L'OREAL AGE PERFECT CLEANSING MILK {#TBT REVIEW}

This review dates back to July 2017 and as you will see I didn't take too well to this cleanser and I do believe its had a product rename and perhaps a formulation tweak, but it still wouldn't persuade me to re-visit this cleanser.

It also has reminded me to sort out the beauty products that I haven't finished over the past year or so and write another post on "Products I haven't Finished & Why", so expect this type of post soon.

*I have adjusted the price below as of 11/2020*

~~~~~~
On my quest to find good "Budget" priced cleansers I recently picked this product up from the L'Orèal skincare section of my drugstore and even though I've seen it on the shelves for sometime now, I've just never gotten around to popping one into my basket until the other day...
L’ORÉAL PARIS Laboratories have created the AGE PERFECT range for women with mature skin, aged 50 years and over, so luckily I just qualify to use...
The Age Perfect skin care line has been formulated for mature skin and includes cleansers, oils, serums, creams, and lotions, so you can get anti-aging benefits in every step of your skincare routine. Everything from the Age Perfect eye creams to the SPF lotions, moisturize, help reduce the effects of aging and restore healthy skin.
My first criticism of the L'ORÈAL AGE PERFECT CLEANSING MILK is not about the product but rather its packaging, despite the L'Oreal make-up range having a very upmarket look and feel the skincare in my opinion, has a disappointing cheap plastic presentation and therefore it makes me question the quality and efficiency of the contents that lie within...
This white creamy milk cleanser does have a luxurious feel and consistency and a pleasant delicate clean fragrance, but I'm sorry to say... this is where my praise of this product ends.
The AGE PERFECT Cleansing Milk contains Magnesium to cleanse the skin and Vitamin C to help re-energise. Whilst it cleanses perfectly well on a skin with no make-up, it really doesn't cope well with removal of foundation etc. and it actually took me 3 cleanses to remove all traces of make-up and to ensure that my skin was perfectly clean.
I found this cleanser to have an unpleasant oily texture that seemed to glide over the surface of the skin rather than cleanse, but perhaps this is a formulation feature to not drag and pull a weakened mature skin.
Sadly this cleanser just didn't do it for me...
MY TOP 10 MAKE-UP PRODUCTS 2019
For me 2019 was a busy year for make-up, so much so, that I've decided to
increase my annual Top 5 to a Top 10 Make-Up Products post.
Despite having a mixed bag of brands, products and price points I highly recommend
all of these items below.
As always the Pink Links will take you to the full reviews
~~~~~

Let's start with foundations, as that seems like a good place to begin, I
 discovered one at the beginning of the year and one towards the end.

L'ORÉAL
INFAILLIBLE 24H FRESH WEAR
 FOUNDATION

L'Oréal have been a favourite of mine for foundations for many years and several
have been featured on my Top lists in previous years.
This was a foundation that I bought in error, but it turned out to be a very good error.
L'Oréal just don't create any bad foundations and if it's a new affordable foundation you're looking for then look no further than the L'Oréal isle in the drugstore.
It offers a long wearing, full coverage, dewy, hydrated and fresh finish and has been
my go to on most days.

GIORGIO ARMANI
 LUMINOUS SILK FOUNDATION

 What started out as using a free 7 Day free sample of the led to me saying that I personally wouldn't pay R800 for a foundation eventually
resulted in a purchase with a less 25% from one of the overseas online beauty sites.

The formula offers an extremely comfortable long wearing,
weightless and luminous natural finish to the skin.
It honestly feels like silk on the skin and I couldn't fault it other than on price.
I also found that once my 7 day sample had finished I missed not having this
foundation in my make-up routine, hence the purchase.

~~~~~
There were two drugstore lipsticks that impressed me during 2019 and they have both been a constant throughout the year.
SORBET
GET LIPPY
MOISTURISING LIP COLOUR
This was a rather a surprise, as I had previously tried a foundation
from Sorbet which I included on my Top 3 Disappointing Products 2018 list.
However this just goes to show how one disappointing product from a brand,
thankfully doesn't make the whole brand disappointing.
GET LIPPY is a beautiful, easy to wear, natural looking soft pink and it's one of those shades that will always find a place in my Lipstick wardrobe.
 It glides over the lips and considering it's moisturising and nourishing formula its surprisingly long wearing.
L'ORÉAL
LES CHOCOLATS
ULTRA MATTE LIQUID LIPSTICK
Les Chocolates Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick has a melt-proof formula so you can
 forget your lip colour smudging or budging, for up to 12 hours,
 as once its on its going no where
The lightweight lip colour formula is comfortable to wear and doesn’t crack, crumble or flake. It really does stay on all day, it doesn't smudge, transfer or bleed and most importantly doesn't dry out your lips and best of all it's Chocolate scented...
~~~~~

