MAYBELLINE LASH SENSATIONAL SKY HIGH MASCARA {REVIEW}

I'm not a fan of Maybelline mascaras ever since I had a reaction to
one many years ago, I also didn't enjoyed the much raved about
Colossal Volume Mascara and their Falsies Volume Mascara.
Putting those aside I had to try their recently launched and super
hyped mascara
Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara

Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara is a mascara that grants
 incredible lash length and volume.
This washable formula is both easy to apply and buildable, ideal to highlight
 your eyes with long-wearing intensity.

The silicone brush, which I love, is precise and allows for both a quick
 and effortless application that reaches every single lash, even my
most shortest.
Exclusive Flex Tower mascara brush bends to volumize and extend
 every single lash from root to tip.

Apply as many lightweight coats as you like until you achieve the desired look,
as this mascara is buildable.
Each application coats the lashes with endless and long lasting
intensity and drama.

The formula doesn't flake or smudge and is easy to remove.
Featuring bamboo extract, fibers and also precious oils, the mascara
 contributes to long, full and healthy lashes.

Equally important, the formula is allergy and ophthalmologist tested
and is suitable even for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

This mascara for me is a winner and it will go straight onto
my list of Top 5 Mascara List.
I recently (April 22) updated my Top 5 Mascaras and here is the
 link if you want to check out which others I love and recommend

BEAUTY PRODUCTS CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW {OCTOBER]

Here we are at the beginning of October and we only have
3 months left of 2022 and I can't believe it.
Here are the 3 products that will be under review in the coming weeks.

I have a body lotion from a fave brand of mine AVÈNE, a mascara
from a not so fave brand of mine MAYBELLINE and an exfoliating treatment
 from a brand that I am aware of but, have never tried anything from
 before and that's
SUNDAY RILEY

All of these reviews will be a quick turn around and should be
posted very soon.

L-R

1.

SUNDAY RILEY
GOOD GENES

This was an inclusion in 2021's John Lewis Advent calendar
and I've been waiting to open and try this.
Good Genes is a deeply exfoliating treatment that reveals
instant glowing and radiant skin, whilst plumping the lines
and wrinkles.
I do love a good exfoliating product hence my excitement to
put this to use.

2.

AVÈNE
XERACALM

I have supported Avène for facial products for several years
and I recently had to call on their expertise with regards to a body
 skin issue that I haven't suffered from previously.
I will put this lipid replenishing balm to the test and as always
report back with my opinion.

3.

MAYBELLINE
SKY HIGH
MASCARA

 This mascara was launched recently in South Africa and I've read some
 very good reviews, so I couldn't NOT buy one to try and review
despite, not being a previous fan of Maybelline mascaras.

MAYBELLINE DREAM URBAN COVER FOUNDATION {REVIEW}

This was another product that I received via my cosmetic mule prior to Christmas
 i.e. my London Kiddiewink, as its not available in South Africa.

The
MAYBELLINE
Dream Urban Cover
Flawless Coverage Foundation
reminded very much of the IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream
firstly because of its packaging,
 but there are also many similarities with the foundation functions and benefits.

Having reviewed the IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream several years ago I was keen to
put the Dream Urban Cover to test and I will compare the two in a future post for you

Launched back in early 2019
makeup meets skincare with the NEW Dream Urban Cover all-in-one protective foundation. Maybelline's first full coverage foundation with a lightweight, barely there feel combined with SPF 50 broad spectrum physical sunscreen.

Product Benefits & Features:
  • Enriched with anti-oxidants: Vitamin E, Vitamin B3 & baicaline
  • Helps to form a protective shield against pollution
  • Full coverage foundation
  • Dermatologist tested.

    Suitable sensitive skin.
    Non-comedogenic.
    Clinically tested to lock in moisture.

  • Despite having this product since mid December I've only really got into using it
    over the last couple of weeks and it was certainly put to the test during my holiday
    last week in Dubai.

    This foundation is best suited for normal/dry skin types and despite having a
    medium/full coverage it has an extremely lightweight, breathable
    and comfortable feel.

    The fluid formula made for a super quick application that was easy to blend
    and was buildable if needed.
    However I was not prepared for such a flawless natural looking finish.
    I happily found it to be long wearing and still looked good at the end of an 8 hour
     day of walking around the sights of a busy Dubai.

