got into the habit of doing a quick spritz post make-up.
Many years ago when I was training to be a beauty therapist in the UK we were encouraged to have weekend jobs in salons. I worked for a couple of years in a busy salon that also had a sunbed.
In the beginning my job was to clean down the sunbed, straighten the cubicle and explain to the clients the do's and don'ts and set the timer for their session to begin.
One nice touch that was available in the cubicle was a very large pink can of Evian Water Facial Spray and a bottle of Clarins "Corps Soyeux" (as it was called in those days) and I would encourage clients to spray the Evian, if they felt hot and to use the body lotion after their sunbed session,
Oh my how things have changed.
This was my first introduction to Clarins and Evian and my first chance to sell...and guess what I was really good at it, selling the smaller Evians' for handbag and home use and the Clarins Body Lotion for maintaining that tan, it was for me an easy "add on" to the clients sunbed course, as they were both wonderful beneficial products.
Evian is just one of the many brands of natural facial water sprays available overseas and as you can see even 30 years ago these types of facial sprays formed part of a good skincare routine for many in the UK and Europe, but unfortunately not here in South Africa hence the limited selection available.
 For many years, even after moving to South Africa I continued to use the French Evian Spray, which was available in South Africa and then sadly it disappeared off the market, so personally I'm very happy to have discovered the
Avène Thermal Spring Water Spray!
I will also be reviewing three more Avène skincare products in the near future.
RECENT BEAUTY EMPTIES {APRIL 2020}
Since posting my last recent empties back in the middle of February I have
sadly finished  3 skincare products and it will come as no surprise
that I would highly recommend them all...
As always click on the Pink Links below for more detailed product info.
*Please note that some prices may have changed from the ones advertised
in my original reviews*
 1.
The StriVectin
Advanced Glow
I must admit my skin and I are missing its daily swipe over with this toner.
I really do miss the gentleness and the softness of this product, since reverting
back to another daily "Glow" type toner.
You will find all the product details, plus my thoughts on this StriVectin Gem
2.
Avène
Thermal Spring Water
I'm not sure if I have ever included the Avène Thermal Water spray in a
"Recent Empties" post before, but I have used so many over the last 6 or 7 years,
that I feel that in itself, speaks volumes about this natural soothing, calming,
Thermal Water spray.
Needless to say it's a "must Have" skincare product for me and the family and I
wouldn't like to be without one.
However I do find now find myself without one due to the COVID 19 lockdown.
3.
ELEMIS
Rehydrating
Rosepetal Cleanser
My original review included both the ELEMIS Cleanser and the Rehydrating Ginseng Toner.
Being a cleansing milk kinda girl, I thoroughly enjoyed this cleanser and particularly
the pump dispenser, which without doubt helps you to control the amount used.
Ideal for dry, mature and dehydrated skins it was everything I expected from
a premium skincare brand and didn't disappoint in any way.
MONTHLY FAVOURITES - JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2016
I didn't do a Monthly Favourites post in January due to the fact that I was posting
my "Faves" of 2015 and if you missed them, then just click on the links below to catch up.
Here are my combined "faves" of the past two months.
Enjoy!
~~~~~~

1.

I have been using my Stila All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner for a few months now, but I only managed to write and post my review in February.

~~~~~~
2.
I was sent this Boombastic Mascara from GOSHCOPEHAGEN to try and upon receiving I was a little put off by the colour of the packaging and immediately thought this was a mascara aimed at the "younger" market...Silly me as I really like the mascara and even the colour has grown on me...
~~~~~~

3.

The Avene EauThermale Spring Water Spray has become a part of my daily beauty regime and my can is nearly finished, so another purchase is on the cards soon.

4.

The L'Occitane Citrus Verbena Edt has been my everyday fragrance for Summer 2015/2016 and I get so many lovely comments about my fragrance, literally on a daily basis, which is always a good sign.
Here in Durban it's a perfect all year round fragrance and thats what I intend to do
-wear it all year round.