It wouldn't be a very good Top 10 list if i didn't include a mascara or two and these
both impressed me in 2019 and have both been repurchased

BENEFIT
BADGAL BANG
MASCARA

This has been my fave mascara of 2019
What I can confidently say about the BAD gal BANG! mascara is the following:
It can be layered easily
It creates Volume, Lift and Length
 Its smudge-proof
Water-resistant and flake-free
and I just love it...

CLARINS
WONDER PERFECT
4D MASCARA
This really is a do-it-all, all-in-one mascara that curls, defines, lengthens and volumizes for that bold wide-eyed look, hence the 4D name.
After the first coat of mascara I was hooked, its buildable, doesn't flake or smudge
however being a moist/wet kinda mascara and considering the curl and length it gives I did need to do a little cleaning up afterwards but it's worth it for the overall look and finish.

~~~~~
Urban Decay remained one of my favourite brands throughout 2019 and three
products have made it onto my list and surprisingly one is a brow
product.
URBAN DECAY
BROW ENDOWED
Not being a huge brow person this was a quite an brow raising purchase
for me in 2019.
Brow Endowed is a double-ended tool that volumizes and sets brows in two easy steps:
 A primer fluffs and holds, while a tinted cream fills and shapes.
The excellent long-lasting formula resists sweat and smudging for up to 24 hours.
It's surprisingly easy to use an I was amazed at how fluffier, fuller, tinted brows miraculously appeared.
URBAN DECAY
NAKED RELOADED
EYESHADOW PALETTE
If you're looking for a collection of flattering shades that will cover all your essential  nude/neutral/brown requirements plus a little extra, then this is the ultimate palette to have in your eyeshadow collection.
The selection includes soft mattes, satins, metallics and a little sparkly glitter is thrown in for good measure...
URBAN DECAY
ALL NIGHTER
MAKE-UP SETTING SPRAY
I was slightly sceptical of this make-up setting spray, as everyone was raving about it
and that makes me slightly nervous and all I can say is that it DID live up to all the hype, praise and awards bestowed on it.
There was no transfer, no fading, no settling into the lines and more importantly for me no melting, your make-up stays in place literally all day and all night if needed.
I soon learnt that this is one of those products that you didn't know you needed until you've tried it and I'm hooked.
~~~~~

Last but not least here is my final product for this 2019 list
and I've included an Illuminizing pen for a special reason.