     The Broad Spectrum SPF50 was well and truly tested, as I forgot to apply our sunscreens
    on the one occasion and despite my hubby getting sunburnt on his face, mine
    showed no signs of sun exposure whatsoever.
    Its always recommended to apply a sunscreen under foundation even if your foundation contains an SPF, rather double up and thankfully on this day it was the foundation's
     SPF that saved my skin.
    If you live in a highly polluted city then multi tasking foundations with built-in
    protective pollution shields are always a welcome addition.

    The shade selection is fairly good, offering over 20 shades and I took somewhat
    of a risk and went for the shade 220 Natural Beige and luckily it's a perfect
    shade for my colouring.

    I will write a comparison post between this foundation and the
     IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream soon, but for now I was suitably impressed with the
    Dream Urban Cover foundation, especially more so, as I'm not generally
    a huge fan of Maybelline products.
    If however a high SPF in a natural finish foundation is your major concern then
    I can highly recommend...

    BEAUTY PRODUCTS CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW {FEBRUARY 2020}

    On the one hand January seems to have been one looong month, but on the other
    it doesn't seem so long ago that I was writing my first "Currently Under Review"
    of the year and here I am busy compiling my second.

    1.

    GATINEAU
    FLORACIL
    GENTLE EYE MAKE-UP REMOVER

    This is a re-visit for me, as I used Gatineau's Floracil Eye Make-up Remover
     back in the day the brand was called Jeanné Gatineau.
     I not only used this product for many years, I also worked as a rep for the brand.
    I remember this eye make-up remover as being not only gentle, but very efficient.
    I do hope this remover is as good as I remember.

    2.

    FIRST AID BEAUTY
    FACIAL RADIANCE PADS

    This tub of FAB Radiance Pads were an inclusion in my recent
    Beauty Advent Calendar
    and as I'm a great believer in exfoliating and peeling products I'm looking
    forward to putting these to the test.

    3.

    MAYBELLINE
    DREAM
    URBAN COVER
    FOUNDATION

    Not yet launched in South Africa I had my son being this over for me
     in December. I hope the shade is correct as there are several in this foundation
    range to choose from.
    If I'm not mistaken this is the first foundation from MAYBELLINE that I've tried.
    I was drawn to it as many have made the comparison between this foundation
    and the IT COSMETICS CC+ CREAM SPF 50 which I have reviewed
     It wasn't love at first sight with this product, as I felt it was too much coverage
     and quite a thick cream, however I did fall in love and highly rate it,
    so it will be interesting to see how if this MAYBELLINE compares.

    4.

    JULIETTE HAS A GUN
    "IN THE MOOD FOR OUDE"

    I was recently sent this fragrance, so I thought I would review
    during Valentines Month.
    Not a mainstream fragrance brand and one that I had to do some research on.
    JULIETTE HAS A GUN
    is available exclusively at Metropolitan Cosmetics in Johannesburg and I'll
    bring you more info on this brand with my review of the fragrance early next week.

    5.

    VITA LIBERATA
    BEAUTY BLUR

    VITA LIBERATA is the "crème de la crème" range when it comes to all things
     "Self Tan" related and this newly launched "Beauty Blur" has been on my Wish List
    for some months.
    I was fortunate to receive a 10ml tube in a LOOKFANTASTIC subscription
    Beauty Box that was sent to me as a free gift with an order back in November and again
    my "London Kiddiewink" was my cosmetic mule.
    I couldn't believe my luck when I opened the surprise box and found this generous
     sample size of the Beauty Blur product to try.

    FRIDAY FOLLOW-UP {APRIL 2019}

    Shock and Surprise
    here's another Friday Feedback post making this two for 2019.
    I would really like to do these posts on a more regular basis, as it updates you on any previous product reviews that I've posted.
    The updates may include "The Good, The Bad" and of course "The Ugly", as with continued use my opinions on some products can change for various reasons.

    The Living Proof Restore Hair Mask Treatment  is one such product where
    I have done an almost 360 degree turn on.

    Having featured it in a Sunday Sample post, as it was a deluxe sample that I tried,
    I continued to use for several more weeks after my initial review and with each use I have just fallen in love more and more with this mask, so much so its been added to my
    UK Shopping List.
    The "jury is still out" with regards to the hair strengthening claim, but based on
    the condition of my hair and the fact that I have been using a hair mask weekly and my hair doesn't feel overloaded with product... is a good sign.
    If you want to know all the details on this hair mask then check out my original review

    ~~~~~~~
    One of my fairly recent product reviews was on the Maybelline Instant Anti Age Eraser
    and whilst I liked it, I couldn't see what all the hype was about, as in my opinion there were far better concealers out there.
    My one concern was the sponge applicator that had to be clicked round to dispense
    which seemed a "faff" but it really didn't bother me after a while.
    Also the sponge applicator didn't crumble or become "gross", as I first anticipated.
    Another cool feature of this concealers packaging, which you only see with continued use,  it appears that every drop is used, as you can see exactly how much is left in the glass bottle, as the sides are perfectly clean of the product.
    I would love to see other brands adopt some of this packaging technology.
    What I have also experienced with use, is that I'm going through this concealer fairly quickly.
    With regards to performance it still settles into the lines under my eye area, but its become one of my "go to" concealers for my everyday barely there make-up look.
    MAYBELLINE INSTANT ANTI AGE ERASER {REVIEW}
    Every now and then I find myself being drawn to a beauty product that I wouldn't
    normally look at and its generally due to other bloggers/influencers raving about it.
    Maybelline Instant Anti-Age Eraser Concealer
    was one such product where the hype proceeded its appearance here in South Africa.
    I've been hearing about this product for what seems like an age, so
    I recently buckled under social media pressure and purchased one.
    I feel duty bound here to inform you that all previous "pressure" purchases have
    not ended well and I hope this doesn't end up being featured in any upcoming
    blogpost...
    "Products I Regret Purchasing"
    or
    "Products I Didn't Finish and Why".
    Concealing products are a little like mascaras, as they're both "huge" business
    for the cosmetic companies.
    We as consumers are constantly replacing these two items, hence we're always being
    drawn in by the claims that X,Y,Z performs better than the one before etc. etc.
    As you can imagine over a life long career in cosmetics and beauty I have
    tried so many concealers and having gone through the cover spots and blemishes
    phase, to pigmentation during pregnancy phase I'm now at a new cover and conceal phase.
    I'm now looking for a product that will cover and conceal dark circles
     and shadows under my eyes and I have to say that
    my favourite brand when it comes to concealing is
    benefit as they have all of my concerns literally covered.
    Lets see what the Maybelline Instant Anti Ageing Eraser has to offer.
    Immediately I'm excited by the name choice, as who doesn't want to
    Instantly Erase signs of Ageing?
    I know I do and this concealer is specifically for concealing dark circles and giving
    much needed radiance to the under eye area.
    Let me first deal with the packaging, which I personally found highly irritating
    from the onset, as you have to keep clicking round the top plastic section in order
    to dispense the actual product onto the sponge applicator.
    After saying that, the sponge applicator glides effortlessly over the skin and the
     product is easy to blend.
    However with use the sponge applicator becomes, for the want of a better word,
     "Gross".
    *Maybelline do say that The Eraser Eye is protected with an anti-microbial system.
    Do not wet applicator. Wipe off excess eye concealer with dry tissue only.*
    Seriously! what a "faff"
    (I'll refrain from showing you pics of the sponge applicator after several weeks use)
    What Maybelline have to say:
    Instant Age Rewind® Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer.
    "This concealer for dark circles and fine lines instantly creates a radiant,
    refreshed looking eye area. Infused with goji berry and Haloxyl™.
    I enjoyed the ease of using this product and the shade match (Fair) was good
    for my skin tone.
    On the concealing front I thought it performed reasonably well and it did
    brighten the under eye area thanks to the perfecting coloured pigments,
    but on me, I found that the concealer, with wear, settled into the
     fine lines under my eyes (not a good look),which doesn't
    generally happen with my other concealers, whether they be budget or high end.
       Based on this short coming and the awful condition of the sponge with use,
    I personally wouldn't buy again, but I can understand why this concealer is popular.
    I'm pleased to inform you that this product won't be included in any future posts namely :
    "Products I Regret Buying"
    or
    "Products I Didn't Finish and Why"