BIONIKE
DEFENCE COLOR
LUMINIZER

The product has a fluid texture and is easy to apply with the click of the pen.
Having tried many similar products over many years
I wasn't prepared for the great concealing effect that it had on
the blue area towards the inner corner of my under eye.
(The blueness is always there, as its the capillaries that can be seen under the
skin due to that areas skin covering being very thin)
and I'm sure many of you can relate to this blue tinge and whilst it didn't cover 100%
(that's a very difficult ask from any product)
 it did an excellent job on me and that's why its been included in my list of Top 10 Make-Up Products 2019

~~~~~
I hope you have enjoyed reading what make-up products impressed me during 2019 and have led to several re-purchases in many cases.
I have also posted my other Top Lists
Let me know in the comments below if you agree or disagree with any of my choices
 for 2019.
L'ORÉAL PARIS INFAILLABLE MORE THAN CONCEALER {REVIEW}
L'Oréal Infaillable More Than Concealer
is a recent launch here in South Africa, so as always, I feel I have buy one and put it to the test, just in case I'm missing out on the next "best thing" in concealers.
This concealer forms part of the hugely successful L'Oréal Infallible stable of make-up products and one of my personal faves when it comes to foundations
To read my previous reviews
INFAILLIBLE 24HR FRESH WEAR FOUNDATION REVIEW
INFAILLIBLE 24HR STAY FRESH FOUNDATION REVIEW
I purchased the Shade Cashmere, as it was a shade lighter than my natural skin tone
and it would hopefully be ideal for under eye concealing, as L'Oréal recommend.
This concealer however does make some serious claims:
Whatever your concern; blemishes, dark circles, uneven skin tone, we’ve got you covered with our NEW More Than Concealer. With 25 shades in the range you can find the perfect one to brighten, correct, contour & highlight, that’s why it’s our More Than Concealer.
Are we perhaps turning the concealing "corner"  with this latest multi-tasking product,
as it literally seems to offer everything in one?
The high pigment and elastic formula provides full coverage
 Natural matte finish
Ultra-blendable formula
Long-lasting weightless wear
Available in 25 shades (only 12 in SA)
Large doe foot applicator
The positives about this product:
1. I really like the large doe foot applicator, its a nice alternative to the usual slimmer versions.
2. It says its full coverage and full coverage it is, so if you've got serious pigmentation,blemishes etc. to conceal then this is the one for you.
3. I cannot disagree with regards to long wearing, as it is, especially when used on the face.
The negatives about this product:
1. My major task for a concealer is to help cover up or at best diminish the appearance of dark circles under my eye area, but sadly this was the products downfall.
I should maybe mention here, that whilst I don't have major dark circles, I do have and being more mature, I want a concealer to both conceal and brighten that area.
2. I found the formula to be feel heavy under the eyes and not lightweight as they claim.
3. I experienced that "cakey" look as it settled into my fine lines and creases, so much so it gave me an aged look, not what I was looking for.
4. As an under eye concealer it performed poorly on the concealing front and I soon saw the product splitting and the darkness showed through
As you can see below this multi-taking concealer has several ways of use and I blended with both a blender, brush and my good old fingers, so here's a run down of
How to Use
1.
Using a shade that matches your skin tone, apply a small dot of More Than Concealer directly on to any blemishes or imperfections and pat in using your finger or makeup brush/sponge.
2.
Using a shade a level or two lighter than your natural skin tone, swipe your More Than Concealer under your eyes and blend out to conceal dark circles and help brighten your under eye for a youthful, lifted look.
3.
Use a shade two to three levels darker than your skin tone to contour & help add dimension to your face.
No doubt there will be many of you, that have tried this product, that will disagree with me totally and that's ok, but for me this isn't a concealer I would personally recommend to anyone that is looking for a great under eye concealer and brightener, so regardless of age steer clear if you have plenty of lines and creases under the eye.
On the other hand if you are looking to cover pigmentation, blemishes and even out the tone of the skin then this is a great long wearing cover product.
With age I'm not sure if I'm just becoming harder to please or whether I'm just
not as easily impressed, because here is yet another concealer review that I'm unimpressed with.
Perhaps the products' name "More Than Concealer" led me to believe that this
really could be the one and disappointingly for me it wasn't, as it's trying to be
"all concealers to all people".
BEAUTY PRODUCTS CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW {AUGUST 2019}
As you will see this months "Currently Under Review" post is a busy one and is rather heavy with make-up items, there's also a nail product from the
Doyenne of "Hands & Feet" in London and it also includes an expensive
hairdryer purchase.
I have been kindly sent 3 make-up items (of my choice) from Sorbet,
so I'm excited to put to use their GET LIPPY Lipstick, WAY-OUT LASHES Mascara
and their SHIMMER & GLOW Shimmer Bronzer,
so check back to find out what I have to say.
SHIMMER & GLOW BRONZER REVIEW
This will be the 2nd mascara under review this month and I'm excited to
try the latest mascara launch from Clarins with their WONDER PERFECT MASCARA 4D.
I don't think any other mascara offers a 4 Dimensional effect for lashes, so this will be interesting and I look forward to reporting back to you as to whether it really does make a difference or not.
I seem to always be on an never ending mission to find and try either new
Mascaras or new concealers and this month I've already included 2 mascaras and the concealer will be a new one in the form of the
L'Oréal Infallable More Than Concealer
which promises to do it all – conceal, correct, brighten, highlight and contour.
I have high expectations for this concealer, as I'm a huge fan of their
Infallible 24h Fresh Wear Foundation
I had never heard of Margaret Dabbs nail products until earlier this year when my BFF
in the UK raved about several of her products.
"The exclusive range of Margaret Dabbs products offers the perfect fusion of medical and beauty for your hands, feet and legs all combining to create luxurious, highly effective beautifying products".
Knowing that we cannot get here in South Africa, she kindly sent me over her favourite
Margaret Dabbs product the Nail & Cuticle Serum.
Obviously this review will only be posted in a couple of months once I've put the serum to
a good test (I just hope it lasts that long).
This beauty item has been on my "Wish List" for sometime now, alas the price had always
kept it there.
The Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer was by no means an impulse purchase, as I've researched
it long and hard before taking the plunge.
After much price checking, both here and overseas, for once South Africa came out
the cheapest due to a  15% discount from RETAILBOX , which they still have.
(A full review covering 2 blog posts will be up during August)
Let me know if you have already tried any of the products above as I would love to know your thoughts and opinions.
L'ORÉAL INFAILLIBLE 24H FRESH WEAR FOUNDATION {REVIEW}
I'm starting off today's review with a important humorous
Disclaimer:
This was not a planned purchase, it was purchased in error.
Yes I stumbled upon this newer variant of my tried and tested
INFAILLIBLE 24H STAY FRESH FOUNDATION
 by accident, as I actually thought I was re-purchasing the same
and to be fair it's an easy error to make as the packaging is so similar.
I also wasn't aware that L'Oréal had launched a new Infallible foundation.
I reviewed the 24H Stay Fresh Foundation several years ago and its remained
one of my core foundations, along with around 4-5 others, and
depending on what I'm wanting from my foundation or my mood that day, determines
which one I reach for, but generally I opt for the 24H Stay Fresh when full coverage
 is the order of the day.
Picture the scene back in January :
I'm standing in front of the L'Oréal stand in a Boots in the UK and faced with a
3 for 2 promotion.
Excitement aside, I immediately picked up a back-up of their Unlimited Mascara,
one of my faves
and a bottle of the Glow Mon Amour Highlighting Drops
which was on my shopping list and my third was a replacement Stay Fresh foundation.
Oblivious to my mistake, I did notice something different with the texture on application
and on further investigation I only then realised I had picked up the new, new to me,
24H FRESH WEAR FOUNDATION.
I could tell from the first application that this foundation was for me.
In my review of the 24H Stay Fresh I mentioned that I needed to moisturise extremely well before use,due to its matte finish, but that's not as necessary with the Fresh Wear, as it offers all the same long wearing, full coverage, but with a more dewy, hydrated and fresher finish.
In comparison to the formula of the new Fresh Wear is noticeably more liquid and has a truly weightless feeling on the skin, its smooth application is more forgiving when it comes to blending, yet it still offers that all important coverage.
Im happy to report that it doesn't look cakey and with wear I didn't experience any patchiness or separation and the colour stays true.
This formulation includes "Oxygen Technology" as denoted by the silver sticker, which happens to be the only difference on the packaging between the two variants.
"Up to 24HR Fresh Wear Foundation provides medium-to-full buildable coverage
that lasts all day and allows the skin to breathe.
The formula's three oil absorbers resist sweat, water, and transfer.
The ultra-thin liquid goes on smoothly to give a fresh, healthy-looking complexion that lasts. Colour stays true and blends in evenly, so your makeup looks fresh all day".
 Maybe with the exception of the 24H wear I personally cannot dispute any of the above brand claims, I can even back up the "Sweat Proof" claims, as living in a hot and humid climate it was certainly put to the test.
As I'm sure you can tell I'm loving this foundation and its definitely earned a place in my foundation collection and all at an affordable price.
There are only 16 shades available here in South Africa, as opposed to 31 internationally and my shade
is 200 Golden Sand, which proved to be a good match for me.
 Non-comedogenic and formulated with an SPF 25, this foundation is suitable for all skin types.
Let me know in the comments below if you have tried this foundation,
I'd love to hear your thoughts...
